Ahead of the 2023 elections, the major contenders are the usual suspects of the representatives of the two major parties in the country APC and PDP. The United States District Court sitting at the Central District of California on Monday sentenced convicted fraudster, Ramon Abbas, aka Hushpupi, to 11 years and three months’ imprisonment after he was found guilty of laundering proceeds of a school financing scam, business email compromise and other fraudulent cyber schemes.

The United States Department of Justice, in a statement on Tuesday, said the Instagram celebrity was also ordered by a federal judge to pay $1.7m in restitution to two fraud victims.

The judgment, which was delivered by Justice Otis Wright II, put an end to Hushpuppi’s trial that started after his arrest in June 2020 in his Dubai, United Arab Emirates hotel apartment.

The Assistant Director in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Office, Don Alway, in the statement, described Hushpuppi as “one of the most prolific money launderers in the world.”

An online news platform, Premium Times, reported that Hushpuppi’s wife, Regina Manneh, and two Imams, wrote separately from Lagos and Borno states to the US district court to beg for leniency.

Nigerian rapper, Dablixx Osha has been reported dead at age 27.
Dablixx Osha is a lyricist, singer, and rapper from Nigeria. He became an internet sensation after sharing a series of Instagram freestyle that exhibited his ability to rap using the indigenous Yoruba dialect.
His untimely demise is coming weeks after he released a song where he said his mother dreamt of his death.

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Audi, has advised eligible officers sitting for the 2022 promotion examination not to engage in any conduct that is inimical to the corporate image of the corps, assuring that due process would be followed as always.
Audi assured that the examination would be conducted in adherence to the principle of transparency and fairness, stating that modalities are already in place to ensure that officers qualified for promotion to the next ranks are not left uncatered for.
This was contained in a statement signed by the corps spokesperson, Olusola Odumosu, on Wednesday.
The CG intimated that promotion of senior officers in the corps remained an exclusive preserve of the Civil Defence Correctional Fire Immigration Services Board based on performance evaluation, availability of vacancies, quota system among other considerations.
He maintained that under his watch, the era of junior officers getting promotion before their seniors is gone.
He noted “I urge my officers to shun the habit of lobbying to get promotion through backdoors and other influential people.
“This is uncalled for and also giving our administration a bad reputation as those who do not have anyone to influence on their behalf are misled to believe that the CG is the one responsible for the lopsidedness, thereby causing insinuations that the CG is conducting arbitrary promotions and favouring selected few.

I will invite my wife’s family members, whether her father or mother and talk about the issue. If they are late, I will speak to any of her relatives. Being drunk does not mean I will divorce her. I will advise and pray for her but if she does not want to change, I will walk out of the marriage.

I will talk to him since I am his spouse and give him reasons why his act will affect the relationship and our future. But if there are no changes, I will have to report him to his relatives for them to talk to him. I can also visit a marriage counsellor to counsel me on the steps to take because his act might be as a result of my own behaviour or he might be thinking of something he doesn’t want to tell anyone. We will both try to work on what is bothering him if he decides to share it and both find solutions to it. I think going to a counsellor will help more because the counsellor will ask questions that will help us.

If I have a wife and after marriage I find out that she is drunk, the first thing I will do is to find out what is responsible for it. This is because I cannot know that my wife-to-be is a drunk and I will not seek a solution to the situation before making wedding plans. If she fails to heed to counselling, corrections and advice then there is a need to break away from such a person. The best thing is for us to pray that God gives us a good wife.

We will look at it from two perspectives. As a spouse, am I just a wife or a believer? It takes a lot to have a spouse that is drunk. Is he responsible in the other spheres of life and in the home? In marriage, one has to be tenacious. The only tenable reason for divorce is when domestic violence and infidelity are involved. If one sees it that way, then both partners will have a better understanding of their marriage.

If I caution him countless times as a wife and he is not heeding to my advice, as a believer I will go into prayer for him. I will also advise him to see a therapist because frustration may be responsible for what he is going through.

Kenya Airways pilots returned to work on Wednesday after a court ordered them to end their days-long strike, which had led to hundreds of flight cancellations and stranded thousands of passengers.

The strike, which began on Saturday, exacerbated the troubled national carrier’s woes, which has vowed to “do everything possible to return to normalcy in the shortest time.”

Hours after a Nairobi court ordered the pilots to return to work; the Kenya Airline Pilots Association said its members would “resume duty” by 06:00 am (0300 GMT) on Wednesday — the deadline stipulated by the judge.

“The strike is off; we are back to work,” a KALPA spokesperson told AFP Wednesday.

Despite the announcement ending the strike, Kenya Airways’ latest online update showed just 19 flights operating on Wednesday, fewer than the 26 scheduled the day before.

KALPA launched the walkout at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in defiance of a court injunction issued last week against the strike, prompting the government to threaten the pilots with disciplinary action.

In a breakthrough for the beleaguered airline, Justice Anna Mwaure on Tuesday ordered KALPA members to resume their duties “unconditionally” by 6:00 am Wednesday. Read more
