Okay... So, you can't talk movies without getting me called out..

I'm a hopeless, incurable movie freak, NYSC just succeeded in making me graduate into an alien!!!

Ermmmm, if you're really into seasonal movies, you'll understand that most movies that turn out to be really interesting, started out very boring and confusing.

But then, it's not a 2 hours movie, so the background and groundwork of the movie will take several episodes to create and which often times, are less captivating.

Although, there's no denying the fact that GOT's initial boring episodes was one too many (almost the entire Season 1), but it was necessary to have those episodes as a groundwork to build on.

FINAL VERDICT; Go watch GOT, endure the initial, not too exciting episodes, it's worth it. I can almost assure you that, once you get through Season 1 in one piece, you'll remain glued to your TV set or laptop screen until you get to Season 6, Episode 1.

WORD OF CAUTION; if you get easily scared of blood and violence or offended by explicit content, then GOT isn't for you. The movie contains graphic scenes of violence and lewdness.
True talk, When GOT came out in 2011 I didn't like the first few episodes and abandoned it but when i had no series to watch and no interesting film to watch i fell back to it and i enjoyed it.

Blindspot, Quantico, Limitless are all dope first season series tho.

BTW Deadpool Blu-Ray is out, am waiting for gods of Egypt.

Morning guys.
Well as regards finance being a possible reason for why we may not be deployed next month, permit me to expressly state that it's fallacious, false and (add whatever adverb, adjective suites you grin)

First, the Corp members allowance does not get to the Nysc management as recently made known by the immediate past DG, rather it gets wired from the CBN to the commercial banks running Corp members accounts.
What the foregoing means is that finance if at all, should be the least worry of nysc. However that's not to say they don't need funds, of course they do, for salaries, overheads and running orientation camps.

But hey guess what, did you know that by law you're permitted to spend a certain % of your budget before it gets passed, this is so because governance cannot just stop, it's a continuum.

So if nysc claims to not have sufficient funds for deployment, they know what to do. grin . Allow us deploy ourselves (lol just kidding).
They can apply for a soft loan from CBN and reimburse them after the budget had been passed. tongue
I make sense?? grin

FINAL CHAPTER

Lady Vivienne was still very much alive after all these many years, stubborn to death. She was the solution to my blessed and cursed nature. She lived all her life not just as a witch but also as a protector of the weak. It was time for her yet again to conjure up one last form of protection over Hampshire, over its people and over my dearly beloved Alexandria.
First we got a couple of silver stones and melted them, then emptied them in as many waters as we could, rivers, streams, wells, ponds… the essence was simple. That any werewolf that dare to cross into the boundaries of Hampshire will suffer death. That silver water through the process of evaporation would mix with the carbon dioxide and any air inhaled by a werewolf would simply choke it to death. Plants through photosynthesis also had little to do away with such creatures. Now Hampshire was going to be free of them.
Then came the extinction process of vampires from Hampshire. Lady Vivienne had all the necessary potions and herbs she needed for this one last spell of hers except a pint of blood from the special bloodline which of course happened to be me. I gave out my blood.
The spell took two weeks to be completed and when it was done, I had only days left. And when I died the world knew peace. The vampires to step in Hampshire or neighbouring environs would breathe its last as well.
Lady Vivienne passed upon completion of the spell that brought back waves of peace and sanity to the town that had been tormented from all sorts of creatures.
To keep Alexandria alive healthy and happy even though she didn’t agree with me at that time, I gave my blood to do that for her hoping that she would always remember to forget me for I was but a blessing and a curse not just to mankind but also to her; the only lady to have affected my many years of existence in all ways possible.
I did for love; I did so that she will go on and have a normal life.

CHAPTER SEVEN

Word got to us via my sense of telepathy that Alexandria’s Uncle had been killed by yet a creature. We left at once back to the town. Villagers described the villain as looping over rooftops when it came and left that night and I knew what I was up against. It was definitely a werewolf!
They move at night to avoid been seen. Preferred heavily wooded hillside, rocky outcroppings with small caves, typically ten to twelve feet long; skin animals for blankets. They survive and adapt from regions to regions most notably tropical rainforest to Polar Regions. They also spend much time hunting and foraging.
Hunting down such a creature was going to be difficult but I was going to put an end to its existence when I finally find it. I was going to tear it apart and levigate it.
At first I learned that the werewolf lived in faraway Norway. I took Alexandria and her remaining family to a fortified territory where lady Vivienne had done some saving grace incantations and where no blood sucking creature would be able to abound.
Then I set out my journey of to avenge the heart ache of the one lady that had managed to keep me both sane and irrational.
After a period of two months where I was away and hunting the werewolf down, I found it and subsequently left it insalubrious. It was not one easy battle as I had hoped. It was tenacious and lengthy but I overcame it even though I ended up with a dislocated finger.
In my many years of experience out in the wild and the years that I took to clean out Hampshire I had gained a lot of knowledge from the skilful encounters with villains of sorts.
In those years, I had managed to gain also foes of different races and kinds. First it was my kinds, then werewolves and then some witches and even human folks.
But as I accumulated enemies, I failed to realise that their inability to get to me would not remain everlasting. I failed to realise that every powerful warrior has his sets of strengths and weaknesses.
I could have turned Alexandria but I wasn’t going to see her go through a life of misery that I’d life. I wasn’t sure that endangering the rest of her family was a good enough idea. That was all too much sacrifice for love. The cut on her neck when she hoped I turned her was treated naturally by the town’s chief doctor.
Alexandria was my weakness. In the few months of my absence, few creatures came to town but success wasn’t guaranteed for them for lady Vivienne had tried her best to repel whatever attack. The werewolf had taken out her father to get to me. Next it was going to be Alexandria or any member of her family.

CHAPTER SIX

Alexandria heard an awful lot about me and had wished for the day she would come face to face with me. Lady luck happened to be on her side that morning. She went to gather woods and somehow ended up going deeper into the wood area, deeper than she need be. Did she know I’d be there? No, but there I was.
I clung to a tree branch here up and waited for when she’d tire from the search of firewood. I waited so long I had forgotten about my need to feed. I could have easily had her for breakfast and the deer would have been just an appetizer but I wasn’t sure what she was up to and wasn’t interested that moment. I had also kept a rule for almost three hundred years - I never fed on innocent souls.
The last time I fed on an innocent woman was when I had recently left Hampshire, I came across a lady in an alley who had stabbed a man repeatedly until he had die and she emptied his pants with the little change he had carried. You see, I used to feed on the wicked as I showed no remorse towards them. That in my own world held high grounds for moral justification of feeding on humans. I thought the lady was just some bandit who in the alleyway enticed victims with her sexual appeal only to waylay them. It was until I had fed on her that I got to know who she was and what her story was.
One night, few days after I killed that woman in the alley I went to a bar to try to acquaint myself with the town folks. I heard a man say the lady went to meet the father of her child for alimony and the poor bastard lured her to the alley for a quick round of joy ride before giving her the money and when they were finished he didn’t keep his promise. Only then did she let the anger in her take control and that’s when I came in with unforeseen injustice. For a week, I brooded and occasionally I provided for the orphan anonymously as the weeks wore by.
I wasn’t going to feed on Alexandria not only because of my long laid down rule but also because something about her seemed to connect with me. The rhythmic heartbeat, the beauty, it all meant something. Something I wasn’t very familiar with, at least not then.
I tried to stay out of sight for the days that followed. She came by my house every day, gradually she became my stalker. I started to walk in capes. But the more I ran away from her the more I felt something stir my desire to want to be with her and around her.
By winter of the following year, we had gotten so used to each other that our friendship had metamorphosed to something bigger. We were courting, at least she liked to think so! It seemed weird but we survived. To befriend a vampire meant expanding the boundaries of Alexandria’s accepted reality.
It was in the process of trying to be human again like develop emotions and fall for Alexandria every day that I realised that I had experienced the full scope of my new race.
Occasionally I found myself moody especially when she wanted to stay away from me. I remember been temperamental few times and also having a prolong feeling of overwhelming excitement.
Then there were also those days where I felt extremely intense that even a human, Alexandria did describe me as attention seeking creature. It got worse for me when I was hungry, even though I could go on a few days without feeding it was still necessary for me to do so if not for anything but for the safety and well-being of my dear lady.
I was gradually becoming human again; I had become something that I never thought I’d be for the second time. Forced to despise mankind because of the effect of Alexandria on me, I had to go away for a while to gather myself together. I wished it worked. It didn’t because I needed to have her close. She had become my own brand of heroine, an addiction I lost ideas of how to overcome.
One evening however, when her family had travelled leaving behind just her Uncle she led me to the woods to the same spot she had seen me for the first. There she put a kitchen knife she removed from under her hat through one side of her neck, and as blood flowed down effusively she beckoned on me to help myself out. Feed! Turn her!

CHAPTER FIVE

The sad day had come when I became my own nightmare. I had killed the very man that breathed life into me, carried me from love to love. Father was dead. Mother and Sister Jenna were taken away immediately by Perlinor for safety reasons, I never heard from them again.

When father turned a hunter, lady Vivienne had built fences around him. No beast or monster would be able to kill him especially vampires but there he was without life and bitten by a vampire. I later found out that I was only able to kill father because once his blood flowed through me and that his love for me weakened him and exposed him to danger from me. I learnt that no amount of spell would ever be stronger than love bonded by blood. My precarious lifestyle and lack of self-control had taken away what I should have cherished the most.

I woke up one morning and it dawned on me that I had no family left. The reality of the atrocities I had done had caught up with me. The impediment of the crimes of a hideous monster like me was too much for me to make do with. Thus began my journey of self-righteousness. I went away for a few years maybe three hundred years or more. I sought soberness; I stayed away from human blood for as long as I could. Starved most times and when I really do want to feed I cleaned up crime scenes that involved murder. It was a pathetic life but at least I lived right by my heart. Sometimes I bought blood bags from medical laboratories, and occasionally I tried my distasteful meals. Animal blood!
When I returned to New Hampshire, it was it was to clean the town. When I had returned it was to continue from where father had left. It seemed like I was far a better candidate to clean the town than father because in me had all the senses and capabilities a million times greater than father. My ability to hear, to smell, run, the strengths were all more than father had to do the work of a hunter. I possessed in me a special kind of strengths that placed me well above the rest of my kind, it was like my ancestors and father had teamed up with me providing me their own strengths and powers from the other world. Lady Vivienne blessed me too, thus began the work. I hunted down my own kinds, killed many and dagger-ed some as I kept away in caves. I even burnt some; I did whatever that was necessary to rid the town of blood sucking monsters like me.

They say the moon moves slowly but by day break it crosses the sky and so gradually the number of miniature monsters running around became less than when I first returned. Many of them history, a few exiled themselves from the town of Hampshire.

One morning I went out of town and into the woods to try to feed. It was still very early and the weather somewhat unclear, I moved from tree branches to tree trunks looking for a kill. Along came a deer and I pounced on it from behind the tree trunk I hid. I was so hungry, I tore it without hesitation. Halfway through my meal, I felt something irregular. A heart beat! It moved in rhythm with mine, I almost couldn’t hear it. I smelt a human presence and when I turned, the eyes were fixed on me.

I came across the finest most heavenly piece of earthen ware I’d seen. She was the beginning of my end. She was nothing like I’d seen over the centuries past. It was like she had just walked out of the walls of my dreams to reality.

Was she here for a reason? Was she a bait set for me or something? For a second I thought that the sound of me eating raucously had drawn her close. Normally I would have thought she didn’t run when I approached her because she was startled and too in shock to move but this one human lady seemed confident and unafraid. I vanished and she tried to search for me.

CHAPTER FOUR
A pillow was placed under the side of my body that had been injured as did ample padding over the injured area to enable breathing come easy as well as to ensure proper blood circulation for I had lost much blood and it was now necessary. A sterile dressing was provided for the wound. Pressure was applied to keep me going. A lot was done for and to me.
By the end of the day, I failed to show any sign of improvement. Even though I had just regained consciousness, my temperature shot up. My body slowly began quivering by midnight, the pupils on my eyes were dilated and whitish. It was time. My service on earth had come to a close.
Not much was left to be done so father did what any loving father would do for his son. When Perlinor offered his blood to be injected in me father did not hesitate. All he said was “please save my son”.

Lady Vivienne could have helped heal my wounds but she needed a particular herb that was two days trip away and time waited for no one, not even the mistress of sorcery and dark powers.
I was kept still, pressed down to the old iron bed to avoid any movement on my part in a way to avoid the broken bones in my chest yet to be removed from damaging more organs when I start convulsing.

So the day that I become a creature other than a homo sapien had come; time was upon my father’s household to save my life. I had become not just a creature I had loathed but one that I had secretly admired. When I had arisen from the shackles of death laid bare on the thick woollen shawl made to provide warmth for my shivering body I felt a sudden rush of blood spasm through my veins.

Suddenly my body became heavier than I could carry it. My internal bodily liquids hotter than the flames of the burning wood few meters away. My muscle mass became overly enhanced. It was like I was born with an extraordinary capacity to absorb, channel, manipulate and transfer my energy.
The colour of my eyes was blood red or crimson, glowed sometimes. My skin had gone pale and cold and when in rage or hungry, sharp canine teeth popped out. I was completely what I’d never seen myself be before.

It was early winter and the cold was enough to clog visibility for up to a mile. Fog filled the atmosphere; the people stayed indoors and when need be for the outside world thick clothes were worn. But while it was overly freezing, I was boiling inside. I needed to be let to run free from the chains that bonded me to the ancient iron bed that father had inherited from his late mother.
The fear of father’s precious heir going on a volatile rampage and dropping living being like animal dungs and taking glory in blood of the household led to fortified precautionary measures. And because vampire subsists on blood as our source of feeding which meant that human blood was irresistible to me, I needed to be kept from ravaging my own household. From the chains I received training necessary to live life like my own kind from no other than the great Perlinor.

A vampire must feed to avoid weakness in both the physical and mental capacity. At first I was fed human blood to survive my rebirth and to strengthen me and as days passed the quality of my feed reduced as slowly my family tried to turn me a vegetarian. I was fed animal blood in the aftermath but it was nothing like what I had had in the days passed. It was simply less appealing to me.

Fortunately my training was coming good. My sense of smell well heightened, I could feel a heart’s beat from a mile away. Foresight and telepathy was present but a working progress. Occasionally the rays of the sun was let in on me to let me experience what I would go against when let to run free. Sunburn! That too was taken care of when mother’s friend casted a spell on some mysterious herbs and soaked in water for me to drink. It was terribly distasteful!

Days had passed and did weeks and gradually everybody was convinced that I was able to abide by the rules of the good vampire. So the chains were let go off my body. The excitement of this new phase in my life overwhelmed me, I boycotted the teachings that I had received for weeks. My lust for blood was beyond comprehension, my control over hunger for innocent blood had eluded me completely. I was like a different person entirely. I became ruthless, terrorised the town that once loved me. I was completely out of control!

CHAPTER TWO

Our first stop was the county borough of Carlisle in the town of Carlisle, North West in England. Carlisle was a little town where agriculture had just kicked in due to the fact that the town had originally been a commercial and craft centre. And even though it had a few places of interest such as Hadrian’s wall to the north of the town, it was not what father wanted so were kept on moving for as far as we could until he could get a comfortable settlement for us somewhere; anywhere.

Our next stop was Hampshire on the southern coast of England and while many of us were still shocked from the awry experience and still trying to settle in our new environment, father was busy with his farm business. He was setting up a new one!

Hampshire was the largest county in south east of England and the third largest shire county in the United Kingdom. It was a town with numerous castles and forts as well as large harbours.

Fresh starts are never exciting especially living day to day with the thoughts of how well you were doing before; afresh had he started and small too because we left the previous farm in such a hurry for anybody to scoop anything.

A few months had passed and we had settled in quite well. It was a small start but it was worth it.

One day while we were having dinner, one of the town’s elderly folks came to our house. Called father to the side, whispered for a while and then the two departed. Father didn’t return home till an hour later. We got to learn later that night that father had gotten word that one of his farm workers was seen feeding on human in a village far away. He was a vampire; he’d been beaten back in Scotland by a rare bloodline. How he managed to control his blood lust especially that of a new born was quite shocking but not as shocking as how he’d managed to keep the secret from prying eyes.

Now we had in our midst, a man who could till the ground for as long as he could and yet also kill us within a second. The thought of Perlinor harming us was scurrilously displeasing and yet father needed to decide how he was going to take care of his own. Father had to risk his life by asking his farm-worker-turned-vampire to leave and aggravate him in the process or to take his family (me, my sister and mother and any other human left in our household) and run away. How far could he outrun a creature capable of replicating the speed of sound? And if we did successfully run, where could we hide and for how long?

Father could not believe his luck when Perlinor revealed to him how much danger he had shielded us from since he was reborn rather than harm any one of our household. He considered us family and he had taken it upon himself to protect us all from the world that was invading our lives.
If the safety of his family wouldn’t be assured then what was the use of trying to make so much wealth with no heir to inherit, father thought frequently.

Desperate times, they say call for desperate measures; father took to a new line of business. He became a hunter, a vampire hunter for he was tired of running from one town to another! The town needed cleansing and he was ready to see to that. He had protection of course as well as a forged alliance with Perlinor - he became fortified. Enough to take on our worst enemy!

Lady Vivienne, mother’s best friend whom a witch and seized to age for decades had built defences with series of powerful spells around father. Soon, a little bit of peace and normalcy returned to the old town.

It was not very safe but safe enough to go on about our businesses.

CHAPTER ONE

It’s the mid seventeenth century in Hampshire. The old town known for its exquisite wild parties and merriment is seemingly ravaged with mysteries of animal attacks as seen by the numerous savaged leftover beings littered all over town.

I am the last of my kind still known; some say I am one of nature’s most hideous beings. I am a native of Perthshire, Scotland. I have been around for over five hundred years.
* * * * * * * * * *

We lived in Perthshire at first. Then father got transferred to work on a large farm owned by a group of consortium business men in Bonnyrigg Edinburgh. The group was made up of powerful men in Scotland most notably dukes, lairds and earls. Bonnyrigg was a fortress set within acres of wooded parkland on the line of river Esk.

Bonnyrigg was also a fairly small settlement which was originally called Bonnebrig. It wasn’t the most attractive settlements in Scotland but it had its own share of attractions as the Drumlanrig castle, Cawdor castle and gardens. The town was known for its mining activities but its relatively fertile soil encouraged farming.

In the beginning, there were only a handful of good lands suitable for farming and as a result landlords rented out their farmlands. Most farming was based on lowland fermtoun or highland baile; settlements of a handful of families that jointly farmed an area notionally suitable for two or three plough teams allocated in run rigs.

But somewhere on the outskirts of the east side of the town father got the property rights of a huge mansion that had been auctioned off to English colonial masters. The mansion was surrounded with plenty farmlands. Most ploughing then was done using heavy wooden plough with iron coulter pulled by oxen which were more effective in heavy Scottish soil and cheaper to feed than horses. Except if you were wealthy enough to employ the two, which we did.

It was a really large farm with horses and oxen used to ease the labour force of over a hundred and fifty men. Sugar cane plantation was excellent as was potato and grains. Irrigation was top notch, wheat and cotton came out good. A lot of produce was made and good money came back in return that sometimes the workers poured out their sweat till late night. Life was simple, it was a small town; everyone knew the person they shared the narrow path with. We lived a life void of trouble and terror.

Then one night, at least a half dozen of the many workers went missing. At first we taught they got tired of working on the farm and decided to take a French leave.
A fortnight later, another handful of men went away too. Some townies said to have heard hauling that seemed like a dog’s but was different. And when a hunter came across a dead body with multiple bites and claw marks all over the body, it was concluded that the town was under an animal attack of some sorts.
Weeks passed, a few more men disappeared in the town and now it wasn’t just our workers alone. More dead bodies surfaced. The town was no longer safe; the mysterious animal would not stop to feed on us until there were no people left except the remaining people left the town. So we did! Taking wit us a few workers too and their families!

Literature › SHORT STORY: Sevan's Anniversary by genius43(op): 5:43pm On Jun 28, 2015
My friends accused me of working too much and evading fun so I decided to change a few things about myself. Some claimed I had binged on more knowledge than I could ever really need.

First I started being more social than before, I also started to hang out more.

It’s funny when you look at it; because right from school days, without drawing a long bow, I was so buried in my books that some ladies thought of me as a kill joy, literally - hardly went for breaks, no after school summer trips to wherever, no parties, no sports and the list goes on.

What I did very well was read, read and read, attend tutorial classes a lot, seminars, watch history and documentaries, represent the school in competitions that involved testing of intellectuals or let’s just say debates, quizzes et.al.

By now you should have a picture of what my life was made up of already.

What you do constantly sticks with you like a dog to its owner. I carried on in that manner even after school; I was so used to working that I almost forgot if anything else existed like leisure - that's like me working and forgetting to live my life.

Some meals you taste for the first time and you take it well so you try it every now and then - when I started hanging out I kind of felt I missed work and once I had been to few spots in Lekki and Ikeja, my story took a meandering of some sort.
Soon, I was working more and hanging out more. Don’t ask me how I did it - work hard, play hard, simple!

One day, few friends of mine invited me to this party at Ikoyi… It was amazing, although I wasn’t used to that much crowd in a refined space. I survived though!

"Hi my name is Sevan..." I said introducing myself to this girl I met.
"Oookay" she mustered throwing me a rather confused look than that of one approving an ice-breaking speech.

"My friends over there,..." I seemed to be saying when she shouted
"What? I can't hear you, the music is loud"

I paused then started all over again "my friends over there, they bet I couldn't talk to the prettiest girl in here."

I noticed from a corner of her mouth a glorious smile but it seemed like she was suppressing it.

If she smiled then it was definitely a go-ahead one, a green light as my friends liked to say, perhaps.

Knowing that, I pushed my luck.

"Now that I have talked to her, I think me and you should go spend their money on some drinks or suya... what do you say?"

"Really? Is that the best you got?" she shot at me with bright eyes and straight face.

"Sadly, Yes. It's the only I have got" I replied with a pitiful look like an over pampered agege bread.

Then with another confusing and repressed smile, she motioned me to give her a minute as she wiggled out a phone from her clutch bag and typed as if to suggest she was texting someone.

For a moment I thought she was going to give me one of those scoffing laughs.

Suddenly I felt my brain tilted, I couldn't tell which way was up or down. Her beauty was obstructing my thought process, her piecing white eyes seemed menacing. A slew of questions rumbled through my head - what am I doing? What is she going to say? Have I embarrassed myself? Was that the best I could do?
The one bottle of beer I had earlier now wanted to be emptied from my body.
Clammy sweat beaded down my forehead, only when I tried to wipe it away, I found nothing. Means I was freaking out too much.
Just as I felt my gnawing pulverization, she chimed in "Mina. Call me Mina."

I might have been considered among pantheons academically but I sucked at wooing.

See, there at that party I met a girl, gorgeous, fitted in a red body con dress; straight legs, frontally endowed as behind, dark and slender built or for short what I like to call “pocket size.” She was by my side every step of the way throughout the night. Was it drinking, because we did numerous shots of different kinds of alcohol at varying degrees, talk about dancing… she was OMG a very sexy dancer - floucing and holding the fort such that I never even bothered dancing or being in the company of any other lady there that night. Cheek by jowl we were. Some people even mistook us for one newly married and happy couple; I say we were in the making.

Nothing lasts forever so did the party, after hours of deadbeat beer and skittle I took her to my place say 3am. I needed to catch few minutes rest before attending a colleague's wedding in the morning. But when we got to my place, we ended up sleeping about two hours or so later because we were doing it - started from intense kissing and ploughing of my fingers through her jet black hair as soon as we got inside the house to her grappling for something to anchor herself to a series of cold marathon and her appealing music to my ears. You know the rest...uhm, lady in the street freak in the bed.
We had to, we needed it - couldn't tell if it was the passion of the moment or the state of intoxication. That is if one gets high from a smidgen of alcohol.
Oh boy, I was in another world, it was a night to not forget in a hurry. At this point I must spare you the gory details, I’m not one to kiss and tell - if I have not done that already.

We both woke up very late, so I had to shower and hit the road. She was still sleepy so I just showed her around my apartment in case she needed anything later. Oh, she needed lots later.

After all the dancing and shouting at the wedding, if you have been to a typical Yoruba gathering you will understand I was near dead by the time I got back in the evening. I called to check on her twice and she was good so I took my time.

My mind blown to smithereens when my guest from last night was gone as did my laptop and some of my electronics, my watches and a few foot wears.
For a fleeting moment, I stood speechless and almost motionless for close to five minutes as I stared at my half empty living room. With the balloons gone up, I flinched first in denial then slouched into the cushion close by. What had I done by opening my home to a stranger? She must have had help from somewhere moving my stuff surely. I couldn’t tell my friends, I couldn’t stand being mocked for being callous or subjected to constant talks of derisory.
