By Dayo Johnson, Akure Anxiety has gripped residents of Odigbo, in Odigbo council area of Ondo State, as three headless bodies were discovered floating in a river. Vanguard gathered that the decomposing bodies of the victims were discovered in a river along the Odigbo-Ore Old road. The gruesome discovery caused tension and anxiety in the council area of the state. An eyewitness who identified himself as Shileola, a youth leader in the community, suggested that the victims were brutally murdered and dumped in the river by suspected kidnappers. Shileola, who expressed shock over the incident, said that the exact cause of their death remains unknown. According to him, “I was shocked when I first heard about it over the phone. “I rushed to the scene, hoping to identify the victims through their clothing or any other means, but all efforts proved abortive,” he said. The eyewitness said that “the victims might have been killed elsewhere and their bodies dumped in the river, as no reports of missing persons have been recorded in the area so far. He, however, urged residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious in the wake of the incident. Contacted, the state police image maker, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirm the discovery of the headless bodies in the council area of the state. Ayanlade said, “I can confirm to you that three bodies were recovered at the river in Odigbo. And immediately it was reported at the Ore Division. “The DPO of that division moved a detective to the scene where the three bodies were recovered. However, the DPO, upon recovering the body, took the body to the morgue at General Hospital. He summoned the community leaders and all interest groups to ensure the identification of the body. Ayanlade said that nobody has been able to identify any of the bodies. It is believed that those bodies were brought there and dumped at that site by some unknown men. He added that “the area it happened bordered a lot of states, both Ogun and Edo States. So we believe the body is not from these states. However, it was dumped in that river. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/04/anxiety-grips-ondo-community-over-discovery-of-three-headless-bodies-in-river/

…Say Communities Face Severe Land Scarcity, Call Proposal Unfair and Provocative By Anayo Okoli ENUGU – The Association of Igbo Town Unions (ASITU) has strongly rejected the Federal Government’s plan to acquire land in Imo State and other South East states for the establishment of cattle ranches under the 2025 national budget. The union criticized the move as suspicious, provocative, and unjust, arguing that cattle ranching is a private business and should not be funded by the government. In a statement signed by its National President, Chief Emeka Diwe, ASITU raised concerns over the fairness and legality of the proposal, stating that it discriminates against Igbo traders who must acquire land for their businesses without government support. “Cattle rearing, as a private enterprise, should not be the responsibility of the Nigerian government to fund or manage. It is well established that livestock farming is a private business, and the cattle rearing segment of it is primarily controlled by a specific ethnic group in the country.” The union questioned why the federal government is prioritizing ranching for private cattle owners, while Igbo entrepreneurs in other parts of Nigeria struggle to navigate land acquisition without similar support. ASITU highlighted that states in the South East are already grappling with severe land scarcity, with increasing demands for agriculture, urban development, and infrastructure. Allocating more land for private ranching, particularly for an industry dominated by another ethnic group, is seen as a direct injustice to the people of the region. Our communities are under pressure to provide land for farming, housing, and development. Using our limited land for private ranches is unfair and unacceptable.” The group also accused the government of insensitivity in pushing forward such policies without considering their impact on the socio-economic well-being of the region. ASITU further argued that Igbo businessmen operating in other parts of Nigeria face significant hurdles in acquiring land and running their enterprises, often without government assistance. In some cases, land acquired by Igbo traders has been forcefully taken away by certain state governments. Igbo people doing business across Nigeria go through the rigorous process of acquiring land and establishing their ventures without federal intervention. Why should cattle ranchers get special treatment?” ASITU demanded an immediate halt to the federal government’s ranching initiative in the South East, warning that it could deepen ethnic tensions and marginalization. “This proposed ranching scheme rekindles concerns about the continued marginalization of the Igbo people in Nigeria. The government must stop prioritizing the business interests of one ethnic group at the expense of others.” The union called on the government to focus on policies that promote fairness, economic growth, and national unity, rather than implementing divisive programs that alienate indigenous communities. The South East deserves better. We will not accept any policy that seeks to take away our land for private interests under any circumstances.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/03/igbo-town-unions-reject-fgs-ranching-plans-in-south-east/

The Characteristics you mentioned for Anambra is same for majority of the South East,I am from Anambra and I schooled in Owerri, noticed it’s all the same thing In Anambra, drivers stop anyhow, someone can drop at this gate and the next person will drop at the next gate, not far from each other “Ka opuo” In Anambra, you can’t “Lap” like they do in Lagos where a grown man can lap another man except the person you are lapping is a little child And except it’s a rush hour, people don’t run to enter bus,the bus will wait for you |
