How I wish that Sowore was executed in prison cos Dele Giwa, Ken Saro Wiwa were not as wicked as Sowore yet they were executed.
Sahara reporters lost it a long time ago.

Nairaland GeneralDoctor Says Men Are Spending Thousands To Add Inches To Their Height by Gramps(op):
Many men are resorting to surgery in a desperate attempt to add inches and over the years, more than 30 men from around the world have turned to a limb-lengthening medical practice based in Las Vegas to add to their height despite the cost.

In the interview conducted by The Mirror, the procedure is estimated to cost upwards of £57,180 ( ₦27,574,197.30).

Despite this hefty cost, Dr. Kevin Debiparshad, a consultant at the clinic, explains that the procedure is getting more and more popular, especially among men.

In the words of Dr. Kevin as posted in The Mirror:

Over 90% of my patients, including those who have consulted with me, are male. Most on average are about 5’6” seeking a height increase of 3 inches. The desire to appear taller, particularly for men, has always been a hot topic in modern-day society and social norms. While that is certainly a driver in the popularity to increase their height, reasons for cosmetic limb-lengthening vary, ranging from a boost in self-confidence to improved physical capabilities, all of which change lives.

The surgery itself takes around 1.5 hours and involves cutting the leg bones and inserting a stretching device.

Explaining the procedure, the doctor said:

We cut the leg bones, either femur (upper leg bone) or tibia (lower leg bone), and insert a device that slowly stretches them out which makes you taller permanently. As far as the procedure goes, it’s an x-ray based surgery where I make 4-6 tiny small incisions into the leg (either thigh bone or lower leg bone) creating a window, to gain access to the hollow part of the bone, where I insert a device that responds to an external remote control that the patient will control at home. Once the device is set, I place screws at the top and bottom of the device to lock into position. This is done on each leg. Post-surgery, the external remote control is used by the patient to non-invasively increase their height by 1mm per day at the touch of a button, slowly stretching the legs to increase their height.

The surgery is painless, however, just like all surgeries, there are some risks involved and the doctor explained the risk. According to him:

Risk of infection or transfusion, similar to any other type of surgical procedure, and specific to this surgery, the bone may heal too quickly, not fast enough or you could experience muscle tightening. Additionally, you could lose some athletic ability to get to that end-stage. You can run and go to the gym, but you might not be able to sprint 100 meters in nine seconds with your newfound stature.

HealthMum Infects Her 17 Children With Coronavirus In US As She Didn't Show Symptoms by Gramps(op): 5:24pm On Apr 18, 2020
'IT WAS TERRIFYING' Coronavirus mom unknowingly infects SEVENTEEN of her 18 children with disease as she did not show any symptoms

When Jencik became seriously ill, her kids - some of whom are adopted - started to show symptoms.

She said the deadly virus was "like a freight train" hitting her family.

"It was terrifying," Jencik told WHAM. "I was a little ahead of them in the timing of it all."

"I was as afraid of my life as I had ever been, and not much scares me."

The mom-of-eighteen doesn't know how she contracted coronavirus.

"I was extremely concerned that I was never going to be the same," Jencik said of her battle with the disease that has infected millions and killed over 30,000 Americans.

The Jenciks are finally on the road to recovery after weeks of isolation and the busy mom asked her friend, Matt Moreno, the CEO of Purify Global, to sanitize her home.

Moreno brought in a team of 12 to scrub down her upstate abode for two hours, wearing hazmat suits for protection while Jencik's family waited outside.

"We put on commercial grade gas masks with a cartridge that's meant to withstand a nuclear attack," he said.

Jencik said it was necessary because she "needed to know from my mama heart that I was protecting the people I love to the best extent I possibly could."

CrimeMan Breaks Into Restaurant And Serves Himself For 4 Days Amid Lockdown by Gramps(op): 11:23am On Apr 18, 2020
A burglar has been arrested after he was found to have broken into a closed restaurant and helped himself to food and drinks for four days.

Louis Angel Ortiz, 42, was arrested early Tuesday after the police responded to reports of a burglary at Soul de Cuba Café, New Haven, Connecticut. The manager who said that the restaurant had been shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, found Ortiz sleeping inside the restaurant with a bottle of rum.

Police viewed the security video footage and concluded Ortiz broke into the restaurant on Saturday through a side window of the restaurant. He then helped himself over the course of four days to the restaurant’s food, liquor, and beer, in addition to which he also removed beverages and property from the building.

“Officers learned Ortiz helped himself over the course of four days to the restaurant’s food, liquor and beer,” police said in a statement Wednesday.

“In addition to eating and drinking at the restaurant, Ortiz removed beverages and property from the building,” officials added.

Ortiz was taken into custody after a manager stopped by the closed restaurant and saw someone sleeping inside with a bottle of rum, police said.

Officers arrested Ortiz, who was also caught on the restaurant’s surveillance video, nearby, police said.

The restaurant management estimated the loss of food and beverages at several thousand dollars, including an estimated 70 bottles of stolen or consumed liquor.

Ortiz was charged with burglary, larceny and criminal mischief in connection with the alleged incident. He was also charged with failure to appear in court on an unrelated case, police said.

Louis Angel Ortiz, who was arraigned Wednesday, is due back in court on May 27, the Courant reports. He remained in custody Friday at the New Haven Correctional Center in lieu of $10,500 bail, record show.

Nairaland GeneralCoronavirus Vaccine not expected to be available before next year-Bill Gates by Gramps(op): 3:08pm On Apr 06, 2020
Life can only fully return to normal once a vaccine to combat the new coronavirus is available globally , according to Microsoft co- founder and philanthropist Bill Gates.
A vaccine against the virus is not expected to be available before next year.
Work needed to be done quickly on the development of a new vaccine to enable a “ billions of doses capacity ” as quickly as possible, Gates said in an interview with the U . S. broadcaster Fox News on Sunday.
Developed nations, like the U.S will be able to combat the virus sooner or later, he said, but the virus needed to be defeated globally.
“Things will not get back to truly normal until we have a vaccine that has gotten out to basically, the entire world , ” Gates told Fox News.
On Thursday, Gates called on the U.S government to start constructing factories for the most promising vaccine developments in the fight against the virus .
That could lead to the loss of millions of dollars, as some vaccines would probably never be needed , Gates conceded on his blog, GatesNotes.
No private company could take on that risk, Gates said, but it would be the only way to ensure mass production of a vaccine.
“Because many of the top candidates are made using unique equipment, we'll have to build facilities for each of them, knowing that some won't get used," Gates said on his blog .
“Private companies can't take that kind of risk , but the federal government can ” he said.
The Gates Foundation, which mainly funds health programs , has already provided 105 million dollars to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
In a much- viewed TED talk in 2015, Gates said the world’s largest threat was a pandemic .
It came as U.S President Donald Trump said the country could see between 100,000 and 240,000 deaths from COVID - 19 before the pandemic is controlled .
