You tried paying sevis fee through transfer from a Nigerian bank? I just hope you would be able to get that money back.

I tried making payments for my sevis fee through first bank transfer from my zenith account. I got debited but the payment wasn't confirmed on the First bank website and I didn't get the receipt and deposit reference number even after four hours without refreshing the page.

Now I called the bank and they said the transfer was successful on their side but I couldn't get the receipt still.

I've tried reaching out to first bank but they haven't replied my emails, so I want to know if I should put a complaint with the us embassy or just go to First bank on Monday and make a complaint.

Regarding the amount to be in the statement, if the school is insisting on her proof of fund before i20 issuance ,despite being funded by the school, she only needs to simply send a mail to the school to ask for the minimum balance in the account. Also to answer your query about depositing the said amount in her account or not, you have to provide more details about her age, when she graduated, how long she has been working....

Just to clarify — any source of funds that isn’t reflected on your I-20 is practically useless at the embassy. The visa officers strictly work with what’s captured on your I-20. If you submitted your personal bank statement alongside your sponsor’s statement while processing your I-20, and both are reflected on it, then you’re good to go. But if your personal bank statement isn’t showing on your I-20, taking it along to the embassy for your F1 visa interview is pointless.

Also, I noticed you said "I just want to add something from my end" — as what exactly? In what capacity? Lol

Regarding the transaction narrations in your account, I don't think the VOs really have the time to be checking bank statements talk less of transaction narrations. But in case they will have your time (during your time) lol, why not build a storyline around your business (sales of gadgets)? If the business is legit, you should confidently talk about it. You can even go along with documents to prove the authenticity of the business. My only concern is that I hope the visa officer doesn’t get the impression you’re more of a businessman than a serious student.

My plan is to say my parents have been saving these funds with me over the years incase of emergency, however every deposit in the account has narration related to sales of gadget because that’s what I’m into. All deposit in the account is in my name because it was sent from my personal account to the account as savings over the years .

You jumped a step before going to the bank.

Log in to AVITS. Schedule your interview with your ds 160 bar code and i20. Then generate payment slip. That's what you need to go with to the bank to make your payment. Also, you can pay through bank transfer.

No, it's not possible for you to pay it from Nigeria. You have to get someone in the US to pay on your behalf or you can process the payment on PAY4ME App

I'm not sure how possible it is to be interviewed together with your wife, as I believe group visa interviews are still suspended.

Also, accompanying your wife to her interview doesn’t necessarily offer any advantage.

In her last denial, the visa officer noted that the marriage was still very recent and mentioned she could reapply after the marriage is at least six months old. If your marriage has now reached or passed the six-month mark, she can go ahead and reapply. Since this comment most have been documented in her previous denial, she can reference it strategically in her new application—without sounding like she’s quoting the officer directly.

Ultimately, she needs to be very strategic in both her preparations and her responses during the interview.

I applied F2 visa for my wife, and she was refused a visa based on how long the marriage has been. We got married on the 28th of Aug, 2024, and she applied and had her interview yesterday. The VO told her that the marriage is still young and maybe could apply after 6 months. We plan to apply again in December, but we'll be going together this time because I plan to renew my visa.

Who has experience with the VO F2 visa application and can advise on what to do? Do you think it's right for us to go together this December for the interview? Will it affect my renewal process since I am still a student here in the US?

If you talk too much on that aspect you will rope yourself and the interviewing officer might use it to deny you again. Therefore, you cannot utilise it to your advantages. Do you want to say that the officer who denied you was foolish ? Or you were denied as a result of the biased officer ?

I will just say : I was denied under 214b which was best known to the officer. I respect his/her decision and I am re-applying again with honesty and improved circumstances. Ciao

Presenting a bank statement that is not in your name or that of your parents could significantly reduce your chances or make it harder to convince the visa officer of your relationship with the sponsor and their willingness to support you.

I have this crazy feeling that I should get this 2nd paper published first (and make sure to use it as an opportunity to connect with my long time never-talked-to professor (s) in hoot to get their recommendation letters) before applying, but man, this paper is really taking my time. I am worried that my time might pass me by. Am I wasting my time considering my age and every other thing?

Do I really stand a good chance if I apply to a US school?

So I tried sending a message to support asking them to make the correction for me since I can't do it myself. But they were asking for my confirmation page of the new DS-160 form which I don't have yet because I was not ready to submit the DS-160 form yet. So now the issue is that I have already book an appointment date.

I have a deficit of 2748 dollars, my health insurance and general fee was partially covered. But my tuition, non residence fee, some other fees was completely covered alongside a $13,400 stipend too.

I’m currently filling out my I-20 paperwork and there’s a part that says “Does this amount cover the total financial support necessary for your first year of study as outlined above?”
When I say “No” I’m asked to provide a bank statement. At the same time I can’t say yes because I have partial general fee and health insurance

My uncle was supposed to let me use his bank statement for his deficit but he said he can’t be of help anymore.

Someone advised me to be self funded. I should put about $5,000 in my savings account and send over my bank statement for my I-20. Please would you guys advise me to do that? Because I know when filling a de -160 form I would be asked about my salary which I would say is 150-200,
So how is it possible I have 5000 dollars in my account. Also I can look for a way to get the money by next week. It would reflect on my bank statement that I just put the money. Would it not be sketchy. ?

It depends on the specific requirement of the school regarding pof. For the embassy, don't stress yourself about pof.. they don't really ask /check again. How much is your coa/deficit?
