As a concerned citizen and aspiring leader, I strongly believe that while borrowing might not be criminal, the sheer amount of N13.39 trillion projected deficit in the proposed 2025 national budget is alarming. This massive borrowing plan, coupled with the intention to borrow an additional N1.7 trillion through Euro bonds, raises serious concerns about our nation's economic future.

Rather than relying heavily on borrowing, I think we should focus on developing our own industries, reviving our past industries that generated revenue, such as agriculture, and diversifying our economy. Our over-reliance on crude oil is precarious, considering that it might become outdated in the next decade ¹

It's time for us to think outside the box and explore innovative ways to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and reduce our dependence on foreign loans. We need to invest in our people, infrastructure, and technology to drive sustainable development.

As a nation, we must prioritize prudent economic management, transparency, and accountability. We owe it to ourselves, our children, and future generations to build a stronger, more resilient economy that's not burdened by debt.
