Ibime: Did you watch the first leg?
Especially the 2nd half when Chelsea were overran and Courtois saved the day.
Diego Costa taking pot shots from the edge of the box does not equate to PSG scoring tapins and spurning several one on ones with the goalie and creating overloads all over pitch that led to clean chances.
Even yesterday, Di Maria was clean through. The only one on one shot Chelsea had yesterday was Hazards rebound when Willian had squeezed a shot through 4 men.
Meanwhile from 1st leg till now, PSG have been breaking through lines and seeing Courtois face to face. 2 tap ins yesterday, Several 1-on-1s in Paris and you are talking about chances?
At no stage was Chelsea in this tie. We have been well and truly beaten. Save the yarns. This has been a show of utter dominance, starting with overloading the midfield and creating overloads with runners that led to several tap in opportunities. the psg game was lost in the midfield and defence. Chelsea's midfield and defence left spaces for psg to exploit numerous times. Had psg's defence left the kind of space Chelsea left, we would have scored numerous goals. It has nothing to do with our attack. Current Chelsea attack can cause harm to any team if they are given assurance of the midfield and defence. Imagine psg scoring from tap ins. Forget o. Mourinho is a genuis, especially when it comes to organizing the defence. Mourinho's defence hardly leave spaces. We just need a hustling DM and good defenders if we are to maintain the style of football we have always been known for. Finally, mistakes are always made in a match. It is only highlighted when it was not corrected by the person that made it or his teammate and it leads to a goal. We seriously need a good back room staff. We should stop making foolish signings. Roman should also be patient and build a team with a manager. |

In all, Leicester city has taught me something in football ball. If you guys can recall, you will remember that this same Leicester team that almost relegated them last season are almost the same team that has kept them at the top this season. What am I saying? When there are bad performances, there is bound to be blames here and there. But, when there is good performances, no remembers the mistakes that were not punished in a match. It is true that there is suppose to be changes in some positions, but, I believe this team will do wonders come next season. This same guys we are castigating this season will show us why they have always been praised by us in the past. You guys should not join other clubs fans to insult our players, cus, they will still be the same people to quote the comments you made to you, in the future. Lastly, I can't stop supporting Chelsea, cus, they have made me proud in the past. I don't forget good things easily. At least i have a say among the elites. I pride to say that, there is no big team in Europe that I have not beaten before, when mattered. |

Azpi prolly already thought that is Mikels ball and started running forward only to find that snail couldn't reach the ball.
Anybody that put any iota of hope in Mikel as a midfielder in a team like Chelsea is stewpid. i am totally with you on this one. Mikel should have stretched to get that ball. I can't blame azpi cus he was already moving forward thinking that mikel has gotten the ball. |

dmcdad: Hazard is a better dribbler than Neymar? Of course! That's because his dribbles results to nothing. Do you know that JJ did more than Ronaldinho ever did? But which of them was more productive with his dribbles? Did I hear you say Ronaldinho? Of course it's Ronaldinho. That's the same case with Hazard and Neymar. Why do you think most EPL fans and even your so-called Chelsea fans term Hazard's dribbles as school-boy dribbles? It's obvious and I need not elucidate more on that. On that note, since we are talking about productivity, Neymar is better. No?
Neymar is a far better passer than Hazard. Hazard doesn't have the vision Neymar possess. Certain aspects of his game are limited due to the presence of Messi. Now this is a fact, nothing less. Messi is the leader of the team and Neymar is his vice. Messi possesses the freewill to play wherever he chooses, as long as he is on the field of play. Neymar's case is different because as long as Messi is on the pitch, his movements are limited. Everything he does becomes limited from dribbles, creating chances and the rest. But when Messi is not on the field of play, then you see the real beast in Neymar.
His chance creation is only limited because Messi is the leader of the team and hence has the ultimate right to create chances at will. You need to know the hierarchical model of Barça to know this. And for the records, you just made a gaffe with your assertion that even this season Hazard has created more chances than Neymar. That's very wrong! Bring up the stats please and mess yourself up. And in order to prove to you beyond every shadow of doubt that Neymar's chances creation is limited because of Messi's presence in the team, it's no news Messi missed 2 months out and that gave Neymar the edge to top the chart for most chances created in La Liga. That will prove to you that what I said about Neymar being limited whenever god-Messi is around is true.
Neymar is a better shooter than Hazard anyday of the week. Hazard will need to be reborn to be able to have Neymar's shooting prowess. And for an attacker, you need to know how and when to shoot, something Hazard needs to learn. Note that I didn't talk about scoring here but just shooting.
Neymar kills Hazard when it comes to taking set pieces. Infact, this is not even an argument. Neymar annihilate him when it comes to taking corners and freekicks. As for PKs, Neymar just started being inconsistent recently, although not like Hazard doesn't miss himself. As for direct freekicks, Hazard is sure afraid of even attempting.
Neymar shows in the biggest stages of games both in club-side football and in international footie. Infact, Neymar thrives in big games more than the average games. It's not a coincidence he had shown in games like the Confederation Cup final (against the then World Champions), the Copa Libatodorres final and even the Champions League final. Not to talk of other stages of the aforementioned tournaments. So, Neymar kills him hands-down.
Neymar draws far fouls more than Hazard. That in itself is a great quality and a great asset to your team. Agreed he dives formally, but even a blind man wouldn't say that anymore. But he has the moves and the trickery to draw fouls from opponents and at dangerous positions too. Hazard does same too, but not at Neymar's level.
Neymar is far far better in making combinational plays with his teammates. He sure knows how to make those quick one-twos that leaves his opponents gapping for air while he or his teammate evades them and thereby bring about a goalscoring opportunity.
As much as he is not very good with his head, he is still better than Hazard when it comes to aerial balls. Hazard doesn't even attempt to make aerial duels because he just can't.
So, I have been able to prove to you that Neymar is head and shoulders above Hazard even without taking goals and assists into consideration. And just imagine the prospect of bringing those in the argument, and one would just render Hazard to be Munir-like. But then, no need to bring on those. Without goals or assists Neymar kills him anyway.
But of course since you guys enjoy merry-go-round(ing), I know you will not rest. But let's see you try. how can you be this sentimental. This is the problem i with debating football on this forum, you guys are not always objective. Remember, i said we should exclude hazard's poor season and look at his qualities as a player that we already know. How can you say neymar draws more fouls than hazard. Mind you, I didn't say hazard has created more chances than neymar this season. What i meant was that hazard has been able to create good number of chances despite having a poor season. So it is neymar's dribbles that are meaningful? Is it the same neymar that is accused of attempting silly dribbles for show or another? Let us end this. It is either you are being sentimental or you don't know hazard very well. Even at that, you should know his stats in those aspect. |

dmcdad: Bruv, you need not look further than the glaring fact that their club is at its lowest ebb for years now, hence the frustration and misinterpretation of facts.
Na siddon look I dey. The same people crying foul about hypocrisy are the chief hypocrites themselves. When it comes to Lampard vs Zidane or Xavi, then stats doesn't count. But it when it involves Iniesta, then stats come into play. And no one should tell me about formations blah blah blah because at the end of the day, when your stats are put up, no one will include the formation you played in alongside the stats. If they put up Messi's stats, no one would include how he played in a 4-3-3 formation.
Imagine someone saying Hazard is a better passer than Neymar. I mean, how is that person still alive? Some people should just be shot! Hazard with his schoolboy-inspired dribbles a better dribbler than Neymar. Hazard is like JJ Okocha and Neymar like the great Ronaldinho in terms of dribbling. And of course everyone knows what it means. It's not about making dribbles with no vision or end products. The aim is to make a dribble with a view to either scoring or assisting a teammate in scoring.
There is nothing Hazard does that Neymar doesn't do better. Then Neymar has tons of goals and assists to spice things up. And if someone wants us to lay those (goals+assists) aside, then that's fine. We will have to bring in trophies won. Both personal and team trophies won. If we have to include international football to it then it gets worse for Hazard. Or do we have to highlight their big-game performances? Especially in finals?
Abeg which criteria remain sef? aside the fact that hazard has not been himself this season, we all should know the qualities of a player we argue about. There are qualities hazard have over neymar and vice versa. If you actually know and watch both players, you should know their qualities, keeping sentiments apart. Whoever does not know that hazard is a better dribbler to neymar, such person does not know the meaning of dribbling. Hazard keeps the possession better. When you pass to hazard, at least there is a 95 percent assurance that he will not lose possession. He also creates more chances than neymar; this is a fact. He has done that even in his worst season. |

Though, I still think it is due to not still being fully fit and not fully confident. But, it has made him not to influence games much. I still miss his runs. The runs that scare defenders when he comes at them. Defence splitting runs. |

Rodriguez is trash. Never trust a no10 whose only real moments of note come from long range shots. the James i know is a good passer of the ball, he detect the runs of his striker and gives them fine crosses and passes to finish. hensben: Fab and James in midfield will not go well for us. We need a workaholic like Vidal to pair up with fab and mikel/matic. I don't fancy pogba also, he is Oscar in black skin and always drift to the wing most times... if we can get a consistent player like kante that will play as a standing DM, there is no more to bother about in our midfield. Willian can even be made to come behind the striker and James will be moved to the flank. I will even suggest we get another striker to give us more option in case we want to play 433 formation. We need a striker that can be seriously involved in build up plays without conceding possession. A striker that can comfortably take on two defenders and score. Guys, we seriously need additions, but, no much offload. Just offload all other strikers except Costa. Offload mikel or Matic. Maybe offload iva or keep him for experience in the team, but never play him at right back. We need a good person in charge of our scouting and transfers. The person at Barcelona is doing well. The club buys what the need not name. |

nateevs: I remember very vividly (either 2008/09 or 09/10 season) when Didier Drogba was almost absolute tosh. He couldn't even control the ball without looking like a League 2 player. It was a new low in Didier's career.
Even fans live at SB used to curse at him. There was serious outcry to sell him. Even I was part of the party. While some stood faithfully with him (Notably FBS), others didn't.
As fate would have it, heavens knows what may have become of Chelsea had we sold him.
What's my point? I believe history should always teach us something. Like the importance of 'perseverance with genuine top players going through a dip in form'. And that sometimes, a deep in form is just that; certainly not to be confused with 'disinterest'. And that instead of a global cry to rid the club of such players, support them, hope they find form and hope that the peak of their careers is spent at the club.
No long story. Everybody gets the gist. the best post i have read in years |

Ibime: This is why I told ninjas not to include Hazard in Chelsea all-time 11. He hasnt done anything to merit that. 2 seasons ago, he lost the UCL semi for Chelsea against Atletico with 2 sloppy moments allowing Atletico to win the tie. Last season, he was the main reason we lost to PSG from an attacking sense. When PSG went down to 10 men, he started killing all our attacks with slow lazy football that drained the tempo out of all the attacks.
As for yesterdays match, I felt he played quite well first half. In the 2nd half, he had 2 lazy moments where he tried dribbling in our half and was dispossessed leading to 2 direct PSG attacks on our goal. That probably led his performance to seem worse than it was but I thought he did well in the first half.
At the end of the day, your level of disappointment in Hazard is based on what expectation you set for him. I have never considered him a great so I am not disappointed. I just feel he is a good player who have not been given the right support in terms of a solid midfield to dominate the game and put him on the front foot attacking wise. I would not throw him away because of this bad season. I would rather rebuild the team with the real movers and shakers down the spine of the team (CM, Striker), rather than expecting a bloody winger to carry the team. Wingers do not carry teams generally, they are an added value position. I agree with some part of your post, but, i have to disagree with you on some. That Chelsea was eliminated by both psg and atm can't be blamed on one player. Because a player's mistake led to a goal and the other player's mistake didn't lead to a goal does not make the former player a bad player. Moreover, a mistake make by a player in and advanced area can't be the only cause of a goal. It is just like saying that lukaku cost us the super cup when we know that winning bayern with a five goal lead will not take us to penalties. I think it is messi that lost the ball that caused Chelsea to score in 2012, does it mean that messi costed them the Champions League in 2012? End point is that you can't blame one player in attack for a goal in defense and you can't blame a player when there are other players. Like I have always posited, hazard's problem is psychological. He has the talent to do great things in football, but he has not pushed himself. He needs someone to train him to understand his potentials. It is just like the Ben Carson story. Like a student who is intelligent but does not know that studying harder will make him know more than his teacher. Einstein maybe was not the most intelligent person in his time, but, he achieved all that he did because he pushed himself to the limit. |

He did nothing, just to get the ball and pass something I can do if m on that pitch...... you better go and re-watch the match. So you didn't watch the part where hazard embarked on a run and passed the ball to willian who opted to run into two players than to make use of the free space on his left. You didn't watch the build up to our first attempt. Tell me you didn't watch what led to Ivanovic side net volley. You need to know that willian is our most inform player and it is normal for him to be receiving the most passes, yet he can't offer more than what hazard can offer if he is in form. I say, buy midfielders and a good left back to support hazard and you will see his best. Selling him will not do us any good. |

2-1 is not that bad but its risky. we have to win to nil or score 2 more than them. Its hard with PSG because the kind of strength in depth they have is crazy. Imagine, they called upon Cavani and Pastore off the bench. these are not just average joes, these are proven players with experience. something we lacked on the night.

Money can always get us that i think. what were you expecting hazard to do for you that he didn't do? Were you expecting him to make tackles?
