11 days after submitting my application. My biometrics was just the second day of my visa application submission.
mcsugk:
You mean within 11days after your biometrics or after submitting your visa application?
Please let us know..

Thank you so much for your response. It was really beneficial and my visa was approved.

While some Vos, based on how you present the application, may accept the scholarship as proof of funds, others may not be as lenient. Although these scholarships are available, they are sometimes accessible only when specific requirements are met. Temporary resident applications, such as study permits, are based on the discretion of the visa officer handling the application. Therefore, I recommend providing proof of funds (even if it is a lump sum) in your account ( you are not required to submit Dad’s account) and explaining the source. Suppose you don’t have additional funds to complete the required living expenses. In that case, I strongly advise you to request a support letter from the school, addressed to IRCC, stating that they guarantee the funds and that you are eligible for them. They should also know what the scholarship covers, how much will be provided per period, and when it will be disbursed.
Photos of the farm and cattle are insufficient for proof of income source. You should provide evidence of business registration, invoices/receipts and tax documents.
All the best.

Thank you so much for your response. I followed your advice and my visa got approved already. More interestingly, within the space of 11 days. I didn't show my sponsor's account. I submitted his farmland documents and only mention that he has cattles with pictures of the cattles attached. His appointment letter was also attached. Thank you once again. I really appreciate your response.
JMG12:
Read your story.
1. Your sponsor doesn't need to show their account if the money will be available in your account; you do a gift deed as indicated, notarize it, and show proof of source of income. You can do an invoice to back it up for his business; pictures in the farm are not just enough—that is cheap evidence. Also include your dad's employment documents.
2. Affidavit of sponsorship and notarize it. You don't need to state that the 2M and 3M were loans; it doesn't prove his business is strong. You can claim those funds as sales from castles.
3. Your wife will be left with your family, so they will look after her for you.

Hope you have considered living expenses before you conclude that what you need is 15M?

I will be extremely grateful if any one can provide some insight in my case here sad

Hello,

I got an admission for a Masters in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manitoba. In addition to my admission, I have a GA/TA scholarship of $20,000 and another scholarship that is applied directly to my tuition of $7,500. After, I calculated my deficit, I needed around 15 million naira to be in my personal account as proof of fund. My dad would be transferring a sum of 20 million naira to my account as gift. However, the 20 million naira in my Dad's account also appear like a lump sum because they were deposited largely. Part of this deposit was two loans from a non-interest society (one 2m, and another 3m) that will also provide a letter of loan and repayment plan for the loan, which I will attach to my Letter of Explanation. The explanation for the other 15 million is that my dad sold cattles from his farm (to different people who sent the money to his account) and I will be attaching a picture of me and my dad with his cattles to show he has the cattles (this is the only way I can think of to proof this, please kindly guide me if there is some other way). Please note that I am married and I indicated in my LoE that my wife will be taken care of with the remaining 5 million from the 20 millions in my account and if otherwise, my family will be there for her (she is in her final year in school). Please note that, my Dad is originally a civil servant with a monthly salary a little bit above a million. Firstly, I wanted to know if my story is okay or what else I can do to position myself well to the visa officer.
Secondly, I am quite confused on how to go about the gift of deed. Is it just a letter? Does it require notarizing? Does it require the presence of a lawyer? Is it to be done at the high court?

I will be very grateful for any insight anyone can give me on my case.

Thank you.

TravelRe: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by greatman2000: 9:28am On Jun 27, 2025
Hello,

I will be starting my Masters degree on a scholarship of $20,000 per year in Manitoba by January 2026 if my study permit is approved. I will be getting married by July (2025) and I was hoping to start my visa application after I'm married to be able to show in my application that I'm married. My spouse is still currently a student in Nigeria and would be finishing her study by August 2026. My plan and wish is that she would be able to come on SOWP immediately after she's done. I'm just trying to get it right and know what is possible and what is not possible; also, what to be done and what not. What do I need to do in my own application in Nigeria before travelling? More so, what do I need to do when I get to Canada (if my study permit is approved)? Is it feasible for my spouse to join me on SOWP immediately after she's done with her study? In all, any advise on how I can make this possible.

Thank you.
