mizzyoma: All these people that will shout IPOB in another news will not hail Ndi igbo now Mechionu ngi. You guys celebrate mediocrity, there is no big deal in graduating at age 18, in a sch in us.it could have been a feat in Nigeria, but us where there is no strike and a session is not one and half years due to ASUU strike. |

Teacher1776: guy, he is definitely not wasting 6 years in secondary school. Maximum, 4 years. I ain't bragging. I am a teacher and I know my boy knows things that some ss3 students don't know. I responded thus earlier on because you sounded as if it was strange that 18 years is already studying for her PhD Good for your boy, but I can assure he does not know all of what ss3 boys know. You can imagine a precocious ss3 student that did not skip class. That is not even material, what I am saying, it is really not a big deal for an 18 years old to have scholarship to phd particularly when we have a 19 years old with a PhD. For what ever it us worth there is no basis rushing your kid let them enjoy their childhood. I have a precocious child at age four that can read any thing but he is not rushing any thing he will enjoy his childhood like I enjoyed mine. |

Teacher1776: have you heard about skipping classes or double promotion? A child could spend just 3 years in primary and 3 years in secondary school. It is called intelligence. My 9 years old child is starting JSS1 this September. In 4 years time when he leaves secondary school and enters higher institution at 13, don't come here and shout "ojoro". Guys calm yourself, first she only has a scholarship to cover her masters and PhD not that she bags a PhD at age 18. It is a good one but not a feat unheard of. The youngest PhD holder in Nigeria is 19 years old. So don't fall apart on me. Secondly, your child that is 9 Years old will finish secondary sch at age 15 not 13. Simple arithmetic , don't count your chicks before the eggs are hatched.we pray Jamb and waec do not jam her. Getting a scholarship up to PhD is not bagging a PhD, the op is being disgenious with the bag thingi. |

FemiMaduka: The problem with the Op is crass ignorance about how the automobile industry works. It is a norm in the automobile world to have an automobile company enter into agreement with another company for the use of its proven design template. IVM has an agreement with the Chinese GONOW to use their proven templates to manufacture IVM vehicles. This method affords IVM the luxury of doing away with the uncertainty and risk associated with an unproven design (these same risks capable of running down a fledgling auto company). That is why when Toyota came with the HIACE ('hummer bus') design, almost every automaker bought into the revolutionary design and had their own version made (Nissan, GAC, Hyger, IVM et'al) with the exception of big rivals like VW, MB and Peugeot which might have an understandable reason to keep off. In today's autoworld, you can even have a Mitsubishi outsource its engine to a Ford (vice versa). Have you ever wondered why Peugeot cars and Citroen cars look almost identical? well, they share design-moulds. It is an auto norm! In case you don't know, an American rocket was once outfitted with a Russian engine (yes, inspite of the ideological difference). China built its aerospace industry by copying Russian designs. the Chinese J 11 multirole aircraft is a direct copy of the Russian Sukhoi 27. Does anybody think the Malians (or so) are fools for ordering 400+ vehicles from IVM? It is loathsome to even think of the fact that the Op is a Nigerian...people with mentality like yours are the reason why we are this backward. So just use the right word then, ivm assembled car parts like jac. So don't use manufacture.Let call spade a spade, facts are coming out and lies are being bursted. |

Dollyak: There is a mature and balanced response as displayed by okuntanla (though I still disagree on the premise behind the continuance of this thread)and then there is yours. Ignoring my post history for a second, I love how you could confidently conclude my contributions toward Yoruba land.
Btw, I applauds all the achievers on this thread. Nevertheless, you can't wish away the hard truth. That is always the state of mind of a product of a yoruba father and Igbo mother, always trying to pitch with the mother. No one has issues with your mom, just her mealy mouthed empty headed kinsmen. Yoruba despite the dysfunctional system have demonstrated they are not only a force to be reckon with in Africa, but a gale that will sweep off all confused lots who rather use there left hands to describe their fathers'houses. |
