Computers / NEW! Wireless Charging Laptop by gomushtech: 4:12pm On Feb 01, 2017
Dell's new device was unveiled at CES 2017, and it's a wow hybrid device...it can work either as a PC or as a tablet.

The Dell Latitude 7285 gives you the edge of charging wirelessly without hassle !!
All you have to do is to place the laptop on the charging base....and it'll charge up #shikena!

Though the base will be sold separately, I personally think the innovation is cool and, like they said, they should include this feature in future Dell models, hybrid or not.

No price tag on this one yet, and it's not out for sales sha. But we look forward to having this premium piece on our tables....together with the charging mat!!

Cheers!!
Phones / Re: Lg Records $244 Million Loss, while Sales Of G5 Plummet by gomushtech: 4:11pm On Feb 01, 2017
greenhulk:
When I told people modular design was a bit and miss they didn't believe me. LG needs to go back to the drawing board. They release phones with flagship specs and great camera but they should try reduce the price. There are too many $400 phones with flagship specs put there, they should make their phones cheaper and stop looking at Samsung or apple.

Phones / Samsung Galaxy S8 New Leak (Picture) by gomushtech: 11:36am On Jan 28, 2017
The rumours of the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 as well as the leaks of the upcoming device are now quite constant. Though we have seen the specifications and pictures of the Galaxy S8, the latest leak features the price, launch date and the release date.

Twitter user, Ricciolo claims that the Galaxy S8 will be present at the MWC 2017, but will not be showcased to the general public. The Twitter user also hinted at the release date and the price of the S8 and S8 Plus. He tweeted that a ‘little birdy’ informed him that the device will not be rolled out for consumers until March 29, and the pricing will start from EUR 849. The larger variant, the S8 Plus will start at a price of EUR 949 which is roughly N300,000 and N350,000.

We expect that Samsung will try to redeem their image in the Phone industry after the disasterous tantrums the Galaxy Note 7 pulled by introducing big changes to the S8. The Galaxy S8, being a flagship device should sweep tech afficianados off their feet.
Samsung are rumored to be considering discarding, or reduce significantly the bezels on the S8. We also learned that the screen-to-body ratio could be about 90%, maybe by ditching the home button in some renders since the rumours.

We so look forward to the release of the S8.

Phones / Snapchat Overtakes Twitter In Daily App Usage by gomushtech: 11:34am On Jan 27, 2017
Since its introduction roughly 4 years ago, Snapchat has been a hit amongst internet and social media users; a platform which combines both sharing of pictures and videos, video calls and messaging and so much more updates and new innovative ideas has overtaken Twitter in what it took to achieve in 10 years.

According to report from Bloomberg, Snapchat has a whooping 150 million users daily beating Twitter by about a couple of millions...a large milestone for a 4 year old company.

Twitter has about 310 million monthly active users, according to its most recent earnings report. The company doesn’t disclose how many of those people check in daily, but in the third quarter, it said about 44 percent of monthly users are active each day in the service’s top 20 markets. Twitter Chief Financial Officer Anthony Noto said at the time that the percentage had been stable but that “we’ll be sure to disclose” if there wasa significant change. The company hasn’t given an update since then. This implies a daily active user count of 136 million. Twitter and Snapchat declined to comment.

Messaging on Snapchat is “very modern,” Twitter Chief Executive Officer Jack Dorsey said on Wednesday at Recode’s technology conference. He acknowledged that Twitter at times can be confusing and alienating—something he’s trying to fix.
Phones / Lg Records $244 Million Loss, while Sales Of G5 Plummet by gomushtech: 10:55pm On Jan 26, 2017
Samsung just recorded its best quarter of business for three years, but the same can’t be said of fellow Korean electronics firm LG. LG just carded a KRW 258.80 billion ($223.98 million) net loss for Q4 2016 on account of another poor performance from its mobile division, which saw revenue drop by nearly one-quarter over the past year.

LG recorded positive revenues of KRW 14.78 trillion ($12.79 billion) for the period, up 11.7 percent on the previous quarter and 1.5 percent year-on-year, but the Q4 2016 loss is a step back from the 348.9 billion won profit that it recorded in Q4 2015.

The company primarily blamed its mobile business, along with its auto components unit, for dragging its figures down. LG Mobile Communications — the segment that manages its smartphone business — pulled in KRW 2.90 trillion ($2.51 billion) in revenue in the fourth quarter of 2016, a 15 percent increase on the previous quarter but a 23 percent drop year-on-year.

The company went with a bold modular approach for its flagship smartphone in 2016, the G5, and it bombed.

“Profitability was hampered by weak sales of the G5 smartphone and higher marketing investments,” LG said in a statement.

Interestingly, it looks like the company didn’t announce how many smartphones it sold in 2016 — it previously sold 59.1 million in 2014 and 59.7 million in 2015. (Xiaomi, similarly, didn’t reveal its sales figures for 2016.)

LG did add, however, that it had seen “strong sales” of its V20 device, which was launched in October and features dual cameras.

Poor sales dragged the company’s financial reports down in Q2 and Q3, so it’s hardly a surprise to see that its upcoming replacement — the G6 — is abandoning that approach in favor of more mainstream effort. Judging from a leaked image of the device, gathered by The Verge this week, the G6 looks like being one to watch with its near-bezel-less design, unique 2:1 aspect ratio and other stylings.

The device is set to launch at Mobile World Congress, the mobile industry’s annual shindig in Barcelona, next month. Bonus for LG: Samsung won’t debut its Galaxy S8 at the show, so LG has a better shot at dominating the limelight and potentially reversing what has been a poor twelve months for its mobile business.

On the automotive side, LG is working with Chevy on its upcoming electric car. While that business saw revenue jump 64 percent year-on-year to reach KRW 865.7 billion ($749.2 million), the firm said that its investments in R&grin caused it to realize a KRW 14.5 billion ($12.5 million) loss in Q4. LG did say, though, that it expects its work with Chevy and that increased research investment will pay off in 2017 and beyond.

LG didn’t have a good 2016 but it expects to see “high-single digit” year-on-year revenue growth and “significant” quarter-on-growth increases in profit in 2017
