What You’ll Do


Design and build distributed systems in Go that help customers send timely, relevant messages at scale
Collaborate across teams to debug issues and deliver reliable solutions
Own problems end to end - from architecture and schema design to testing, deployment, and monitoring
Share knowledge and raise the bar through sharing your progress publicly with short videos, thoughtful writing, and mentorship
Use AI agents to make multi-file changes by scoping the work, writing the prompt, and verifying the output

What we're looking for


7+ years of experience building scalable, distributed systems in Go (or similar statically typed languages)
Comfort working in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP)
Familiarity with relational databases (we use MySQL) and an understanding of performance tradeoffs
Experience with observability tooling and operating production systems
A bias for action over perfection, and pride in owning technical decisions

Senior Backend Engineer (Go)

Our client is a fintech company scaling its transaction infrastructure and needs a senior backend engineer who has shipped production systems that handle real money. You'll own services end to end — design, build, deploy, and keep them running.

What you'll do


Design and build backend services in Go, backed by PostgreSQL

Own API design and documentation for services consumed by web and mobile clients

Improve reliability, observability, and performance of existing systems

Review code and mentor mid-level engineers on the team

Work with product and design to scope and sequence delivery


What we're looking for

5+ years of backend engineering experience (must), at least 2 of them in Go

Strong SQL and relational data modelling skills

Experience running services in production on AWS or similar

Comfortable with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code basics

Clear written communication — this is a fully remote, async-friendly team

Nice to have


Payments, banking, or ledger system experience

Exposure to event-driven architecture or message queues

Open-source contributions (Must)

What key KSAs (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) must this person have:

Experience & Seniority Calibration

10+ years in software engineering, with clear evidence of operating at principal level
Demonstrated impact across multiple teams/systems (not just a single codebase)
Proven track record of architecting and scaling production systems
Deep Node.js Expertise

Expert-level, idiomatic proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript
Strong understanding of the Node.js runtime and event loop, asynchronous and non-blocking programming, performance tuning, and memory management
Experience designing modular, testable, maintainable services with frameworks such as Express, NestJS, or Fastify
