Authorities in the Russian Republic of Chechnya have announced a ban on music that they consider too fast or slow.

Minister of Culture, Musa Dadayev announced the decision to limit all musical, vocal, and choreographic compositions to a tempo ranging from 80 to 116 beats per minute (BPM) at a meeting Friday, the Russian state news agency TASS reported.

“(I) have announced the final decision, agreed with the head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Akhmatovich Kadyrov, that from now on all musical, vocal, and choreographic works must correspond to a tempo of 80 to 116 beats per minute,” Dadayev said, according to TASS.

The apex bank mentioned that foreign currencies can only be used as collateral for loans issued in Naira when the foreign currency collateral is Eurobonds issued by the Federal Government of Nigeria; or Guarantees of foreign banks, including Standby Letters of Credit

The CBN directed that all loans currently secured with dollar-denominated collaterals other than as mentioned above should be wound down within 90 days and that failure to comply will attract sanctions. Read below

‘’The Central Bank of Nigeria has observed the prevailing situation where bank customers use Foreign Currency (FCY) as collaterals for Naira loans.

Consequently, the current practice of using foreign currency-denominated collaterals for Naira loans is hereby prohibited, except, where the foreign currency collateral is:

* Eurobonds issued by the Federal Government of Nigeria; or

* Guarantees of foreign banks, including Standby Letters of Credit

In this regard, all loans currently secured with dollar-denominated collaterals other than as mentioned above should be wound down within 90 days, failing which such exposures shall be risk-weighted 150% for Capital Adequacy Ratio computation, in addition to other regulatory sanctions.

The Lagos State Government is set to demolish a portion of the popular Landmark Beach Resort to give way for the coastal highway construction of the Lagos-Calabar road project.

This was contained in a letter to the proprietor of Landmark Beach Resort, Paul Onwuanibe, dated March 19, 2024, and signed by the Deputy Director (Development Matters Department) Tpl Shomolu O., on behalf of the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

In the letter, Lagos state authorities notified Onwuanibe that he had seven days to leave his multimillion-dollar beach resort so it could be torn down.

Onwuanibe, 58, explained that the government said his Landmark Beach resort – a top-tier destination visited by about a million local and foreign visitors last year – had to be removed as it “falls within the right of way” of a planned 700-kilometer (435-mile) coastal highway designed to link the former capital city to Calabar, a port city near the border with Cameroon.

Onwuanibe told CNN he had obtained the land in 2007 before the plans for the coastal highway were drawn up, and felt a mix of emotions after receiving the demolition order, which also urged him to file compensation claims.

“One was amazement, second was concern and the third one was, ‘is this real or is this an April Fools’ (Day prank in) advance?’” Onwuanibe said.

The beach resort which is valued at over $200 million, according to Onwuanibe, is home to over 80 businesses and provides more than 4,000 direct jobs. It also generates over 2 billion naira ($1.5 million) in annual tax revenue.

Recall that the Lagos state government had written the company in two different national newspaper on the demolition.

Ayo Olumofin, the lawyer to Idris Okuneye, a.k.a Bobrisky, has said that the popular crossdresser pleaded “guilty” to charges of abuse of Naira when they were read to him.

The social media celebrity was arraigned on Friday, April 5, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, before Justice Abimbola Awogboro sitting at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos over mutilation of the Naira notes.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro deferred judgment in the matter to Tuesday, April 9, 2024, after Bobrisky pleaded guilty to a four-count charge of Naira abuse brought against him by the EFCC.

The judge ordered that the convict be remanded in EFCC custody pending sentence. The defendant’s counsel, Ayo Olumofin,

Speaking after the adjournment, the defendant’s counsel said; “There is no striking out. She pleaded guilty. The court is the master of the court. So there is nothing we can do about the adjournment. But we cited the relevant section to the honourable court that Idris is a first offender and by the relevant provisions of the Criminal Justice Act, the court will not impose maximum punishment on her

A former bank employee, Mike Ilishebo, 44, allegedly killed his 35-year-old wife, Valerie Franco, before taking his own life in Zambia.

The incident happened at Meanwood Ndeke Phase One area in Lusaka on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

Police Public Relations officer, Rae Hamoonga, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, April 4, said that Mr. Ilishebo strangled Valerie with an electric power adapter cable and stabbed her in the stomach with a knife.

“Yesterday, Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at approximately 16:05 hours, Chelston Police Station, through Ndeke-vorna Police Post, received a distressing report from Alice Mapulanga, 38, that Mr. Ilishebo has perpetrated a heinous act against his wife, Valerie, aged 35,” he said.

"Upon the arrival of Police Scenes of Crime officers at the scene, Ms. Franco's lifeless body was discovered lying in the bedroom adjacent to the bed, with a knife embedded in her abdomen

“Meanwhile, Mr Ilishebo was found deceased in the sitting room, with a black substance coming from his mouth

“It's alleged that Mr Ilishebo strangled Ms Franco using an electric power adapter cable and subsequently stabbed her in the stomach with a knife, before taking a poisonous......................"

A shocking video captured the moment a bull elephant in Zambia charged at a safari vehicle flipping it over several times and killing an 80-year-old American woman during an expedition.

The unidentified woman was among six tourists with the group Wilderness Zambia who were out on a photography tour Saturday, March 30, when they came under attack by the crazed animal, the Telegraph reported.

“At around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning the six guests were on the game drive when the vehicle was unexpectedly charged by the bull elephant,” Wilderness Zambia CEO Keith Vincent said in a statement.

Distressing footage captured by a passenger shows the elephant charging toward the vehicle as it cruises along a bush-lined road before suddenly stopping when its path was blocked. The passenger continues to record as the animal lunges at the vehicle and flips it over.

Allen Onyeoma, the CEO of Air Peace, has said that those who earn two hundred thousand Naira monthly in Nigeria are better off than those earning two thousand pounds in the United Kingdom.

He said this while appearing as a guest on TVC.

Speaking to the host about the economic crisis and strength of the Naira, Onyema said he agrees that the bulk of the issue is "artificial".

He added: "Go to London, if you earn two thousand pounds a month in London, you're a pauper. What two thousand pounds can afford you is like two thousand Naira."

He continued: "The person earning two hundred thousand Naira in Nigeria is better."

Onyema added that with earnings of 200,000, a Nigerian can afford a maid, a driver and other domestic staff.

He said he believes completely that the Naira has more value than is being projected when compared to other foreign currencies.

He added that Nigerians should stop demonetising the country.
