A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC Ayekooto Akindele has claimed that the former presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso is indirectly marketing President Bola Tinubu to Northerners. Kwankwaso had on Thursday, lamented that Tinubu’s administration neglected the northern region, stating that the federal government concentrates national resources on developing only the southern part of the country. However, the presidency, in a statement signed by Tinubu’s media aide, Sunday Dare dismissed the claim by reeling out some critical projects the current administration have so far executed in the northern region. Ayekooto, while reacting to Kwankwaso’s remark, claimed that the former Kano State Governor “doesn’t want to personally market Tinubu so that no one says he’s defending his friend”. The APC chieftain, who claimed that Kwankwaso is Tinubu’s friend, said the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement “deliberately issued a wrong statement of partial regional development against Tinubu, knowing well that the President’s team would come up with a comprehensive detail of TINUBU’s developmental strides in the North. “Kwakwanso has succeeded in doing this because the concealed achievements initially muted by those who are supposed to echo them are now being released in droves by those officially saddled with the responsibility. “Who would have thought that more than 52% of the on going infrastructural development under Tinubu is concentrated in the north. The majority thought that only 80% of our security budget is spent in the north alone, not knowing that even 52% of infrastructure funds are also going to this strategic part of our nation”. Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a letter dated July 14 and made public on Wednesday, Atiku announced his resignation, stating that the decision was necessitated by what he described as a departure from the founding ideals of the party. “I am writing to formally resign my membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,” the letter reads. “I would like to take this opportunity to express my profound gratitude for the opportunities I have been given by the Party. Serving two full terms as Vice President of Nigeria and being a Presidential candidate twice has been one of the most significant chapters of my life. “As a founding father of this esteemed Party, it is indeed heartbreaking for me to make this decision. “However, I find it necessary to part ways due to the current trajectory the Party has taken, which I believe diverges from the foundational principles we stood for. It is with a heavy heart that I resign, recognizing the irreconcilable differences that have emerged.” Atiku also extended his best wishes to the PDP and its leadership, expressing appreciation for the support he received over the years. Alongside Atiku’s exit, all local government and ward chairmen of Jada Local Government Area in Adamawa State—his home state—have also withdrawn their membership from the party. The former vice president is expected to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Source: politicsnigeria.com CC: Mynd44
