Personally I agree more must be done. I am just not sure insecurity can "end'. Fighting insecurity, majorly driven by Fulanis, is complex because of so much much overt and covert backing these killers get from very powerful Northerners who are political, business, cultural and religious leaders.

Those Northern leaders actually play a big role recruiting young, illiterate and restive Northerners into terrorist and bandit groups.

They must be stoped but the reality is much harder because the sort of very big men involved, and their large numbers, means a Southern President cannot take all those folks down without serious repercussion for Nigeria.

Still, Tinubu now has better leverage to act, because of being called out by Trump, and seek formal engagement with USA and the EU to prosecute a more robust battle against insecurity.

I think that will happen 100% and Tinubu should focus on lobbying the US, EU, Saudi Arabia etal to impose sanctions, travel bans and serious restrictions on the business interest of these sponsors of terror as a good start to fighting terrorism and banditry.

The insecurity the North has brought to Nigeria is so complex, I feel it's cause and sponsored proliferation is beyond the grasp of most ordinary Nigerian who simply do not appreciate how deeply entrenched it is and the stupendous number of "pillar" of Nigerian society involved in it.

If I am to speak candidly, even as I know things can improve with more effort, I will still conclude the North is hopelessly fcked. Meaning the rest of us should just focus on agitating uncompromisingly for regional autonomy so that we can protect ourselves.

I see that as the options for a problem that now involves the complicity of many, many millions of Northerners and is becoming a culture for them.

Insecurity would not be so bad in the North if it is something many, from leaders to followers, are vehemently against.

Terrorism and banditry, for example, can never be a mainstay in the SW because they are not what the leaders and followers of the region, both religiously tolerant and with fair degree of respect for the sanction of human life, will ever subscribe to.

If Southerners reflects on issues they will see the redundancy in insulting Tinubu alone over this complex issue Northerners brought upon themselves and are the only ones capable of ending.


[Outsiders cannot liberate Northerners happy to be enslaved by terror and banditry under their fellow Northerners. Even the whole culture of toxic and radicalising clerics in every corner of the North, that Northern Governors should clamp down on mercilessly, is a problem.
