Israeli intelligence tried unsuccessfully to kill Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein in the 1970s using a bomb disguised as a book. This revelation is included in a new documentary film, which was aired on Monday evening on Israel’s Channel 1 television. The documentary, entitled Sealed Lips, focuses on the life and intelligence exploits of Yitzhak Hofi. Known informally as “Khaka”, Hofi was the fifth Director of the Mossad, Israel’s foremost covert-action intelligence agency, which he led form 1974 to 1982. Aside from Hofi, who is still living in Israel, aged 85, the film includes interviews with five other former Directors of the Mossad, as well as with some of the agency’s best-known covert-action operatives. One of them is Brigadier General (ret.) Tzuri Sagi, said to have been the mastermind behind the plan to kill Hussein, who had assumed power in Iraq following a coup in 1968. According to the documentary, as soon as the Mossad tasked Sagi with assassinating Hussein, he employed the best-known bomb-maker in the Israeli intelligence and security services, known by his operational name, “Natan”. “Natan” put together a carefully constructed explosive device, which was hidden inside an Arabic-language book. The device was wired to detonate once the front cover of the book was opened. The film suggests that the Mossad did manage to find a way for the book to reach the Iraqi leader. However, Hussein appeared suspicious about the book and had one of his close aides, an unnamed senior Iraqi government official, open it. As soon as the cover was opened, the device exploded, killing instantly the Iraqi official, but leaving Hussein physically unharmed, though certainly shocked. Later on in the documentary, Sagi reveals that he was also in charge of an elaborate Mossad program to train Iranian special forces in guerrilla warfare, in the hope that these skills would be employed by the Iranians during their eight-year war against Iraq in the 1980s. The Iranians then used the methods taught to them by the Mossad to train Kurdish peshmerga fighting Iraqi government forces on the mountains of northern Iraq. Yet another revelation aired in the film is that the bomb-maker, “Natan”, was also responsible for putting together a sophisticated letter-bomb sent by the Mossad to Alois Brunner, a German former SS official who had assisted Adolf Eichmann transport millions of Jews to Nazi concentration camps throughout Europe during World War II. Brunner, who was living in Syria, received the bomb, but apparently survived the blast, which killed two Syrian postal employees. Brunner is said to have died in Syrian capital Damascus in 1996 of natural causes.

Predictably, the Western arranged confab in Doha, Qatar has seen the selection and approval by the US and its allies of a “new opposition coalition” to serve as the face of militants fighting inside Syria.

This was in response to overwhelming international condemnation to what has become an open proxy war fought against Syria by Western interests and its regional allies.

It is a repeat of the now catastrophically failed NATO intervention in Libya that has left the nation mired in genocidal sectarian and tribal violence, a weak, ineffectual client-regime, and human rights abuses dwarfing in reality, the now confirmed fabrications used by NATO ahead of military operations early in 2011.

The author of the blog aangirfan writes: “In Uganda, Joseph Kony is the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army, ‘which is a US and Mossad-backed guerilla force.’” He quotes Richard Cottrell, a former European MP, journalist, and author of the book, “Gladio: NATO’s Dagger At The Heart of Europe,” who wrote in an article in October 2011 called, “African ping pong: US plays both sides in Uganda”:

This is a direct continuation of the CIA/MI6/Belgian/Mossad promotion of the Katanga breakaway state back in the 1960′s. The western powers encouraged their local stooge Moise Tschombe to pull out of the freshly independent ex-Belgian Congo.

One of the CIA agents who was involved in the illegal assassination of the Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba was Frank Carlucci, who was the Secretary of Defense in the Reagan administration in the late 1980s. After leaving office, he became the chairman of the infamous Carlyle Group from 1992 to 2003, a company that is linked to the Bush and Bin Laden families, as well as other nasty people.

These people are not only raping and murdering Africa, but they’re raping and murdering America and pretty much the whole planet. They don’t have human empathy, they are motivated by greed and want to take total control over the populations and resources of Earth.

The satanic international banksters who control the CIA, MI6, Mossad, and other Western intelligence agencies are raping, killing, and looting in Afghanistan, Uganda, Iraq, Libya, America, etc. etc. etc.

The Kony 2012 campaign is a well-funded propaganda facade to lure good-hearted Americans into backing another illegal U.S./UN intervention in a part of the world that has been raped by cynical conquerors since the dawn of time.

This campaign is not about saving the children of Uganda from a heartless and brutal monster, but about stripping the resources of Uganda and giving them to the biggest heartless and brutal monsters on the planet, who own the CIA, MI6, Mossad, and the entire Western intelligence-security machine.

Though not yet announced by the Saudi authorities, the death of Prince Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has been confirmed to Voltaire Network by unofficial souces.

Prince Bandar had just been appointed head of Saudi intelligence on July 24: a promotion which was interpreted as a reward for having organized the attack in Damascus on July 18. The Saudi services, with logistical support from the CIA, had managed to blow up the headquarters of the Syrian National Security during a Crisis Cell meeting: Generals Assef Chaoukat, Daoud Rajha and Hassan Tourkmani were killed instantly. Generals Amin Charabeh and Hicham Ikhtiar died soon after from their wounds. This operation, called "Damascus Volcano" was the signal for the attack on the capital by a swarm of mercenaries, mainly coming from Jordan.

Prince Bandar was himself the target of a bomb attack on July 26, and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

A brilliant and cynical personality, Prince Bandar was 63 years old. He was the son of Prince Sultan (irremovable defense minister from 1963 until his death in 2011) and of a slave. Confidant of King Fahd, Bandar was ambassador to Washington throughout his reign (1983-2005). He became close to George H. Bush (then Vice-President of the United States), who regarded him as an "adopted son," prompting the U.S. press to dub him "Bandar Bush". Endowed with an outstanding genius for covert action, he brokered the Al-Yamamah arms deal, managing to divert more than one billion pounds, according to British official sources. He then used this windfall, and many more, to finance the activities of jihadist groups around the world, including Al Qaeda.

In early 2010, Prince Bandar attempted to overthrow King Abdullah to place his own father on the throne. The plot failed and he was banished from the kingdom, but the monarch’s declining health enabled him to return to Saudi Arabia a year later. Since the death of Prince Sultan in October 2011, he had become the de facto leader of the Sudairi clan, the hawkish wing within the royal family.

His death constitutes a serious blow to the whole system of Western covert action in the Muslim world. It took Syria only one week to mount this spectacular reprisal operation.

THE device in your purse or jeans that you think is a cellphone — guess again. It is a tracking device that happens to make calls. Let’s stop calling them phones. They are trackers.

Most doubts about the principal function of these devices were erased when it was recently disclosed that cellphone carriers responded 1.3 million times last year to law enforcement requests for call data. That’s not even a complete count, because T-Mobile, one of the largest carriers, refused to reveal its numbers. It appears that millions of cellphone users have been swept up in government surveillance of their calls and where they made them from. Many police agencies don’t obtain search warrants when requesting location data from carriers.

Thanks to the explosion of GPS technology and smartphone apps, these devices are also taking note of what we buy, where and when we buy it, how much money we have in the bank, whom we text and e-mail, what Web sites we visit, how and where we travel, what time we go to sleep and wake up — and more. Much of that data is shared with companies that use it to offer us services they think we want.

We have all heard about the wonders of frictionless sharing, whereby social networks automatically let our friends know what we are reading or listening to, but what we hear less about is frictionless surveillance. Though we invite some tracking — think of our mapping requests as we try to find a restaurant in a strange part of town — much of it is done without our awareness.

“Every year, private companies spend millions of dollars developing new services that track, store and share the words, movements and even the thoughts of their customers,” writes Paul Ohm, a law professor at the University of Colorado. “These invasive services have proved irresistible to consumers, and millions now own sophisticated tracking devices (smartphones) studded with sensors and always connected to the Internet.”

Mr. Ohm labels them tracking devices. So does Jacob Appelbaum, a developer and spokesman for the Tor project, which allows users to browse the Web anonymously. Scholars have called them minicomputers and robots. Everyone is struggling to find the right tag, because “cellphone” and “smartphone” are inadequate. This is not a semantic game. Names matter, quite a bit. In politics and advertising, framing is regarded as essential because what you call something influences what you think about it. That’s why there are battles over the tags “Obamacare” and “death panels.”

In just the past few years, cellphone companies have honed their geographic technology, which has become almost pinpoint. The surveillance and privacy implications are quite simple. If someone knows exactly where you are, they probably know what you are doing. Cellular systems constantly check and record the location of all phones on their networks — and this data is particularly treasured by police departments and online advertisers. Cell companies typically retain your geographic information for a year or longer, according to data gathered by the Justice Department.

What’s the harm? The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, ruling about the use of tracking devices by the police, noted that GPS data can reveal whether a person “is a weekly church goer, a heavy drinker, a regular at the gym, an unfaithful husband, an outpatient receiving medical treatment, an associate of particular individuals or political groups — and not just one such fact about a person, but all such facts.” Even the most gregarious of sharers might not reveal all that on Facebook.

There is an even more fascinating and diabolical element to what can be done with location information. New research suggests that by cross-referencing your geographical data with that of your friends, it’s possible to predict your future whereabouts with a much higher degree of accuracy.

This is what’s known as predictive modeling, and it requires nothing more than your cellphone data.

If we are naïve to think of them as phones, what should we call them? Eben Moglen, a law professor at Columbia University, argues that they are robots for which we — the proud owners — are merely the hands and feet. “They see everything, they’re aware of our position, our relationship to other human beings and other robots, they mediate an information stream around us,” he has said. Over time, we’ve used these devices less for their original purpose. A recent survey by O2, a British cell carrier, showed that making calls is the fifth-most-popular activity for smartphones; more popular uses are Web browsing, checking social networks, playing games and listening to music. Smartphones are taking over the functions that laptops, cameras, credit cards and watches once performed for us.

If you want to avoid some surveillance, the best option is to use cash for prepaid cellphones that do not require identification. The phones transmit location information to the cell carrier and keep track of the numbers you call, but they are not connected to you by name. Destroy the phone or just drop it into a trash bin, and its data cannot be tied to you. These cellphones, known as burners, are the threads that connect privacy activists, Burmese dissidents and coke dealers.

Prepaids are a hassle, though. What can the rest of us do? Leaving your smartphone at home will help, but then what’s the point of having it? Turning it off when you’re not using it will also help, because it will cease pinging your location to the cell company, but are you really going to do that? Shutting it down does not even guarantee it’s off — malware can keep it on without your realizing it. The only way to be sure is to take out the battery. Guess what? If you have an iPhone, you will need a tiny screwdriver to remove the back cover. Doing that will void your warranty.

Matt Blaze, a professor of computer and information science at the University of Pennsylvania, has written extensively about these issues and believes we are confronted with two choices: “Don’t have a cellphone or just accept that you’re living in the Panopticon.”

There is another option. People could call them trackers. It’s a neutral term, because it covers positive activities — monitoring appointments, bank balances, friends — and problematic ones, like the government and advertisers watching us.

We can love or hate these devices — or love and hate them — but it would make sense to call them what they are so we can fully understand what they do.

The question of Syria's problems resulting in a nuclear holocaust is real, not imagined. According to the NATO treaty the treaty states that an attack on a NATO member is regarded as an attack on all NATO members.

"By joining NATO you receive the protection of The Alliance in exchange for your willing defense in times of need. An attack against one NATO member is an attack against all of NATO".
This situation is what the Brits would say "A bit of a sticky wicket". Indeed it is. The scenario of Turkey being attacked by Syria is a real possibility. Even if Syria doesn't attack Turkey, and Turkey attacks Syria, do nations ever advertise the fact that they fired the first shot? This would be ridiculous when you consider that they would lose the protection that being a member State of NATO provides.

The Russians have a naval base in Tartus:

The site, at the port of Tartus, is little more than a pier, fuel tanks and some barracks. But it is the last Russian military base outside the former Soviet Union, and its only Mediterranean fueling spot, sparing Russia's warships the trip back to their Black Sea bases through straits in Turkey, a NATO member. This small naval base could be a real problem for NATO. A stray shot into the base, or over-zealous Syrian nationalists attacking the base could be the pre-cursor to World War III.

The question that most American citizens are asking is this, is Syria so much of a national security matter that we would commit to a nuclear holocaust? Is the civil strife in Syria so important that we would commit to destroying the world?
Let's get serious. Maybe some conspiracy scenarios are really playing out here. Alex Jones and others have warned us over and over that the "New World Order" is hell-bent on reducing the World's population. That is a scary scenario indeed. Still, when you see the behavior of Hillary Clinton and her war of words on Russia and China, it makes people like me wonder if Alex Jones and former Governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura could be on to something. Maybe they are right.
Maybe this is all ridiculousness. Maybe all of this is the result of an overactive imagination. Still, I don't think so. I'm building a bomb shelter. My wife doesn't think this is ridiculous. I'm trying to tell everyone that reads my articles, and maybe some that don't as a result of passing this around, something is going on here.

The threats made by Clinton against Russia and China don't bode well for peace on this planet. Strutting around the Middle-East pointing fingers at representatives of other nations is not diplomacy. In fact, nothing Clinton does smacks of diplomacy.

Speaking only for myself, Clinton needs to go. Syria is not an American problem, it's a Syrian problem and most Americans, in my opinion, don't give a sh*t about Syria. Let that nation work out its own problems without interference by other nations. This country needs to mind its own business. Syria is none of our business.

Wee turn a blind eye as Bahrain suffers under a monarchy that arrests and tortures people. This is a fact, not speculation. I have a contact that lived in Bahrain and saw the suffering with his own eyes. When I invited Finian Cunningham to come on my radio program, he talked about the atrocities he saw in Bahrain. The next day he was ordered out of the country. This is our so-called ally. This is a nation that arrests doctors and medics for treating demonstrators that have been injured by Saudi Arabian soldiers on the soil of Bahrain to quell the democracy movement and to prop up the monarchy.

This is utter nonsense. We accept Bahrain's ruthless crackdown on the democracy movement, but scream bloody murder when Syria's government tries to restore law and order. The west is supplying weapons and material to the "rebel's" in Syria, some of them members of Al Qaeda. Most of what we see on the corporate media is pure propaganda. Every time someone dies in Syria, the corporate media screams that is was the government that did it. Most of the time, when the smoke clears, and the fog of war lifts, we find out that it was the rebels that did the killing.
With all of the confusion that surrounds the events in Syria, the corporate media pretends that it knows the score there, but they don't. This is why China and Russia don't want NATO to invade a country that they trade with. They have friendly relations with Syria. If its proved that Al-Assad is killing his own people, I'm sure that Russia and China will not block a vote to intercede. There is no reason that the US should run willy-nilly and invade another country.

Right now, Iraq has an ally in the middle-East, Iran. It seems like the invasion that killed or injured over a million Iraqi's led to a state allied with Iran. That's the success story of the American diplomats. It's time someone said something. I'm saying something and I believe that all Americans should say something. We don't want another. That all there is to it.
