OGUN 2027: Yayi's Robust Legislative Experience Has Prepared Him for Governorship - Kashamu Ahead of the 2027 elections, the lawmaker representing Ijebu North I State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Rasheed Kashamu, has thrown his weight behind the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), describing him as the most prepared and experienced candidate to lead the Gateway State into its next phase of development. According to Kashamu, Ogun's next governor must be a leader whose credentials are built on years of proven public service, sound legislative experience, financial expertise and a demonstrable commitment to improving the lives of the people. The lawmaker cited Senator Adeola's extensive career in public service, describing it as what has distinguished him as one of Nigeria's most accomplished legislators, noting that his journey from the House of Assembly to the House of Representatives and subsequently, the Senate reflects years of consistent leadership and dedication to nation-building. "Leadership is about preparation, competence and performance. I am convinced that when the good people of Ogun State go to the polls in 2027, they will look beyond campaign promises and assess those who have built enduring records of service. Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola has demonstrated over the years that he possesses the experience, capacity and vision required to govern Ogun State successfully," Kashamu said. He noted that Adeola's years in the National Assembly have exposed him to the intricacies of governance and public administration, qualities he believes are critical for managing the affairs of a state with Ogun's economic importance. Kashamu also highlighted Adeola's professional background as a chartered accountant, saying his financial expertise would further strengthen prudent resource management and ensure greater accountability in government. According to him, the senator's representation of Ogun West Senatorial District has been marked by numerous interventions in infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, human capital development and community development, describing the projects as practical evidence of leadership that prioritises the welfare of the people. He further maintained that the demands of modern governance require a leader who understands both legislation and executive administration, adding that Adeola's decades of legislative service have adequately prepared him for the responsibilities of governing Ogun State. "Our state needs a governor who understands policy, appreciates the importance of accountability and possesses the experience to attract investments, strengthen institutions and sustain economic growth. Senator Adeola has demonstrated these qualities throughout his public service career," he stated. Kashamu expressed confidence in the choice of Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun as the deputy governorship candidate, describing her as an accomplished administrator and grassroots politician whose emergence complements Adeola's experience and strengthens the ticket. He said the combination of Adeola and Adegunwa-Balogun represents a blend of competence, inclusiveness and administrative capacity capable of consolidating the developmental strides already recorded in Ogun State while opening new opportunities for economic expansion, industrial growth, quality education, improved healthcare, agricultural development and youth empowerment. The lawmaker stressed that Ogun occupies a strategic position in Nigeria's economy and therefore requires leadership with the experience to maximise its vast potential through effective governance, prudent financial management and productive engagement with both local and international investors. "As someone privileged to serve the people in the Ogun State House of Assembly, I understand the enormous expectations of our citizens. They desire leadership that listens to their yearnings and delivers outstandingly. Senator Adeola has consistently shown that he understands these expectations and possesses the character and competence to meet them," he said. Kashamu maintained that 2027 presents an opportunity for Ogun people to elect a leader with a tested record of performance and national legislative experience, expressing confidence that Adeola's years of service have positioned him to provide purposeful leadership for the state. He urged residents of the state to carefully evaluate the credentials, experience and track record of those seeking the governorship, insisting that the future of Ogun State should be entrusted to leaders whose commitment to public service has been proven over time. "For me, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) represents that leadership. His record speaks for him, his experience is undeniable and his vision aligns with the aspirations of millions of Ogun people who desire greater progress, inclusive development and sustainable prosperity. I am convinced that he is the right man to lead Ogun State into a brighter future," Kashamu added. |
2027: Tinubu deserves second term to consolidate reforms, says Ogun lawmaker A member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Ijebu North I State Constituency, Hon. Rasheed Kashamu, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has earned the confidence of Nigerians to seek a second term in office in 2027, saying the administration's reforms and development initiatives have laid the foundation for a more prosperous and economically resilient nation. The All Progressives Congress lawmaker said President Tinubu assumed office at one of the most difficult periods in Nigeria's history but had demonstrated uncommon courage by implementing what he described as bold and far-reaching reforms aimed at repositioning the country's economy for sustainable growth. According to Kashamu, while the reforms initially came with inevitable challenges, they have begun to yield measurable results across critical sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, education, security, youth empowerment, healthcare, investment, digital economy and social welfare. He maintained that continuity would enable the administration to consolidate ongoing reforms and accelerate national development. "The journey of rebuilding any nation is never an overnight exercise. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inherited enormous economic and structural challenges that accumulated over several years, yet he chose the difficult path of reforms rather than the easy path of postponing problems. "Today, the indicators are gradually showing that those courageous decisions are beginning to produce positive outcomes. What the country requires now is continuity, consistency and sustained leadership to fully harvest the gains of these reforms," he said. Kashamu commended the administration's economic policies, noting that efforts to unify the foreign exchange market, expand government revenue, attract investments and improve fiscal discipline have strengthened Nigeria's economic outlook. He added that international financial institutions and global investors have increasingly acknowledged Nigeria's reform agenda, resulting in renewed investor confidence and improved macroeconomic stability. The lawmaker said the Federal Government's commitment to massive infrastructure development remains one of the defining features of the Tinubu administration. He cited ongoing work on major federal highways, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway initiative, the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road, and continued investments in rail transportation, inland dry ports and other strategic infrastructure designed to stimulate commerce and regional integration. According to him, improved infrastructure would reduce transportation costs, enhance trade and unlock economic opportunities across the country. Kashamu also applauded the administration's agricultural policies, describing food security as one of the government's major priorities. He noted that the Federal Government has continued to support farmers through mechanisation initiatives, dry-season farming programmes, access to improved seedlings, fertilizer distribution and interventions designed to boost local food production while reducing dependence on imports. He said increased investments in agriculture would not only improve food availability but also create employment opportunities for millions of Nigerians, especially young people in rural communities. On education, the Ogun lawmaker described the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as a landmark intervention that has expanded access to higher education. He said the student loan programme has provided financial support to eligible students who previously struggled to pay tuition fees, thereby reducing financial barriers to tertiary education. He also commended increased investments in technical education, digital learning and skills acquisition programmes aimed at preparing Nigerian youths for the demands of a rapidly evolving global economy. Speaking on youth development, Kashamu said the administration has consistently prioritised programmes that promote entrepreneurship, digital innovation, vocational training and employment opportunities. According to him, initiatives supporting technology startups, creative industries, innovation hubs and digital skills development are positioning Nigerian youths to compete favourably in the global economy. "Our youths represent the greatest asset of this nation. President Tinubu understands this reality and continues to create opportunities that empower them through education, entrepreneurship, innovation and access to finance," he stated. The legislator further praised ongoing reforms in the health sector, including efforts to strengthen primary healthcare, improve access to essential medicines, upgrade medical facilities and expand health insurance coverage for vulnerable Nigerians. On security, Kashamu acknowledged that challenges remain but argued that the Federal Government has intensified efforts to combat terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of criminality through improved intelligence gathering, enhanced collaboration among security agencies and increased investments in military equipment and personnel welfare. He said the gradual restoration of peace in several troubled communities demonstrates that the administration's security strategy is producing encouraging results. The lawmaker also highlighted the administration's commitment to local government autonomy, tax reforms, ease of doing business, power sector improvements and social investment programmes as evidence of a government focused on institutional reforms capable of delivering long-term national prosperity. He urged Nigerians to assess the Tinubu administration based on its long-term vision rather than temporary economic difficulties associated with structural reforms. "No transformational leader is remembered for avoiding difficult decisions. Great leaders are remembered for making the decisions that secure the future of generations yet unborn. "President Tinubu has demonstrated courage, vision and commitment to nation-building. These reforms require time to mature, and that is why continuity is essential," he said. Kashamu called on members of the All Progressives Congress and Nigerians across political, religious and ethnic divides to continue supporting the President's Renewed Hope Agenda, insisting that national development should transcend partisan interests. He expressed confidence that by 2027, more Nigerians would experience the full benefits of the administration's policies and programmes. "I have absolute confidence that history will judge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu kindly. The foundation being laid today will produce greater economic prosperity, stronger institutions, expanded opportunities for our youths and a more secure Nigeria. "That is why I believe he remains the right leader to consolidate these gains beyond 2027. Our country needs stability, continuity and sustained reforms, not a reversal of the progress already being made. "I therefore urge Nigerians to continue supporting President Tinubu as he works to build a stronger, more united and economically prosperous nation for present and future generations," Kashamu added.

APC Ward 16 Unveils ‘Yayi Polling Booth Ambassadors,’ Charts Winning Path for 2027 Oke Ogun, Abeokuta: In a decisive move to consolidate grassroots strength ahead of the 2027 general elections, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 16, Abeokuta North Local Government, have unveiled a bold mobilization structure tagged “Yayi Polling Booth Ambassadors.” The initiative, announced at a high-powered strategic stakeholders’ meeting held on June 2, 2026, at Oke Ogun Community, is designed to galvanize support for the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) and other APC candidates, while reinforcing APC’s dominance across all polling units in the ward. The meeting, which drew party leaders, stakeholders, and grassroots coordinators, set a clear tone: Ward 16 is not leaving anything to chance. Chairman of APC Oke Ogun Community and foremost Ward 16 leader, Prince Akinbode Ifekayode, who presided over the session, emphasized that electoral victory would require more than rhetoric — it demands structure, discipline, and strategic grassroots engagement. At the heart of the new strategy is the creation of Polling Booth Ambassadors, a network of 280 energetic youths drawn from the ward’s 28 polling units. Each unit is to produce 10 committed individuals tasked with voter mobilization, community engagement, and real-time political intelligence gathering. “This is not just a political exercise; it is a movement,” Ifekayode declared. “Every polling unit must become a stronghold. Every street must feel our presence.” Stakeholders described the initiative as a game-changer capable of bridging the gap between the party and the electorate at the micro level. The ambassadors are expected to serve as the face of the APC within their communities, promoting the Yayi candidacy while countering opposition narratives. Hon. Aliu Omosowon, the Ward Chairman, stressed unity among party faithful, warning that internal divisions could undermine even the best strategies. Meanwhile, Hon. Seun Akinpelu urged members to focus squarely on electoral victory, describing it as the ultimate gateway to delivering development. Several speakers also underscored the importance of expanding the party’s voter base. Calls were made for aggressive PVC registration drives, as well as targeted engagement with elites and first-time voters. In a notable intervention, stakeholders advocated for a coordinated media and grassroots response to opposition attacks, insisting that controlling the narrative would be crucial in the months ahead. The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolve: Ward 16 must deliver overwhelming votes for APC in 2027. A follow-up session with all selected Polling Booth Ambassadors is scheduled to hold within two weeks, signaling the immediate rollout of what party insiders describe as one of the most structured grassroots campaigns in the ward’s history. With the Yayi political machinery gaining momentum and a clearly defined booth-level strategy in place, APC Ward 16 appears set to play a pivotal role in shaping the outcome of the 2027 general elections.

*Group Urges SSS, NSA to probe Ogun Rep Aspirant's Claims* Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a non-governmental organisation, Ogun Youth Professionals (OYP) has warned aspirants against name dropping, fraudulent claims and impersonation. In a statement issued by its Communications Director, Imran Tajudeen on Tuesday in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, the group said it has watched with growing concern the false claims by some aspirants in the build up to the 2027 general elections. The statement reads in part, "We have noticed a disturbing trend whereby aspirants lay claims to academic degrees, positions and titles that are not true or genuine. Their sole aim is to hoodwink unsuspecting members of the public, curry undeserving favour and run away with it. "A case in point is that of one Adeeko Ayodele Adeeko Ayodele Fiyinoluwa (DAAF) who claims to be a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Youth Development. He is an aspirant seeking to represent Ijebu North/Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency. "A simple background check on him shows that he does not have an academic doctorate degree in any discipline. Yet, he goes by the name 'Dr. Adeeko Ayodele Adeeko Ayodele Fiyinoluwa (DAAF)' and signs off on public statements and billboards as 'Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth Development'. "As a foremost youth body committed to the growth and development of professionals that are of Ogun descent, we owe it a patriotic duty to raise the alarm and nip the development in the bud before unsuspecting members of the public are misled and thereby cause irreparable damage to our dear state and polity." The group urged the State Security Service (DSS) and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to conduct a thorough investigation into its claims to ascertain the veracity or otherwise. It noted that only the best is good enough for Ogun state, as the Gateway state, adding, "We do not want to have another Salisu Buhari at the House of Representatives. A stitch in time saves nine". |

An Osun Executive Administrator of Vision, Surrounded by Shadows of Masquerade Actors History is often kind to executive administrators who govern with clarity of purpose, discipline, and an uncommon attention to detail. In Osun State today, many observers agree that the Governor, His Excellency Senator Jackson Ademola Adeleke fits that description. His tenure has been marked by prudence, calm leadership, and a visible attempt to rebuild trust in governance. From fiscal discipline to orderly public service management, his administrative style reflects someone who understands that government is not a theatre of noise, but an engine of steady service. The Governor’s strength lies in structure and solid infrastructure. Files move. Processes are respected. Institution hierarchy, rather than impulses, appear to guide decisions. In a political climate where drama often substitutes for delivery, this restraint has earned His Excellency Senator Jackson Ademola Adeleke respect across party lines from PDP, APC and now Accord party. Even critics concede that Osun has enjoyed a measure of administrative stability under his watch. Yet, as history also teaches, the greatest danger to a capable leader is rarely his own intent i.e. it is the conduct of those who operate closest to him. Quietly, almost imperceptibly, a different narrative has begun to circulate in the corridors of power around His Excellency Senator Jackson Ademola Adeleke. It is not a story about the Governor’s decisions, but about the ambitions of some of his aides. Individuals who were meant to be extensions of his vision now appear, in whispers and murmurs, to be pursuing personal agendas. Influence is allegedly traded, access monetized, and loyalty measured not by service to the state, but by proximity to power. More troubling is the method by which these ambitions are said to be shielded. Rather than acting openly, some aides reportedly cloak their actions in borrowed authority, invoking the name and perceived influence of the Governor’s elder brother, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke. The tactic is subtle but effective: it intimidates dissent, silences questions, and creates an illusion of untouchability. In doing so, it blurs the line between genuine authority and manufactured power. This is where the danger lies, not necessarily in proven wrongdoing, but in perception. Governance thrives on trust, and trust erodes fastest when people believe that unseen hands are benefiting under the cover of respected names. Even if the Governor remains personally above reproach, the actions of overzealous aides can stain an otherwise commendable legacy of four decades built by His Excellency Senator Jackson Ademola Adeleke. It is important to be clear: leadership is not judged only by policies executed, but by the ecosystem allowed to flourish around it. Aides who hide behind family names, real or imagined, do a disservice not just to the Governor, but to the State itself. They convert public service into private opportunity and weaponize proximity as a shield against accountability. Imagine the Osun State Government initiating lots of legal actions without even the knowledge of the Attorney General of the State nor the approval of His Excellency Senator Jackson Ademola Adeleke. And yet, the Governor is handicapped and cannot query the veracity of their actions, because the external solicitor is working for state actors with shielded personal ambitions within the corridors of power. If the court cases go south, the legacy of the Adeleke built over the past four decades goes up in shattered flames while if the court cases go well, only these state actors masquerading as loyalty are the beneficiary. Head or Tail, there is no benefits to His Excellency Senator Jackson Ademola Adeleke nor his family. Does this gamble befit His Excellency Senator Jackson Ademola Adeleke and his family? Pitching His Excellency Senator Jackson Ademola Adeleke against Federal Institutions in court? Everyone knows the court cases are not in the interest of the Governor nor the State. The benefits are only for the masked personal ambition of few aides. The irony is striking. A Governor known for order and discipline risks being undermined by disorderly ambition within his own camp. History is replete with examples of good leaders whose legacies were weakened, not by their failures, but by the excesses of those who spoke in their name. Osun deserves better. The Governor, His Excellency Senator Jackson Ademola Adeleke deserves better. It is a top-secret that each of the masked state actors who are proponent of the court cases on behalf of the present Governor, are clandestinely visiting the APC Gubernatorial candidate in wee hours, to wet the ground in case Accord Party lose at the poll in August 2026. Using the court cases as a pretense of loyalty. Only the Attorney General of the State knows the real truth and how they ridiculed his office, but these masquerading state actors and the external solicitors have silenced him and creates an illusion of untouchability. He will only be able to tell his own story, maybe after the shame has dawned on all. A case of external solicitors being made to be a boss over the Attorney-general of the State by the masked personal-ambition masquerade state actors. If his administration is to be remembered for the right reasons, then sunlight must be allowed into the inner rooms of power. Clear boundaries, transparent processes, and zero tolerance for influence-peddling: real or imagined must be enforced. Family names should never be gambled upon by masquerading state actors and personal ambition must never be allowed to ride on the back of public trust. It is top secret that His Excellency Senator Jackson Ademola Adeleke might not win second term since many influential politically powerful figures within and outside the State are very much offended and have grudges against the Governor because of the disrespectful actions of these state actors but they prefer to be going with the political flow because these same aides have spark ugly court actions using the Governor’s name without his knowledge nor approval and they know the Governor cannot tamed them. His Excellency Senator Jackson Ademola Adeleke is going into the election ring with pretense-infested aides who have used the name of the Governor to cause havoc to the brand of His Excellency Senator Jackson Ademola Adeleke and his family. In the end, the true measure of leadership is not just how well a Governor governs, but how firmly he ensures that no one governs in his shadow. |

*Controversy Sorrounds Abiodun's Handling of Land Use Charges, court Cases* Oyekoya Akintunde "For the umpteenth time, the APC under the leadership of Gov. Abiodun has again shown shallowness in handling issues concerning the land use charge. It appears either the Governor is desperate to unleash tyranny or his political acolytes embark on exercises without seeking the Governor's imprimatur. In recent times, the APC-led administration in the state has shown absolute aloofness to simple rules of governance after trying to hijack every fabric of the state architecture. Not long ago, the Government went on a vendetta against Senator Gbenga Daniel, an action that has nicknamed him "Mr. Bulldozer." While still reeling from the rightful stand, his Political Acolytes were in Ikenne, where they asked for the withdrawal of a transformer donated by Hon. Adebutu. Unrelenting, Gov. Abiodun again, through the Ministry of Finance, pasted a notice of default on Hon. Adebutu's property located at Ode Remo." "It is pertinent to inform the general public that the Governor has not only disobeyed the court but has again shown a lack of knowledge of governance. The said property has been before the High Court of Justice, Sagamu, with the following references: 1. *HCS/275/2018*: Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu vs. Land Use and Amenities Charge Committee, Ogun State Ministry of Finance, Abeokuta, with a next court date of October 8, 2025. 2. *HCS/409/2024*: Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu vs. Land Use and Amenities Charge Committee, Ogun State Ministry of Finance, Abeokuta, still pending without a fixed date." "It would therefore be a regurgitation of facts to state that the Governor is excessively exercising his power by not taking cognizance of simple rulings from the court, an action alien to democracy and fast eroding the trust imposed on him."

Remo Bye-Election: A Disgraceful Display of Thuggery Undermines Democracy-Aderinokun The just concluded bye-election in Remo has turned into a disheartening spectacle, highlighting a significant setback for the principles of democracy that we hold dear. It was nothing short of a show of shame, where the integrity of the electoral process was undermined by rampant thuggery and intimidation. Sympathers of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) were openly harassed, creating an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty that stifled their right to vote. This intimidation occurred in plain sight, even with security agents present, raising serious questions about their effectiveness and commitment to uphold the law. Once again, the proceedings revealed a troubling truth: Governor Dapo Abiodun appears to lack genuine support within his own Federal constituency. The lack of a free and fair election in his area is not just an embarrassment; it reflects a broader issue that undermines the very essence of democratic governance. It is disheartening to witness such blatant disregard for the electoral process, where the voices of the constituents are silenced by fear and coercion. As I reflect on these events, I cannot help but feel a deep sense of sorrow for the state of our democracy. The fundamental ideals of representation, fairness, and respect for the will of the people seem to be fading away. This situation calls for urgent introspection and action from all stakeholders to ensure that future elections are conducted in an environment that honors the principles of democracy. I weep for the future of our democracy, hoping for a time when every citizen can exercise their right to vote freely and without fear. Chief Olumide Aderinokun Ogun PDP Chieftain |

EKEDC: Save Our Soul @ Joseph/Mohammed Community in Eti-Osa LGA, Lagos Dear Sir, I am writing on behalf of the residents of Joseph/Mohammed Community, located in Eti-Osa Local Government Area, Sangotedo to formally express our deep concern and displeasure over the continued neglect and poor treatment by Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) regarding our electricity supply. For more than ten years, our community has been subjected to the use of a faulty and unreliable transformer supplied by EKEDC. Despite several complaints and follow-ups, the company has repeatedly failed to replace it with a new and functioning unit, instead choosing to carry out temporary repairs or reinstall refurbished transformers that break down shortly after. This has resulted in frequent power outages, damaged appliances, interrupted businesses, and immense hardship for residents. Last year, when our transformer developed a fault, we had to wait over three months before a refurbished unit was installed. Unfortunately, that transformer also failed shortly after installation, and we were forced to manage the situation until April of this year. EKEDC eventually retrieved the faulty unit, but on July 5th, they returned an even worse transformer that didn’t work at all upon installation. It is difficult to understand why we had to wait over three months only to receive a non-functional transformer. This situation suggests a deliberate lack of concern, especially when neighboring communities have received new transformers without similar delays. EKEDC’s handling of this matter is deeply disappointing and raises serious concerns about fairness and accountability. We believe that our community deserves fair treatment like other areas within EKEDC’s coverage. It is unjust and unacceptable that for over a decade, we have been denied stable electricity simply because we have not been provided with a proper transformer. We respectfully urge the regulatory authority to intervene promptly by investigating this issue and compelling EKEDC to provide our community with a new and functional transformer without further delay. We trust that your office will act in the interest of justice and fairness to address this longstanding issue. Thank you for your attention to this matte Olujimi Sunday olujimisunday@gmail.com |
*SCOURGE OF CROSS CARPETING BY OGUN POLITICAINS...* _ a dark triad of Narcissm, Machiavellinism and Psychopathy *© The Deep Thinkers* "History has a way of revealing timeless truths about human actions and decisions. It shows us that, despite the passage of time, human nature remains relatively consistent, with ambition, vanity, and self-preservation being enduring motivators. The recent defections from a party that had previously supported them is a case in point, highlighting the complexities of human motivations and the lengths to which some individuals will go to achieve their selfish goals." In the world of politics, there's a peculiar breed of individuals who change their party affiliations with alarming ease, often driven by self-interest rather than principle. These modern-day chameleons shed their party skins like worn-out clothes, adopting new colors and ideologies to suit the prevailing winds of power. Consider the politicians who abandoned their parties for greener pastures, only to be seen praising their new parties with zeal. They don the mantle of their new party's ideology, quoting its manifesto with the fervor of a true believer, even if it means contradicting their previous stances. Their actions evoke memories of Alcibiades, the ancient Athenian politician who changed his allegiance and lifestyle to suit the powers of the day. Like Alcibiades, these politicians prioritize self-preservation and ambition over integrity and consistency. By constantly shifting their positions, these politicians undermine the trust and credibility that are essential for effective governance. Their actions are driven by calculation rather than conviction, leaving many to question their sincerity and reliability. As history has shown us, politicians who prioritize opportunism over principle often find themselves trapped by their own posturing. Their legacy is one of distrust and cynicism, leaving behind a trail of disappointed followers and a tarnished reputation. The story of these politicians serves as a reminder that integrity and consistency are essential qualities for leaders. By staying true to their principles and values, politicians can build trust with their constituents and earn a reputation for reliability and authenticity. Anything less is just a facade, a shallow attempt to curry favor with those in power. Conclusively , While their benefactor made headlines with a #100 million donation to an Islamic group, they were heedlessly dancing on thin ice, ignoring the looming disaster that would soon leave them reeling.

*A Nation That Cheers for Goals but Ignores Sacrifice* *© The Deep Thinkers* In a moment designed to showcase national gratitude, President Bola Tinubu awarded each member of the Super Falcons amount worth around ₦153 million and a house following their victory at the Women’s African Cup of Nations. It was, on the surface, a commendable gesture celebrating triumph, excellence, and the pride of a nation. But as the news made headlines and cheers echoed across the media, another sound began to rise, one not of jubilation, but of silent sorrow. The sigh of the underpaid teacher, the tired groan of a sleepless doctor, the hushed protest of a soaked police officer, and the weary silence of a civil servant whose salary cannot feed a family, let alone sustain hope. This is not an argument against rewarding excellence. Indeed, the Super Falcons deserve recognition for elevating our flag on a continental stage. But in a nation on the brink of economic collapse, where dignity is daily denied to those who hold society together, such grand gestures feel less like motivation and more like mockery. Imagine a teacher in a public school shaping the next generation, working in overcrowded classrooms, paid a meager ₦50,000 monthly. Imagine a doctor navigating poorly equipped hospitals, performing miracles on paltry salaries, then marching the streets just to demand arrears. Picture a police officer underpaid, overworked, unprotected, guarding the gates of power with empty stomachs and broken morale. Picture the civil servant who has spent months begging for a ₦70,000 minimum wage, watching in disbelief as a one-time honourarium surpasses their entire decade-long earnings. Is this the message we are sending that to be seen, one must be spectacular, and to be rewarded, one must entertain? What then becomes of sacrifice? Of the quiet labour that doesn’t make headlines but without which no society can function? This lopsided national value system is not just unfair it is dangerous. It breeds resentment. It erodes patriotism. It sends a chilling message to the youth: don’t build, perform. Don’t serve, entertain. Don’t sacrifice, shine. It is time for a new kind of generosity, one that reaches the janitor as much as the superstar. One that builds equity in dignity. One that says, “Thank you” not just to those in stadiums, but also to those in classrooms, clinics, and checkpoints. Rewarding athletes is good. But rebuilding the morale of everyday heroes is essential. The government must now channel the same urgency and empathy used in celebrating victory toward healing national wounds. Begin with a living wage. Restore the worth of essential workers. Show that this country sees and values not only the spectacular, but also the sacrificial. That is how a nation truly grows, not just in trophies, but in truth.

*ABANDONED AND FORGOTTEN: THE PLIGHT OF ITORI GENERAL HOSPITAL* *© The Deep Thinkers* It is a truism that "Health is wealth," and a responsible and responsive government prioritizes the health of its citizens. In contrast, the present APC-led administration in Ogun State has demonstrated a lackadaisical approach, turning a deaf ear and blind eye to the persistent health challenges faced by the citizenry. Recently, it took the intervention of the media and public outcry to prompt this administration to revitalize an uncompleted hospital project in the state capital, abeokuta, initiated by the previous government of Senator Ibikunle Amosun. This government has consistently responded to calls for accountability with excuses, often employing political acolytes who distort facts and downplay obvious truths. In this article, I will share my recent experience in Itori and urge the government to rescue a growing population that lacks access to basic healthcare facilities. During a recent visit to Itori, I attended a wedding that was marred by a horrific accident en route. The scene was chaotic, with onlookers fearing the worst for those involved. As we rushed to assist the victims, I asked for directions to the nearest general hospital. The responses I received were alarming. Locals, including a resident who wished to remain anonymous, expressed feelings of abandonment by the current Ogun State administration, citing the non-functional General Hospital in Itori as a prime example. Alhaji Majakodunmi, another resident, criticized the administration's focus on superficial projects and social media publicity, rather than addressing the pressing needs of the community. These concerns highlight the growing distrust between the government and its citizens. It is imperative for the Ogun State administration to prioritize the welfare of its people, particularly in terms of healthcare, and take concrete steps to restore their trust. The General Hospital Itori, situated in Ewekoro, Ogun State, was established by former Governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel, with the facilitation of the Commissioner for Health, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo. The hospital was designed to provide quality medical care to the people of Itori and surrounding communities, reducing the need for lengthy journeys to Ifo and Abeokuta for healthcare. Unfortunately, the hospital has deteriorated significantly, becoming overrun with rodents and ultimately being shut down without alternative healthcare provisions for the local population. The abandonment of the hospital has had devastating consequences for the residents, particularly the most vulnerable populations: children and the elderly. The once-thriving hospital now lies in ruins, a testament to the neglect and abandonment by the authorities. The hospital's current state is pitiful, with weeds sprouting through cracks in the walls, overgrown lawns, and medical equipment carted away. The consequences have put the health of residents at risk, with children and the elderly being the most vulnerable. The government must take immediate action to revitalize the hospital and provide quality healthcare to the residents of Ewekoro. The people deserve access to proper medical care, and it is the government's responsibility to ensure their well-being.

Aderinokun's commitment to supporting local businesses and improving community infrastructure On February 9, 2023, Chief Olumide Aderinokun made a significant contribution to the Odo Eran market (Lafenwa) by donating a modern borehole to the Meat Sellers Association. This initiative was part of his commitment to ensuring that the people of Ogun Central have easy access to potable water. Two years later, the impact of this donation has been profoundly positive. The meat sellers have been enjoying a reliable supply of clean water, which has greatly enhanced their operations. Access to potable water has not only improved hygiene standards but has also streamlined their daily activities, allowing them to focus more on their business rather than the challenges of sourcing water. This initiative exemplifies how community-focused projects can lead to sustainable improvements in local economies and the quality of life for residents. Chief Aderinokun's efforts have undoubtedly made a lasting difference in the Lafenwa market, fostering a healthier and more efficient environment for the meat sellers and their customers. Epe Local Council Election: Animashaun certificate forgery allegation continues to dominate discussions in Epe The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been criticized for clearing Sura Animashaun for the upcoming council election despite a petition alleging forgery. The petitioner, Adeyemi Adedamola, claims Animashaun submitted falsified documents. The APC's decision to clear her has raised concerns about the party's commitment to due diligence and fairness. The petition detailed claims that Animashaun had submitted falsified documents during her nomination process, which, if proven true, could disqualify her from running for office. Despite the gravity of these allegations, both the DSS and the APC have reportedly ignored the petition, allowing Animashaun to proceed with her candidacy. This decision has sparked outrage among many Epe indigenes, who feel that the integrity of the electoral process is being compromised. Critics argue that the failure to investigate the allegations thoroughly undermines public trust in the electoral system and raises questions about the accountability of political figures. The impeachment of a public official, such as the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, underscores the importance of accountability and integrity in governance. If there are allegations against Hon. Animashaun, it is crucial that a thorough and impartial investigation is conducted to determine the veracity of those claims. If found guilty, appropriate legal actions should be taken in accordance with the law. Epe, being referred to as a "land of the first," highlights its historical significance or achievements in various fields. It is important for communities to uphold values of integrity and transparency, especially in leadership positions, to foster trust and progress. As the election date approaches, the controversy surrounding Animashaun's candidacy continues to dominate discussions within the community, with many calling for transparency and fairness in the electoral process. The situation remains fluid, and it is unclear how it will impact the upcoming local council elections in Epe.

Lagos PDP Kicks As Epe Council Boss Gets Enmeshed In Alleged Certificates Forgery The Youth wing of the Lagos State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), under the leadership of Comrade Agboola Akinpelu Dare is calling for an investigation into allegations of certificate forgery against Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, the chairperson of Epe Local Government Area. This isn't the first time Animashaun has faced these allegations, which initially surfaced ahead of the last council election in Epe local government ¹. According to a video shared on social media by Nifemi Vibrant, Animashaun is accused of forging her certificates, which would disqualify her from holding public office under the 2022 Electoral Act. Another prominent figure from Epe, Olanrewaju Babatunde, also known as Bob Tarner, has come forward to accuse Animashaun of forging her certificates from primary to university level ¹. The PDP is urging the Department of State Security Services (DSS) and other relevant government agencies to invite Animashaun for questioning and to scrutinize her credentials. They argue that Epe is known for academic excellence and deserves better representation ¹.
