Why not? The issue has nothing to do with the system and everything to do with the people and their IQ. Northerners who suffered the most under 8 years of APC with Buhari, still went out to vote APC because of muslim-muslim ticket. That was the very definition of low IQ behaviour.
Yoruba people who knew Tinubu had nothing to offer still voted for him because of tribal sentiments, again low IQ things. Until the citizens of this country put competence over ethnic sentiments the country will not move forward, but instead will just go from one low IQ Northerner to a low IQ southerner and back again. Should we not be better than that?

Nigerians will always vote based on tribal or religious sentiments and that's why I always advocate going back to regional government

Russia technically IS one country. If you look at it going by your analogy, US isn't also 1 country because all the states in US can exist individually. The soviet union has been disbanded (because the US was trying to reduce the power of USSR) and Russia was 1 state in that bloc.
NATO was formed to keep RUssia from getting too powerful, and to give US leverage over every other country.

Come to think of it, Russia hasn't fought or invaded other countries as the US has done but y'all don't seem to see any problems with US.
The same scenario playing out in Ukraine occured in Cuba when Russia wanted to place their missiles in Cuba and US threatened to invade Cuba if they allow the Russians place their missiles there. The economic sanctions US placed on Cuba is still in place up till today. Cuba doesn't even share a boundary with US. Now, US wants to place missiles in a country bordering Russia and Russia said No. They's the cause of what you're seeing in Ukraine now
