Monty Python and The Holy Grail

This movie has been constantly touted as one of the best comedy movies ever made, so I thought it was only appropriate that I had to see it.
The movie is a comedy about the misadventures of a wacky King Arthur and his knights, who go through the realm on a mission to find the Holy Grail.
MPTHG was released over 40 years ago, but funny enough, the movie still looks good. The movie was competently shot and as such it has managed to stand the test of time (for now anyway).
However, after watching this movie, I can't help but scratch my head, because I don't get it.
In a way, this movie is made up of skits and doesn't follow the traditional style of movies.
I get that the movie is going for an absurd style of humour, format and storytelling, but I unintentionally found myself cringing for a majority of the movie.
The only scenes that I thought were mildly amusing were King Arthur's interaction with the black knight and his interaction with a peasant who went on an anti-monarchy tirade. The rest of the movie was just unbearable.
I don't know if I would have enjoyed this movie better if I had seen it 40+ years ago when it was made or if I was intimately familiar with the Arthurian legend, but I didn't really enjoy myself while watching this.

The show has lost its flavour, especially from last year when gambling companies took over sponsorship.
The pity I had for Laycon from day one resurfaced today. The poor boy was used for a deal. Who knows his actual cut of the money-- that's if he's getting any. Anyway, good thing is he made some millions while in the house, and gets other things attached to the prize money.
Do you wonder why the poor boy didn't show much enthusiasm till Ebuka nudged him to show some excitement.... before he started jumping.......
And that landslide percentage? Look at his fans screaming ICONS...... It was a boost from Betway......
Time will tell.
I hope for the return of BBA or a time when BBN sponsorship doesn't come from gambling companies.
Thank God my Erica is not a part of this show till today.......

Laycon brought more credibility to the whole BBN process.................we always thought you must have foreign accents, be a slay king or queen, have boobs, butt and muscles, from a rich background..........must have multiple passports and thousands of international mileages for one to be qualified. Nigerians and the world saw an "ordinary" , lepa and lenge lenge "ugly" boy that embodies the whole struggle of a typical Nigerian. Add the Grace of intelligence and his talents...........everyone was stunned. He is the classic example of "don't judge a book by its cover"
