Peter Obi on Erosion control😂.

Peter Obi even went straight to World Bank and invited their personnel just to get solution for the challenges of Erosion in Anambra straight.

World Bank team visits erosion sites in Anambra

AWKA — A TEAM from the World Bank is in Anambra State to assess the damage done by gully erosion in the state, with the leader of the delegation, Dr. Amos Abu, acknowledging that the state government’s intervention at the Umuchiana Ekwulobia erosion site saved many communities in the area from disaster.

According to Abu, the state government’s intervention at many erosion sites in the state, as well as Governor Peter Obi’s continued pressure on the World Bank to assist is a clear demonstration of his concern towards the suffering of the people affected by the devastation.

He was elated that the successful control of the menace at some of the sites had stopped further encroachment and restored areas hitherto devastated, but insisted that collective efforts were required to consolidate on the achievements recorded.

Though he did not disclose the level of assistance to expect from the World Bank, Abu said the bank had the experience, knowledge, skill and financial muscle to effectively reverse the devastation,

At the Isiakpuenu Nanka erosion site which the team also visited, Abu said an engineering approach would not be enough to tackle the huge devastation, suggesting that the site required integrated strategy that would include watershed management with total involvement of the various communities, state and federal governments, as well as the World Bank.

Governor Obi, who accompanied the team on the tour of the sites, said his continuous visits to various erosion sites and persistent appeals to Federal Government and development agencies were aimed at attracting world attention to provide a lasting solution to the menace.

The governor, who recalled that his administration spent several millions of Naira on the Umuchiana site, said the World Bank has the potentials to assist, adding that he was happy at the visit because it would surely yield good dividends.

The Traditional ruler of Ekwulobia, Igwe Emmanuel Onyeneke who lamented that the community has lost many households and farmland to the devastation, commended Governor Obi for taking practical and consistent steps to control the ravages of the scourge and save the community since the menace developed over 20 years ago.

PHCN lauds Obi over improved power supply in AnambraPublished on November 11, 2013By Joe Chukindi

The Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, Onitsha Works Centre has attributed the new lease of life enjoyed by Anambra people in power supply to the intervention of Anambra State Governor Mr. Peter Obi.

This followed Obi’s request to the presidency for additional power transmission capacity.

The Assistant General Manager of PHCN IN Onitsha, Engr T.U.J. Emuchay who made this commendation in a letter to the Governor said the people of the state, especially Awka capital city residents were excited at the development following the commissioning of the 40MVA, 132/33KV Mobile Transformer Sub-Station at Agulu Awka.

Emuchay who described the feat as a testimony of the commitment of Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, to lift the state’s economy, said Governor Obi’s request which was in tandem with the TCN Grid Improvement Master Plan, had received FG’s approval for the construction of 2x60MVA, 132/33KV Sub-Station at Ogidi/Ogbunike after previously failing to have it installed at GCM Onitsha.

“These projects, which the Anambra State government is championing, especially the GCM power project are critical”, Emuchay stated.

He, however, regretted that the execution of the projects had been stalled by difficulty in the acquisition and allocation of land owing to a communal dispute at Ogbunike/Ogidi land.

According to Emuchay, the GCM project was packaged to radiate 5N0 33KV out-going feeders to power INTAFACT, Golden Oil and other companies within the Harbour Industrial area.

Like I said befor. It seems Reno Omokri is now indirectly campaigning for Peter Obi. Because I don't know why he is saying things that are making People get to know the exploits of Peter Obi as governor of Anambra state.

First he started with Education, then moved to Erosion control, and now IPP.

For the Record, Peter Obi has no match as a governor in Nigeria.

Even if it takes extra 10 years, no governor can lace his shoes in governance.

Peter Obi as governor of Anambra state tackled Education, Security, Environment, Sports, Employment, Power and still saved money for the state.

We all know who owns the Nation Newspaper paper right?

Below is their report on how Peter Obi tackled Erosion control in Anambra state.

Imagine someone trolling a governor about Tsunami, that's exactly how Reno is trolling Obi over a natural disaster like Erosion.

Despite Erosion being a natural disaster, yet Obi tackled it.

Infact, it is on record that Obi was the only South Easter governor that tackled Erosion properly.

‘Obi instrumental to erosion control’

By The Nation on September 5, 2014

A former Minister of Environment, Mr. John Odey, has said former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi was instrumental to the creation of the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP).

Under the project, the World Bank will finance the control and management of erosion in some states.

The former minister recalled how Obi almost single-handedly pushed for the project, even when his colleagues were lukewarm.

Odey spoke yesterday in Abuja at the official launch of the project at the Transcorps Hilton.

He urged communities to key in into the project.

The World Bank Country Director Marie Francois Marie-Nelly said there was need to seriously tackle erosion in Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia, Edo and Cross River states.

She called for ownership and domestication of the project, especially in the affected states.

The World Bank chief hailed those implementing the project for their innovation, which emphasises reclamation and control.

Marie-Nelly said: “I have visited Edo and Anambra states. Under Peter Obi, I was pleased with his commitment, which he demonstrated by being the first to pay the state’s counterpart funds of N500 million for the project. Ebonyi, Cross River and Imo states have also paid theirs.”

Environment Minister Mrs Laurentia Mallam said erosion had caused havoc in several states and deprived the people of arable land.
