She said he would regularly come around her hostel, offer to pay for things at the Mammy Market, sit outside her hostel to chat with her and tell her about his personal life and previous relationships.

At first, she saw him simply as a friend.

That changed when he asked her to date him.

She rejected him and told him clearly that she was married.

According to her, the man became angry and even questioned why she was not wearing a wedding ring.

She then decided to end the friendship.

But that was apparently when the real trouble began.

She said the man continued appearing wherever she went and eventually started standing outside her hostel window, making her roommates uncomfortable.

One day, she decided to confront him and make it clear that she wanted him to stop.

According to her narration, the man suddenly hugged her.

As she tried to push him away, some of his friends who were nearby allegedly started taking photographs and recording videos.

Not long afterwards, she received a photograph which appeared to show her kissing the man.

She immediately became suspicious because, according to her, the man's face was not properly visible.

Then came a video.

The video allegedly appeared to show the two of them kissing.

She said she knew something was wrong and believed the photograph and video had been manipulated using artificial intelligence.

But before she could properly deal with the situation, she said the man called her and threatened her.

According to her, he told her that if he could not have her, he would make sure she was sent out of the NYSC camp.

He allegedly instructed her to meet him behind the Mammy Market within ten minutes.

That night, she tried several times to contact her husband, but she could not get through.

She decided that she would report the matter to her camp coordinator the following morning.

Unfortunately, she never got the opportunity to explain herself first.

By morning, she said the first message waiting on her phone was a formal query from the camp coordinator.

The query allegedly accused her of having sex with a man the previous night and gave her only one hour to respond.

Imagine being married, knowing that you did not do what you were accused of, and suddenly being confronted with what appears to be evidence against you.

She denied the allegation and explained what she claimed had actually happened.

The matter was subsequently taken before a disciplinary panel involving senior NYSC officials, security personnel and a platoon leader.

A fellow corps member was assigned to represent her.

Interestingly, according to her, the man who had allegedly been pursuing her was also called as a witness against her.

Despite her representative reportedly believing that she was innocent, the panel found her in breach of the camp rules.

She was disciplined and sent out of the camp.

But her biggest fear was not even the expulsion.

She was worried about what would happen when NYSC contacted her husband, who was listed as her next of kin.

When her husband eventually reached her, he reportedly asked her just one question:

"Did you do it?"

She said no.

Then came the response that she says gave her hope:

"I believe you."

Her husband did not stop at simply believing her.

According to her account, he hired a lawyer and took the matter further, eventually escalating it to the office of the NYSC Director-General in Abuja.

The case was reportedly reopened.

A technical team was then brought in to examine the photograph and video that had been used against her.

According to the woman's account, the technical analysis found that the materials were approximately 98 percent AI-generated or manipulated.

NYSC reportedly apologised and allowed her to return to camp and complete her service.

She also claimed that the male corps member who allegedly orchestrated the frame-up was punished with a one-month extension of service.

Years later, she has decided to publicly tell her story.

And honestly, this case raises some serious questions.

What happens when AI-generated images and videos become so convincing that they can be used as "evidence" against an innocent person?

How should disciplinary panels verify digital evidence before making decisions that can completely change someone's life?

And what protection is available to corps members who face harassment, blackmail or revenge attacks?

The woman's story is also a warning about rejection.

She has advised young women, particularly married women, to be careful about accepting gifts, favours and excessive attention from people whose intentions may not be what they appear to be.

At the same time, her account should not be taken to mean that every allegation made against someone is false. Her claim is specifically that, in her case, the evidence used against her was fabricated after she rejected the man's advances.

Twelve people, including two infants aged about 41 days from different families, were rescued alive. Sadly, an adult woman, a baby girl, and a 75-year-old man lost their lives. Their bodies were later recovered and taken to the Ifo Mortuary.

Following the tragedy, conflicting reports flooded social media, with some users claiming the building was four storeys high and alleging a much higher death toll. However, official information later confirmed that it was a two-storey building, three people died, and 12 others were rescued alive.

Some residents also alleged that the Ogun State Fire and Safety Services were the first emergency responders to arrive after distress calls were made, while ambulances and other rescue agencies reportedly arrived later to support the operation.
