Politics › 2027: Why I Support Tinubu’s Re-election — Alex Otti by Global247(op): 12:13pm On Sep 25
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has explained his position on President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, saying he has to support the President in his capacity as a governor and member of the National Economic Council.

Otti made the clarification in an exclusive interview aired on Arise Television on Friday, after he was asked whether his support for Tinubu’s re-election amounted to a “comfortable arrangement” between him, a Labour Party governor, and the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The governor said he was not in a position to oppose Tinubu’s candidacy, adding that doing so while being part of the government could lead to “implosion”.

“It works the way you have said. It’s a statement of fact. I am not in a position to oppose his candidacy,” Otti said.

In Nigeria's rapidly growing creative and entrepreneurial landscape, some individuals are building careers that extend beyond a single industry. One of them is Oyeleye Michael Isaac, professionally known as Mike Ire, a Nigerian recording artist and entrepreneur whose interests span music, business, digital marketing and creative innovation.

While many people may first encounter the name Mike Ire through his music, Oyeleye Michael Isaac has also established himself as an entrepreneur through his involvement with Micohype Beauty Hair, a Nigerian human hair brand.

Who Is Mike Ire?

Mike Ire is the professional name of Oyeleye Michael Isaac, a Nigerian creative and entrepreneur who is developing his career across music and business.

As a recording artist, Mike Ire has released music reflecting his interest in faith, inspiration, gratitude and personal growth. His music represents one side of his creative identity, while entrepreneurship represents another important part of his professional journey.

For Mike Ire, the two worlds are not necessarily separate. Both music and entrepreneurship require creativity, consistency, discipline, branding and the ability to connect with people.

From Entrepreneurship to Music

Before becoming more visible as a recording artist, Oyeleye Michael Isaac had already developed experience in entrepreneurship and digital business.

He is associated with Micohype Beauty Hair, a Nigerian hair and beauty company known for its human hair products and human hair braiding extensions.

The business has received coverage from several Nigerian media organizations. P.M. News, for example, previously identified Oyeleye Michael Isaac among the founders of Micohype Beauty Hair, while The Guardian also reported on his leadership role within the company.

This entrepreneurial background has given Michael practical experience in areas such as branding, marketing, customer relations, digital promotion and business development.

Fashion/Clothing Market › Why Salt & Pepper Hair Is Becoming One Of Nigeia’s Most Interesting Braiding Tr by Global247(op): 3:22pm On Aug 12
Nigeria’s beauty and hair scene has always been driven by experimentation. From bold colours to intricate braiding patterns, Nigerian women continue to find new ways to turn protective hairstyles into expressions of personal style.

One trend currently attracting attention is Salt & Pepper hair — a distinctive blend of darker and lighter tones that gives braids a more natural, dimensional appearance.

Unlike traditional single-colour extensions, Salt & Pepper hair combines contrasting shades to create a look that can appear subtle from a distance while revealing more detail up close. The result is a hairstyle that feels familiar but still stands out.

The appeal of the Salt & Pepper look

Part of the appeal of Salt & Pepper extensions is their versatility.

https://mhbhairs.com/premium-human-hair-braiding-extensions/

The colour combination can work with different braid styles, including knotless braids, boho braids, Ghana weaving and other protective hairstyles. It can also be combined with natural-coloured extensions for people who want a less dramatic transition between colours.

For Nigerian consumers who are becoming more adventurous with their hairstyles, this creates another way to move beyond the conventional black, brown and burgundy extensions that have dominated the market for years.

The trend also fits into a broader shift in beauty towards more individualised looks. Rather than following one particular colour trend, customers are increasingly interested in combinations that give their hairstyles a distinctive character.

MicoHype Beauty Hair joins the trend

Nigerian human hair brand MicoHype Beauty Hair is among the local brands responding to the growing interest in the colour combination.

The brand recently introduced a collection of Salt & Pepper human hair extensions, adding the colour to its wider range of braiding hair textures.

MicoHype Beauty Hair specialises in human hair extensions designed specifically for braiding and protective hairstyles. Its range includes textures such as Wet & Wavy, Kinky Straight, Deep Wave, Water Wave, Body Wave, Italian Curly, Dreadlocks and Afro Kinky.

The addition of Salt & Pepper gives customers another option for creating textured and colour-blended hairstyles without having to rely exclusively on conventional extension colours.

A trend that is not limited to one hairstyle

One reason colour trends spread quickly in Nigeria is the flexibility of braiding.

A single type of extension can be transformed into several different hairstyles depending on the technique used by the stylist. Salt & Pepper hair is no different.

A customer may choose a full Salt & Pepper look for a more noticeable effect, while another person may combine it with natural black or brown hair to create a softer blend.

This flexibility is particularly relevant to the growing popularity of boho and knotless braids, where the texture and colour of the extension can become an important part of the overall appearance.

The changing Nigerian hair market

The Nigerian hair industry has evolved considerably in recent years. Customers are no longer simply looking for extensions that provide length. Texture, colour, quality and the ability to create specific looks have become increasingly important considerations.

Social media has also accelerated this change. A hairstyle can quickly move from a niche look to a mainstream trend after appearing repeatedly on Instagram, TikTok or other platforms.

Salt & Pepper hair fits naturally into this environment because it offers something visually different without being excessively bright or unconventional.

It is a colour choice that can be styled in several ways, making it appealing to people who want their braids to look different while remaining wearable.

What comes next for the trend?

Whether Salt & Pepper becomes a long-term staple or eventually gives way to another colour combination remains to be seen. However, its growing presence reflects something larger happening within Nigeria’s beauty culture.

Consumers are becoming more willing to experiment with colour, texture and styling techniques, while local hair brands are responding by expanding the options available to them.

For MicoHype Beauty Hair, the launch of its Salt & Pepper collection represents another step in that direction — bringing a growing international hair trend into the hands of Nigerian customers and stylists.

As the country’s beauty industry continues to evolve, colour combinations such as Salt & Pepper may become less of a niche experiment and more of a regular feature in Nigeria’s ever-changing braiding culture.

Sports › Argentina Vs Spain Halftime: Tactical Battle Ends Goalless In World Cup 2026 Fin by Global247(op): 9:08pm On Jul 19
The Argentina vs Spain halftime score remains 0-0 as the FIFA World Cup 2026 final delivers an intense tactical contest at MetLife Stadium. With football's biggest prize on the line, both nations produced a disciplined first-half performance, but neither side managed to find the breakthrough before the referee blew for halftime.

Millions of fans around the world have been treated to a fascinating battle between two of international football's strongest teams, with Argentina relying on experience and resilience while Spain showcased their trademark possession-based style.

A Cagey but High-Quality First Half

The opening 45 minutes were filled with intensity rather than goals. Both teams approached the final with caution, knowing that one mistake could prove decisive.

Argentina pressed aggressively whenever Spain attempted to build attacks from the back, forcing several turnovers in midfield. Spain, however, remained calm under pressure and continued to dominate possession, patiently searching for gaps in Argentina's defensive structure.

Despite several promising attacking moves from both sides, neither goalkeeper was seriously troubled, highlighting the defensive quality on display.

Messi Leads Argentina's Charge

Playing in what could be the final World Cup match of his remarkable career, Lionel Messi once again became the focal point of Argentina's attacking play.

The captain frequently dropped into midfield to collect possession, attempting to link play and create opportunities for his teammates. Every time Messi touched the ball, Spain's defenders quickly closed him down, refusing to give the legendary forward enough space to dictate the game.

Although he produced a few dangerous moments, Spain's organised defensive setup ensured Argentina created only limited clear-cut chances before halftime.

Spain Stick to Their Winning Formula

Spain remained faithful to the possession-based football that has carried them to the World Cup final.

Their midfield controlled large portions of the game, recycling possession with patience while waiting for openings to appear. Quick passing combinations and intelligent movement allowed Spain to spend long periods inside Argentina's half, but the defending champions remained compact and difficult to break down.

Argentina's defenders stayed disciplined throughout the first half, preventing Spain from turning possession into goals.

Defensive Discipline Defines the Match

If the first half belonged to any department, it was defence.

Both backlines delivered composed performances, making crucial interceptions, blocking dangerous passes and limiting space inside the penalty area.

Every attack was quickly met by organised defending, resulting in very few clear scoring opportunities despite the high quality of both teams.

The match has become a fascinating tactical contest where patience and concentration are proving just as important as attacking flair

Sports › Messi And Lamine Yamal Set For Historic World Cup Final Showdown by Global247(op): 10:35pm On Jul 17
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final promises more than a battle between Argentina and Spain it offers football fans a rare moment where two generations of greatness collide. Lionel Messi, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in football history, will face Barcelona's teenage sensation Lamine Yamal for the first time in what could become one of the sport's most memorable finals.

For many supporters, Sunday's match represents far more than a contest for the World Cup trophy. It symbolizes the meeting of a legendary career that has defined modern football and a rising star whose extraordinary talent has positioned him as one of the game's brightest prospects.

The story becomes even more remarkable because the two players unknowingly crossed paths nearly two decades ago, long before anyone imagined they would one day compete on football's biggest stage.

A Chance Meeting That Became Football History

Back in 2007, Lionel Messi was a young Barcelona forward beginning to establish himself as one of Europe's most exciting talents.

At the same time, five-month-old Lamine Yamal attended a charity photoshoot after his family won a Barcelona and UNICEF raffle that paired young families with first-team players.

Photographer Joan Monfort captured a series of images showing Messi gently holding and bathing the infant. At the time, the photographs appeared to be nothing more than a memorable keepsake for the family.

Years later, those same images would take on entirely new meaning after Lamine Yamal emerged as one of football's most exciting young players.

The photographs resurfaced following Spain's triumph at UEFA Euro 2024, with Yamal's father describing the moment as "the beginning of two legends."

Today, those pictures have become one of football's most extraordinary examples of destiny.

Messi's Legacy Continues

At 39, Messi enters another World Cup final with a legacy already secured.

His career has included league titles, Champions League triumphs, Ballon d'Or awards, Copa América success, and World Cup glory. Yet his continued presence at the highest level speaks to an extraordinary level of professionalism, discipline, and consistency rarely witnessed in modern sport.

For Argentina, Messi remains more than just their captain.

He continues to influence games through his vision, leadership, technical ability, and experience, qualities that have guided the defending champions throughout another impressive World Cup campaign.

A second consecutive World Cup title would further strengthen his place among football's greatest icons.

Lamine Yamal's Remarkable Rise

While Messi represents football's established greatness, Lamine Yamal embodies its future.

Still only 19 years old, the Barcelona winger has already achieved milestones that many professionals never reach throughout their entire careers.

Having won multiple domestic titles and played a crucial role in Spain's international success, Yamal has demonstrated exceptional maturity despite his young age.

His fearless approach, creativity, dribbling ability, and decision-making have drawn comparisons with some of football's greatest attacking players.

However, many observers believe his greatest strength lies in his composure under pressure.

Rather than appearing overwhelmed by major occasions, he has consistently embraced them.

Crime › How Abductors Abandoned Oyo Pupils And Teachers: What The Rescue Reveals by Global247(op): 11:44am On Jul 12
The rescue of dozens of pupils and teachers abducted from schools in Oyo State marks one of the most significant security breakthroughs in Nigeria this year. After weeks of uncertainty, emotional appeals from families, and sustained pressure on security agencies, the victims have finally regained their freedom, bringing relief to communities that had lived in fear since the mass kidnapping.

Government officials confirmed that the victims were rescued through coordinated security operations, insisting that no ransom or concessions were made to the kidnappers. While the successful operation has been widely welcomed, it also raises important questions about school security, intelligence gathering, and how Nigeria can better prevent similar attacks in the future.

The incident is more than just another kidnapping story. It reflects the broader security challenges confronting Nigeria and the urgent need to protect educational institutions from criminal groups that increasingly view schools as vulnerable targets.

How the Oyo School Abduction Unfolded

The crisis began when armed men launched coordinated attacks on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, abducting dozens of pupils and teachers during school hours.

The attack left families devastated and disrupted education across the affected communities. Reports also confirmed that two teachers lost their lives during the ordeal one while attempting to escape and another while in captivity highlighting the deadly risks educators now face in parts of the country.

For weeks, uncertainty surrounded the victims' whereabouts as security agencies intensified efforts to locate them.

Authorities eventually announced that all surviving captives had been rescued, describing the operation as the result of sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated security action.

A Victory for Intelligence-Led Security Operations

One of the most significant aspects of the rescue is the government's claim that no ransom was paid.

If confirmed, the...

Music/Radio › Why Independent Gospel Artists Deserve More Attention by Global247(op): 10:15am On Jul 11
The Nigerian gospel music industry has continued to grow over the years, yet much of the public attention still goes to a small number of well-known names. Meanwhile, many independent gospel musicians are consistently releasing new songs that carry meaningful messages but receive very little public discussion.

This raises an interesting question: is good music enough for an independent artist to be noticed today, or has visibility become more important than talent?

One example that recently caught my attention is a song by gospel singer Mike Ire titled “Shine Your Eyes.” Rather than focusing on entertainment alone, the song encourages listeners to think about spiritual awareness, personal responsibility, and staying grounded in their faith.

Whether people agree with the message or not, songs like this show that many independent gospel artists are still choosing to write about real-life issues instead of simply following current musical trends.

The challenge, however, is that many of these artists struggle to reach a wider audience. Without the marketing budgets of major record labels, they often rely on social media, blogs, and word of mouth to introduce their music to listeners.

This isn’t unique to gospel music. Across different genres, independent musicians often face the same obstacles. Producing quality music is only one part of the journey; getting people to discover it can be just as difficult.

For listeners, this presents an opportunity to look beyond the biggest names and explore music from emerging artists. Sometimes the most meaningful songs come from musicians who are still building their audience.

What do you think? Do independent gospel artists receive the recognition they deserve, or do established names naturally attract most of the attention? Have you discovered any lesser-known gospel musicians whose music impressed you recently

Health › Ankle Healing And Deep Yin Stretching: How Gentle Movement Can Relieve Severe An by Global247(op): 10:04am On Jul 11
Ankle pain can be one of the most frustrating and limiting forms of physical discomfort. When the ankle becomes extremely sore, swollen, or tender, even the simplest movements walking, standing, or turning can feel overwhelming. For many people, ankle pain doesn’t just affect mobility; it affects mood, sleep, independence, and emotional well-being.

When an ankle injury or persistent soreness becomes “very, very sore,” as many people describe it, the body is asking for care, patience, and the right kind of healing approach. This article explores ankle healing through gentle methods, with a special focus on yin deep stretching, a slow and mindful practice that can support recovery without forcing the body.

Understanding Severe Ankle Pain
The ankle is a complex joint made up of bones, ligaments, tendons, and muscles working together to support the entire body’s weight. Because of this, even minor strain can feel intense, and deeper injuries can take time to heal.

Severe ankle pain may come from:

Ligament strain or sprain
Overuse or repetitive stress
Poor circulation or stiffness
Previous injuries that never fully healed
Inflammation caused by tight surrounding tissues
When pain lingers, the instinct is often to either push through it or completely stop moving. Both extremes can slow down ankle healing. What the ankle often needs instead is gentle, intentional movement that restores circulation without adding stress.

Why Gentle Movement Is Essential for Ankle Healing
Complete rest can be helpful in the early stages of injury, but long-term stiffness can set in if the ankle is not gradually reintroduced to movement. Gentle stretching encourages blood flow, reduces swelling, and helps tissues regain elasticity.

This is where yin stretching becomes especially valuable. Unlike aggressive stretching or fast-paced exercise, yin focuses on slow, supported positions held for longer periods of time. This allows the deeper connective tissues around the ankle to soften naturally.

What Is Yin Deep Stretching?
Yin stretching is a slow, meditative style of stretching that targets ligaments, fascia, and joints rather than muscles alone. Instead of forcing flexibility, yin encourages the body to relax into a position over time.

For ankle healing, yin stretching:

Reduces stiffness without strain
Improves joint mobility gently
Encourages circulation in deep tissues
Helps calm the nervous system, which can reduce pain perception
Because yin stretching is done slowly and with awareness, it is ideal for people dealing with pain, sensitivity, or emotional stress connected to injury.

Yin Stretching for Ankle Healing
When practicing yin stretching for ankle healing, comfort and patience are essential. The goal is not to push into pain, but to explore sensation gently.

Key Principles to Follow
Move slowly and mindfully
Use pillows, towels, or blankets for support
Stop immediately if sharp pain appears
Breathe deeply throughout each stretch
Gentle Yin-Based Ankle Stretches
1. Seated Ankle Circles (Slow and Supported)
Sit comfortably and gently rotate the ankle in slow circles. Keep the movement small and controlled. This helps lubricate the joint and restore natural motion.

2. Supported Ankle Flex and Point
While seated or lying down, slowly point the foot away from you and then gently flex it back. Hold each position for a few breaths without forcing the range.

3. Reclined Ankle Stretch
Lie on your back with the ankle elevated slightly on a pillow. Let gravity gently assist circulation while you softly flex and relax the foot.

4. Yin Toe and Sole Stretch
With the ankle supported, gently stretch the sole of the foot and toes. Tension in the foot often contributes to ankle pain, and releasing it can bring relief.

Each stretch can be held for one to three minutes, depending on comfort level.

Politics › APC Youth Defends Remi Tinubu’s Akara Comment As Debate Over Poverty And Dignity by Global247(op): 9:52am On Jul 11
The Remi Tinubu akara comment has continued to dominate Nigeria’s public discourse, exposing deep tensions around poverty, gender, and the realities of economic survival. As criticism mounted over the First Lady’s advice encouraging Nigerians, especially women to embrace small-scale trading, an All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leader has stepped forward to defend her remarks, arguing that petty trading represents dignity, not degradation.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the unnamed APC youth leader insisted that selling akara or kuli-kuli was far more honorable than being associated with crime or exploitation. His remarks, captured on video and widely circulated on social media, have reignited the controversy and expanded it beyond the First Lady’s original comments into a broader national conversation about class, morality, and empowerment in modern Nigeria.

What the APC Youth Leader Said
The youth leader made his comments while addressing the alleged replacement of Adamu Tanko in the Gurara Federal Constituency of Niger State. However, it was his response to public backlash against the First Lady that drew the most attention.

Wearing a cap resembling those associated with President Bola Tinubu, he argued that Nigerians were misrepresenting the First Lady’s intentions.

According to him, there was nothing shameful about selling akara, kuli-kuli, or other street foods.

“Is it not better to be noble than to be doing filthy things?” he asked rhetorically.
“Is it not better they know you as an akara seller than to be known as an armed robber?”

He went further, making comments that quickly sparked backlash of their own, suggesting that petty trading was preferable to women being labelled prostitutes, hookup girls, or sugar mummies.

The Akara Comment That Started It All
The controversy began when First Lady Oluremi Tinubu encouraged Nigerians to consider small-scale businesses such as selling akara, roasted corn, and kuli-kuli ventures she described as requiring little startup capital.

She made the remarks while addressing journalists after the Renewed Hope Initiative’s second-quarter meeting with the wives of state governors at the State House in Abuja.

While supporters viewed the statement as an endorsement of micro-enterprise and self-reliance, critics argued it trivialised the severe economic hardship facing millions of Nigerians amid inflation, rising food prices, and stagnant wages.

For many struggling citizens, the suggestion felt disconnected from reality.

Defending the First Lady’s Broader Interventions
In his defence, the APC youth leader argued that the akara comment should not be used to judge the First Lady’s entire record on empowerment.

He cited several interventions attributed to her initiatives, including:

₦2 billion donated to tuberculosis-related causes
₦1 billion allocated to tackling malnutrition
₦1.5 billion reportedly directed toward addressing cancer and hypertension cases
He also referenced the ₦100 million grant distributed to women, explaining that beneficiaries were encouraged to choose any small business of their preference not specifically akara trading.

“My mother sells akara,” he said, insisting that such work should not be looked down upon.

Why the Comment Struck a Nerve
The strong public reaction to the Remi Tinubu akara comment reveals more than just disagreement over words it highlights Nigeria’s widening economic and social fault lines.

1. The Reality of Economic Hardship
For many Nigerians, especially urban youth and graduates, petty trading is not a choice but a last resort. Critics argue that framing it as empowerment ignores structural failures such as unemployment, inflation, and weak social safety nets.

2. Gender and Class Sensitivities
The suggestion that women should turn to small-scale trading touched a nerve, particularly among women who feel the burden of economic survival falls disproportionately on them.

The APC youth leader’s comparison between petty trading and prostitution further inflamed the situation, with many accusing him of reinforcing harmful stereotypes.

Crime › Kidnapped Oyo Pupils And Teachers Regain Freedom As Security Forces Secure by Global247(op): 10:20pm On Jul 10
The Oyo pupils and teachers rescued after weeks in captivity have finally reunited with their families, bringing relief to communities across Oyo State and renewing hope in Nigeria's ongoing fight against kidnapping and terrorism.

The successful rescue, announced by the Presidency, marks the end of a traumatic ordeal that began when armed attackers stormed three schools in Orire Local Government Area on May 15, 2026, abducting dozens of pupils and educators in one of the state's most disturbing attacks on the education sector in recent years.

Beyond the celebrations surrounding their release, the incident has once again highlighted the urgent need to strengthen school security, improve intelligence gathering, and address the growing threat posed by criminal groups targeting educational institutions across Nigeria.

Presidency Confirms Rescue Operation

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development through a statement shared on his verified X account.

According to him, all the abducted pupils and teachers were successfully rescued through the efforts of Nigeria's security agencies.

He also emphasized that no concessions were made to the kidnappers, stating that the government did not negotiate with the terrorists or meet any of their reported demands to secure the victims' freedom.

The announcement was welcomed by parents, teachers, and education stakeholders who had waited anxiously for weeks as security agencies intensified efforts to locate the captives.

The Attack That Shocked Oyo State

The abduction occurred when heavily armed men invaded three schools in the Esiele and Yawota communities within Orire Local Government Area.

The affected schools included:

Community Grammar School
Baptist Nursery and Primary School
L.A. Primary School

During the coordinated attack, 39 pupils and seven teachers, including a school principal, were taken into captivity.

The incident immediately sparked nationwide concern, with many describing it as another painful reminder of the growing insecurity affecting schools in several parts of Nigeria.

Lives Lost During the Ordeal

While the rescue operation has brought relief, it cannot erase the tragedy suffered during the kidnapping.

Teacher Joel Adesiyan reportedly lost his life while attempting to escape from the attackers during the initial assault.

Another teacher, Michael Oyedokun, was later killed while in captivity, with reports indicating that he was beheaded by the kidnappers.

These deaths have left families, colleagues, and students mourning the loss of educators who dedicated their lives to shaping future generations.

Their sacrifices also underscore the enormous risks teachers increasingly face while carrying out their professional responsibilities in vulnerable communities.

Government Maintained No-Ransom Position

Reports indicated that the kidnappers demanded several conditions before releasing the victims.

Among the alleged demands were:

Payment of ransom.
Release of detained terrorist commanders.
Provision of two Hilux vehicles.
Implementation of Sharia-related legal demands.

Despite these reports, the Oyo State Government consistently maintained that it would not pay ransom or negotiate under conditions that could encourage future kidnappings.

The Presidency's confirmation that the victims were rescued without concessions reinforces the government's stated policy of refusing to reward criminal groups with financial or political gains.

Impact on Education and Public Confidence

The kidnapping disrupted academic activities across affected communities and generated widespread fear among parents.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) responded by embarking on a month-long strike to demand stronger efforts toward securing the release of the victims and improving safety within schools.

Although the strike was later suspended, the incident exposed the psychological impact insecurity continues to have on Nigeria's education system.

Many parents now face difficult decisions about whether to keep their children in school, particularly in rural communities where security infrastructure remains limited.
