Prof. Dr Stefan Teofanov has converted to Islam after translating the Quran into the Bulgarian language. BulgWorld Bulletin / News Desk A Classical Arabic Studies lecturer has converted to Islam after studying and translating the Holy Quran to the Bulgarian language. Prof. Dr Svetan Teofanov, works in the Department of Classic Arabic Literature at the Sofia University, giving lectures in Koran and Quranic exegesis. He has until now several published books as well as publishing as a Quran interpretation. Prof. Teofanov has finished his specialisation doctorate at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies as well as second doctorate at the Moscow Oriental Studies Institute. As part of the specialisation work, Dr Teofanov said, "Many yeears ago, on the request of the state-owned publishing house, I began to translate the Holy Koran. This was the socialist period. Rather it being service to the Muslims, this was more concerned with assimilation policies in regards to Turkey. Shortly after the work began there was the democratic transition in 1989, the state publishing house went bankrupt, the Bulgarian translation of the Holy Quran was not published in that year. However, I continued to work on the translation of the Holy Koran and this is where my life changed. I began to better understand our exalted book and wanted it from my heart. " Converting to Islam opens doors Dr Teofanov who has continued to teach focusing on the Arabic language at the university has said that it has led to many doors opening for him. In point-related Teofanov told the following: "When I started working I was looking through the eyes as if it was an ordinary book. Over time time I began to understand the Qur'an and with a deeper meaning from texts. In college I read the Koran interpretation and meaning, but felt their sincerity, while I was completing the actual translation. My journey defying the Quran took too long but at the end of the road and I have accepted Islam and I am now a Muslim. " Researching, translating and publishing continuously, Teofanov also said that "At first I translated the pagan Arab poetry. I studied medieval Arabic literature. We also have a new book published, called "The Phenomenology of the Prophet". This book is based on the old bible. What a useless post! I wonder why some people can be so gullible. Members of a faction of the Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Comrade Tony Nwoye, yesterday visited the All Progressives Congress (APC) national headquarters in Abuja in their bid to join the ruling party. Nwoye, who was the governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2013 governorship election in Anambra State, disclosed that their resolve to defect to the APC has been endorsed by former Vice President Alex Ekwueme and other prominent leaders of the PDP in the state. “We are leaving the PDP on principle. What they are doing in PDP is not acceptable to us. We have taken time to read the APC manifesto and Constitution; what attracted us to the party is party discipline and internal democracy. “That was why we decided to consult widely and we met with all our leaders, all our financiers from Chief Arthur Eze to Emeka Offor, to Dr Alex Ekwueme who formed the party, and these our leaders agreed with us to move because we felt that we could not move without their blessing,” Nwoye said. He promised to work closely with APC chieftains in the state such as the minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, and APC national organising secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso, adding that they would work assiduously to ensure that Anambra State joins the league of APC states in the country. He also pleaded with the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led national executive committee to grace what he called “the mother of all rallies” before the end of the year where tens of hundreds of PDP supporters, alongside All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) members would join the APC. Responding, the national chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, expressed happiness over the decision of the PDP faithful to join the APC, adding that it would be in the interest of the nation if Nigerians from the South East align with President Muhammadu Buhari’s resolve to address the multi-faceted problems bedevilling the country. “You are most welcome. I want to emphasise one thing. We are glad you are coming but we are not attempting to build a one-party nation. So many years of indescribable bad governance! You are the engine room that makes things happen. We got to the brink and the people saw the light and voted massively for the APC,” he said. source: www.leadership.ng/news/475582/we-have-ekwuemes-blessing-to-join-apc-anambra-pdp-faction. |

Nigeria, why should a former governor still be occupying space in government house? Akpabio must definitely be punished for his illegal possession of cash and firearms. |
