Politics / Military To Zulum: Stop Demoralising Soldiers With Your Comments by GreenAgain: 7:00pm On Aug 15, 2020
The military has asked Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno state, to be mindful of his remarks against the troops fighting insurgency.

Last month, the governor accused soldiers of being behind an attack on his convoy in Baga, a town in Borno.

The attack was believed to have been carried out by Boko Haram insurgents but Zulum attributed it to a sabotage from the army.

He later said he would mobilise hunters to do the job if the troops were unable to secure Baga.

But after the military’s investigation into the attack, Felix Omoigui, a major-general and deputy theatre commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, said the governor’s claims were untrue.

“The governor of Borno state believed these allegations levelled against troops of the 19 Brigade in Baga given his recent utterances,” he said.

“Remarks of highly placed persons are capable of demoralising the troops which would negatively impact on operations and the confidence of the locals in the military.

“Allegations of such nature could be avoided if the military authority was contacted on issues concerning troops activities before going public.

“The realisations that the allegation emanated from security agencies could trigger reactions and animosity among troops and attendant negative consequences.”

Omogui also said the allegations that troops were engaged in farming in the area were false, adding that the prohibition of troops from engaging in farming and fishing activities in area of responsibility is contained in the standing operating procedures.

“The allegations were conjured by some overzealous security agencies who for personal glory and without recourse for the tenets of inter-agency cooperation decided to propagate falsehood,” he said.

He added that the military’s investigative team found that the entire area of Baga was too heavily mined with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to encourage any farming activity, and that 55 mines have so far been detonated since the town was reclaimed.

Health / Frozen Chicken From Brazil To China Tested Positive To COVID-19 by GreenAgain: 6:13pm On Aug 13, 2020
The authorities of the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen have urged consumers to be on the alert when buying imported frozen food after a sample of chicken wings from Brazil tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a statement on Thursday, the coronavirus was discovered after the local disease control centres took a surface sample from a batch of chicken wings while conducting routine screenings on imported frozen food.

“On August 11th, Shenzhen Longgang District conducted investigation and inspection of imported cold-chain food. On August 12th, the provincial and municipal CDCs reviewed and found a surface sample of frozen chicken wings imported from Brazil (registration number: SIF601; batch number: 7720051522) The new coronavirus nucleic acid test result was positive,” the statement read.

Shenzhen’s health authorities also traced and tested everyone who might have been exposed to the products.

“The results were all negative, and close contacts of positive samples were included in health management; all relevant stock products in the city were sealed and carried out Nucleic acid test results are all negative,” it added.

“All products sold are traced and notified to relevant agencies for disposal; the outer packaging and storage environment of relevant products are all eliminated.”

The development comes at about the same time when traces of the coronavirus were found on the packaging of shrimps imported from Ecuador, another South American country.

“It is hard to say at which stage the frozen chicken got infected,” Reuters quoted a China-based official at a Brazilian meat exporter to have said.

The Chinese authorities have been stepping up screenings at ports since June, after a coronavirus outbreak emerged from the largest wholesale food market in Beijing.

Politics / Take Over Political Positions From Older Generation, Obasanjo Tells Youths by GreenAgain: 4:38am On Aug 13, 2020
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called on African youths to take active part in political activities in their various countries, so as to flush out older generation from office.
Obasanjo, who made the call while delivering a keynote address at an interactive session held virtually to mark this year’s International Youth Day, organized by the Youth Development Centre, an arm of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, enjoined them to take over leadership positions by “squeezing older generation out of office.”
He asked them to demand affirmative action enshrined in the constitution of political parties, as part of a gradual process to phase out the old generation of leaders in the continent.
According to him, unless the leaders are forced out of the stage, they would continue to occupy the leadership positions.
“Unless you squeeze out those who are in the office and those who want to remain in office perpetually, some after the age of 80. Unless you squeeze them out they will not want to be out,” he said.
The former President also told the youths that they could influence the change by participating actively in political parties.
He submitted that it is easier to influence changes at the party level rather than governance level.
Obasanjo said “The type of change I am talking about, that I believe we can all embark upon is to subscribe into the constitution of political parties in favour of youth. Or if you like it you call it affirmative action in favour of youths. For instance, if you say, in the constitution of a political party, not less than 50 per cent of those who hold executive office within the party will be less than 40 years of age.
“You’re just making sure that people that are 40 years of age will hold 50 per cent of executive offices within the political party.
“You can even go beyond that and say that people who will be put up for election, not less than 50 per cent of them, will be less than 40 years of age. That’s affirmative action. That’s positive discrimination in favour of youths.
“I am saying this because if you leave it entirely for people to do it for you, nobody will do it for you. You have to do it for yourself.”
Participants of the interactive session were drawn from Nigeria, Mali, USA, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa.

Politics / Only 30 Police Officers Provide Security For 100 Villages In Katsina State by GreenAgain: 9:07am On Aug 05, 2020
Aminu Masari, Katsina governor, says only 30 police officers provide security for 100 villages in the state.

Speaking at a luncheon to mark Eid-El-Kabir with troops on the frontline, Masari said the number of the police officers is inadequate to cover the villages in the state.

The governor said his administration is working to amend laws of the state to give power to local authorities to curb the activities of bandits.

He said the hoodlums have blended in so much with the local communities that it is hard to differentiate them from the locals.

“This would complement ongoing efforts to emplace a robust community policing structure, whilst addressing the gross deficit in the number of police personnel available at local levels, which is in the range of an average of about 30 policemen to about 100 villages,” the former house of representatives speaker said.

“Even if the bandits were wiped out by the military, another generation of criminal elements would quickly take their place in the absence of governance and adequate policing.

“The bandits are intertwined within the communities so sometimes it may be difficult for the NAF or the army to distinguish them from the locals in order to conduct offensive operations devoid of collateral damage.

“The locals must stop giving support, information or safe havens to these criminals.”

On his part, Sadique Abubakar, chief of air staff, said unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will be deployed in Katsina and Zamfara states to curb the activities of the bandits.

Business / EXCLUSIVE: Here Is The Nigerian Who Will Buy Shoprite’s Stake by GreenAgain: 6:39pm On Aug 03, 2020
Shoprite, Africa’s largest food retailer, announced on Monday it is considering selling off its majority share in its Nigerian subsidiary.

In a trading update filed at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), the retail giant said it has begun the formal process of liquidating its majority share.

“Following approaches from various potential investors, and in line with our re-evaluation of the group’s operating model in Nigeria, the board has decided to initiate a formal process to consider the potential sale of all, or a majority stake, in Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of Shoprite International Limited. As such, Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited may be classified as a discontinued operation when Shoprite reports its results for the year,’’ it said.

TheCable understands there is a corporate tussle among three entities to bite into the larger stake of the retailer.

Persianas Nigeria Limited, a property development company, owned by Tayo Amusan, is said to be the preferred bidder for the Shoprite stake.

Amusan is a businessman invested in property development. Some of his properties house the stores of Shoprite.

Amusan founded Persianas in 1990. In 2004, he launched, The Palms. Owing to the success of The Palms in Lagos, he floated three additional malls in Enugu, Kwara, Ota and Ibadan.

Amusan sits on the board of several Nigerian companies, including African Paints Nigeria Limited, and he is also the chairman of Resourcery Limited.

The two other contenders are said to be another property development company but with links to a foreign country, and a South African company backed by South Africa’s pension fund. Though Amusan is mooted to be the favoured investor, the other bidders are pushing negotiations hard.

TheCable understands the deal will involve Shoprite retaining the management of its chain of operations, brand name, trademarks, and supply chain.

In an internal memo of July 31 seen by TheCable, Carl Erickson, general manager of the retailer, informed employees that the revision in the business is to make the company ‘’truly Nigerian’’.

The memo read: “The expansion of the retail business in Nigeria to a greater consumer market should remain everybody’s shared vision. It has, however, become apparent that the best manner in which to do this is by engaging Nigerian investors who share in this vision. In so doing we will be creating a truly Nigerian business run and owned by Nigerians for the Nigerian market.”

Shoprite posted a sharp decline in sales of 6.3 percent in the 2020 fiscal year.

The retailer launched in Nigeria nearly 15 years ago, opening its first store in Lagos in December 2005.

That chain has grown from one to more than 25 retail stores across Nigeria — including some of the biggest retail stores in west Africa.

Family / Re: Are Opposite-sex Friendships Okay In Marriage? by GreenAgain: 3:23pm On Jul 18, 2020
When it comes to marriage or would-be-marriage relationship, the question of BOUNDARY sets in.

Both partners must realise they are no longer 2 but 1 and therefore, the friends of each other's previously collapse to become "our friends". Hence, we say friends of the couple but unfortunately this is no longer the practice as modern individuals now possess individual friends despite being married or engaged which had resulted into EMOTIONAL INFIDELITY (is not only 'dickology + virginalogy' that makes you cheated but when you crave psychological attention towards another).

The truth is, FRIENDSHIP is not the problem but BOUNDARIES. Marriage requires BOUNDARIES and when you disbodey this all inthe name of FRIENFSHIP, the resultant effect is suspessions, assumptions leading to fighting, querrels and domestic violence whether the friendship of female-male, male-female, male-male and even female-female. Of course this is so as we now have lesbians and gays despite being married or in courtship.

So, having friends despite being married or committed is not the problem, but insincerity of humans. As a married or relationship-committed lady or guy, who do you give your ATTENTION? After work hours, where do go and who are you always with: friends or your partner? Even in the same home, marriages are collapsing because ATTENTION are shifted toward FRIENDS all in the name of SOCIAL MEDIA (Facebook, messages, WhatsApp, Instagram, FaceTime and whatever). Almost everyone has given in to the power of the serpent (remember the old serpent who tricked EVE at the garden of Eden).and you do not just eat the FRUIT immediately, he/she is waiting...

If our generation must survive in marriages and relationships, it's time to realise once you married or committed, you no longer individually have friends but family friends and even at that, BOUNDARIES comes in.
Truth, do you expect your wife to be taken by her ex to an eatery and old feelings will not rise? You chat and throwing attention day and night outside your relationship/marriage (buy lunch, gifts for ladies as a man or eat lunches, accepts gift as a lady) and you expect no chain reaction? Come on, humans are not woods.

Be it as it main, once you are married or in serious courtship, set BOUNDARIES and keep your HEART in your partner. Do not rationalize lust (do not forget "only those who you know can harm you and your destiny).
Wisdom, they say profiteth

Career / Airforce First Female Combatant Helicopter Pilot Dies — Eight Months After Sp by GreenAgain: 7:35am On Jul 15, 2020
Eight months ago, Tolulope Arotile, the first female helicopter pilot in the history of the Nigerian Air Force, was decorated by Sadique Abubakar, chief of air staff.

Arotile had just ended a programme at the Starlite International Training Academy, South Africa.

While decorating her alongside Kafayat Sanni, the first female fighter pilot, Abubakar had said: “They are not only female officers but outstanding aviators. While one of the two pilots is the first female fighter pilot in the 55 years history of the NAF, the second one is the first female combatant helicopter pilot.”

But less than a year after, Arotile was killed in an accident at the Nigerian Air Force base in Kaduna state.

Arotile: She has embarked on a journey of no return

According to a statement, the deceased did not recover from the injuries sustained in the accident.

She was said to have lived a “short but impactful life”.

“It is with great sorrow that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) regretfully announces the unfortunate demise of Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile, who died today, 14 July 2020, as a result of head injuries sustained from a road traffic accident at NAF Base Kaduna,” the statement read.‬

“Until her death, ‪Flying Officer Arotile, who was commissioned into the NAF in September 2017 as a member of Nigerian Defence Academy Regular Course 64, was the first ever female combat helicopter pilot in the Service.‬ During her short but impactful stay in the Service, late Arotile, who hailed from Iffe in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, contributed significantly to the efforts to rid the North Central States of armed bandits and other criminal elements by flying several combat missions under Operation GAMA AIKI in Minna, Niger State.

“The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, on behalf of officers, airmen, airwomen and civilian staff of the NAF, commiserates with the family of late ‪Flying Officer Arotile‬ over this irreparable loss. We pray that the Almighty God grants her soul eternal rest.”

When she graduated as the best flight student from her set in 2017, her parents were among those who attended a ceremony held in her honour.

After that programme, the mother had taken to social media to express her joy.

Sanni, Abubakar and Arotile on the day history was made in the air force

“On behalf of my entire family. Engr Akin and Mrs Arotile l will like to sincerely appreciate every 1 for honouring the invitation to celebrate with PILOT OFFICER T.AROTILE. I am indeed grateful and pray that God will reward you all exceedingly and abundantly above all you wld think or ask of Him. Once again, thank u and God bless,” she had written.

Politics / 'malami Risks 5 Years In Jail’ — Lawyer Speaks On Sale Of Seized Oil Assets by GreenAgain: 7:38am On Jul 14, 2020
Kabir Akingbolu, a human rights lawyer, says Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation (AGF), risks five years in prison for “illegally” approving the auctioning of sea vessels holding crude oil and diesel seized by the federal government.

Malami was reported to have given approval for the sale of the oil assets valued at millions of naira and seized by security agencies over illegal oil bunkering.

He was said to have directed Omoh-Jay Nigeria Ltd, an oil firm, to auction the crude oil and diesel in four sea vessels despite the firm being tried for allegedly stealing about 12,000 metric tonnes of crude oil in 2009.

In his defence, Malami said he committed no illegality in approving the auction.

The minister said by virtue of Section 36 (5) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Omoh-Jay Nigeria Ltd which is a duly registered company can participate in the auction bidding process since it is yet to be found guilty for the allegations for which it is standing trial.

However, in a statement on Monday, Akingbolu said Malami acted beyond his powers when he independently gave approval for auctioning without the authorisation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He said section 31 (4) of the EFCC Act gives powers to the AGF to only make rules for the disposal of seized assets to ensure that the power of sale is not abused by the EFCC.

“To further expose the anomalies and administrative recklessness of Malami, may I invite him on a short excursion into section 31 (2) and (4) of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, which is the enabling Act, under which he purportedly acted,” he said.

“It is submitted that the AGF does not have such power either under section 174 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or under the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

“For the purpose of elucidation and contrary to the highly misguided position of the AGF, section 31 (2) of the EFCC Act states that upon receipt of a final order pursuant to this section, the secretary to the commission shall take steps to dispose of the property concerned by sale or otherwise and where the property is sold, the proceeds thereof shall be paid into the consolidated revenue fund of the federation.

“In order to ensure that the power of sale of confiscated properties is not abused by the EFCC, the AGF is authorized by section 31 (4) of the EFCC Act to ‘make rules or regulations for the disposal or sale of any property or assets forfeited pursuant to this Act.’ But instead of making the ‘rules or regulations’ to guide the EFCC in the sale of confiscated properties, the AGF decided to appoint contractors including a criminal suspect to dispose of confiscated properties.”

He added that the AGF who represents the state is supposed to try to prove the guilt of the accused (Omoh-Jay Nigeria Ltd) rather, he is acting “as the mouthpiece of the suspect by singing the mantra of presumption of innocence for an accused.”

Akingbolu said since the AGF has admitted that he personally authorised the sale of confiscated properties without the authorisation of the EFCC, he has “committed an offence under section 32 (1) of the EFCC Act” and is “liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term of five years without the option of a fine.”

He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to order the inspector general of police to arrest Malami.

Health / The Politics Of Covid-19 And How China Betrayed The World by GreenAgain: 9:29pm On Jul 10, 2020
EXCLUSIVE: Chinese virologist accuses Beijing of coronavirus cover-up, flees Hong Kong: 'I know how they treat whistleblowers'
Li-Meng Yan told Fox News that she believes China knew about the coronavirus well before it claimed it did. She says her supervisors also ignored research she was doing that she believes could have saved lives.

Dr. Li-Meng Yan, a virologist from Hong Kong, tells Fox News in an exclusive interview about the early research she says she conducted into COVID-19, and why she believes that research was withheld from the world.

Hours before she boarded an April 28 Cathay Pacific flight to the United States, the respected doctor who specialized in virology and immunology at the Hong Kong School of Public Health had plotted her escape, packing her bag and sneaking past the censors and video cameras on campus.

She had her passport and her purse and was about to leave all of her loved ones behind. If she was caught, she knew she could be thrown in jail -- or, worse, rendered one of the "disappeared."

Yan told Fox News in an exclusive interview that she believes the Chinese government knew about the novel coronavirus well before it claimed it did. She says her supervisors, renowned as some of the top experts in the field, also ignored research she was doing at the onset of the pandemic that she believes could have saved lives.

She adds that they likely had an obligation to tell the world, given their status as a World Health Organization reference laboratory specializing in influenza viruses and pandemics, especially as the virus began spreading in the early days of 2020.

Yan, now in hiding, claims the government in the country where she was born is trying to shred her reputation and accuses government goons of choreographing a cyber-attack against her in hopes of keeping her quiet.

Yan believes her life is in danger. She fears she can never go back to her home and lives with the hard truth that she’ll likely never see her friends or family there again.

Still, she says, the risk is worth it.

"The reason I came to the U.S. is because I deliver the message of the truth of COVID," she told Fox News from an undisclosed location.

She added that if she tried to tell her story in China, she "will be disappeared and killed."

Yan's story weaves an extraordinary claim about cover-ups at the highest levels of government and seemingly exposes the obsessive compulsion of President Xi Jinping and his Communist Party to control the coronavirus narrative: what China knew, when it knew it and what edited information it peddled to the rest of the world.

Yan, who says she was one of the first scientists in the world to study the novel coronavirus, was allegedly asked by her supervisor at the University/WHO reference lab, Dr. Leo Poon, in 2019 to look into the odd cluster of SARS-like cases coming out of mainland China at the end of December 2019.

"The China government refused to let overseas experts, including ones in Hong Kong, do research in China," she said. "So I turned to my friends to get more information."

Yan had an extensive network of professional contacts in various medical facilities in mainland China, having grown up and completed much of her studies there. She says that is the precise reason she was asked to conduct this kind of research, especially at a time when she says her team knew they weren’t getting the whole truth from the government.

One friend, a scientist at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in China, had first-hand knowledge of the cases and purportedly told Yan on Dec. 31 about human-to-human transmission well before China or the WHO admitted such spread was possible.

She reported some of these early findings back to her boss, Yan said.

"He just nodded," she recalled, and told her to keep working.

A few days later, on Jan. 9, 2020, the WHO put out a statement: "According to Chinese authorities, the virus in question can cause severe illness in some patients and does not transmit readily between people... There is limited information to determine the overall risk of this reported cluster.”

Yan said she and her colleagues across China discussed the peculiar virus but that she soon noted a sharp shift in tone.

Doctors and researchers who had been openly discussing the virus suddenly clammed up. Those from the city of Wuhan--which later would become the hub of the outbreak--went silent and others were warned not to ask them details.

The doctors said, ominously, "We can't talk about it, but we need to wear masks,'" Yan said.

Then the numbers of human-to-human transmission began to grow exponentially, according to her sources, and Yan started digging for answers.

"There are many, many patients who don't get treatment on time and diagnosis on time," Yan said. "Hospital doctors are scared, but they cannot talk. CDC staff are scared."

She said she reported her findings to her supervisor again on Jan. 16 but that's when he allegedly told her "to keep silent, and be careful."

"As he warned me before, 'Don't touch the red line,'" Yan said referring to the government. "We will get in trouble and we'll be disappeared."

She also claims the co-director of a WHO-affiliated lab, Professor Malik Peiris, knew but didn't do anything about it.

Peiris also did not respond to requests for comment. The WHO website lists Peiris as an "adviser" on the WHO International Health Regulations Emergency Committee for Pneumonia due to the Novel Coronavirus 2019-nCoV.

Yan was frustrated, but not surprised.

"I already know that would happen because I know the corruption among this kind of international organization like the WHO to China government, and to China Communist Party," she said. "So basically... I accept it but I don't want this misleading information to spread to the world."

WHO admits China did not self-report its coronavirus outbreakVideo
The WHO and China have vehemently denied claims of a coronavirus cover-up.

The WHO has also denied that Yan, Poon or Peiris ever worked directly for the organization.

"Professor Malik Peiris is an infectious disease expert who has been on WHO missions and expert groups - as are many people eminent in their fields," WHO spokeswoman Margaret Ann Harris said in an email. "That does not make him a WHO staff member, nor does he represent WHO."

Yan says despite any pushback, she has been emboldened by a sense of right and wrong and says she had to speak up despite the personal and professional consequences.

"I know how they treat whistleblowers," she said.

"I know how they treat whistleblowers."

— Dr. Li-Meng Yan
Like so many before her, once Yan decided to speak out against China, she discovered her life was apparently in jeopardy, as well as that of those closest to her.

It was a fear directly relayed to her and seemingly confirmed by U.S.-based Hong Kong blogger Lu Deh, she says.

After she shared some of her theories and suspicions with him, he told her she would need to relocate, perhaps to the United States, where she wouldn't have to constantly look over her shoulder. Only then would she be safe and have a platform to speak, he said.

Yan made the decision to leave, but things got complicated when her husband of six years, who also worked at her lab, discovered the telephone call between his wife and the blogger.

Yan told Fox News she begged her husband to go with her, and says while her spouse, a reputable scientist himself, had initially been supportive of her research, he suddenly had a change of heart.

"He was totally pissed off," she said. "He blamed me, tried to ruin my confidence... He said they will kill all of us.'"

"He said, 'they will kill all of us.'"

— Dr. Li-Meng Yan
Shocked and hurt, Yan made the decision to leave without him.

She got her ticket to the U.S. on April 27. She was on a flight the next day.

When she landed at Los Angeles International Airport after her 13-hour journey, she was stopped by customs officials.

Fear gripped her and Yan didn't know if she would end up in jail or be sent back to China.

"I had to tell them the truth," she said. "I'm doing the right thing. So I tell them that 'don't let me go back to China. I'm the one who came to tell the truth here of COVID-19... And please protect me. If not, the China government will kill me."

The FBI was allegedly called in to investigate. Yan claims they interviewed her for hours, took her cell phone as evidence and allowed her to continue to her destination.

The FBI told Fox News it could neither confirm nor deny Yan's claims; however, Fox News was shown an evidence receipt that appeared to confirm an interaction.

As Yan was trying to find her footing in America, she says her friends and family back home were being put through the wringer.

Yan claims the government swarmed her hometown of Qingdao and that agents ripped apart her tiny apartment and questioned her parents. When she contacted her mother and father, they pleaded with her to come home, told her she didn't know what she was talking about and begged her to give up the fight.

The University of Hong Kong took down her page and apparently revoked access to her online portals and emails, despite the fact that she says she was on an approved annual leave. In a statement to Fox News, a school spokesperson said Yan is not currently an employee.

"Dr Li-Meng Yan is no longer a staff member of the University," the statement read. "Out of respect for our current and former employees, we don’t disclose personal information about her. Your understanding is appreciated."

Hogan Gidley: Trump exiting W.H.O. over China 'cover-up,' 'malfeasance'Video
The Chinese Embassy in the United States told Fox News they don't know who Yan is and maintain China has handled the pandemic heroically.

"We have never heard of this person," the emailed statement read. "The Chinese government has responded swiftly and effectively to COVID-19 since its outbreak. All its efforts have been clearly documented in the white paper "Fighting COVID-19: China in Action" with full transparency. Facts tell all."

The WHO has also continued to deny any wrongdoing during the earliest days of the virus. The medical arm of the United Nations has been taken to task recently by scientists challenging its official view of how the virus spreads. The WHO has also altered the coronavirus timeline on its website, now saying it got information about the virus from WHO scientists and not the Beijing authorities--as it has claimed for more than six months.

Crime / Hushpuppi: The New Official Face Of The Average Nigerian... by GreenAgain: 8:41pm On Jul 10, 2020
When all the hypocrisy evaporates, we can put on our glasses and see clearly that in the Nigeria of today, the extremely few people who are not from the HUSHPUPPI CLAN are the endangered species.

The metamorphosis into this reality started many years ago, when the likes of OVASION Magazine, BOS and other TV shows & magazines replaced the academic competitions with showcasing private jets and luxury homes of young footballers, their fast cars and the celebrations of the high and mighty...

Rubbing the lifestyles of the rich in the face of the suffering masses while the hardworking retired men died on the queue in the wait for pensions that never came...
The banks had security men who allowed only luxury cars into the parking lots within their compounds while 'other' vehicles park along the road...

Then, suddenly, almost every young person either wants to go and play football abroad or do some other work in Italy...

Secondary school teachers sell exam questions and parents who can afford them buy them...

In the higher institutions, the buying and selling continues...
Our graduates cannot invent anything because most projects are bought in the market and installed in the lecturer's /supervisor's new house for the students to pass and graduate.

Most of the get rich quick scams that ravage our society from time to time often - if not always have the secret collaboration of our banks...

What about the HUSHPUPPI GOVERNMENT in place?

Many of our traditional stools are presently occupied by members of the HUSHPUPPI CLAN.

Should I look away from the clan members behind the pulpits in our churches and mosques?

The civil service and the justice system are run by this same clan.

The security outfits are terribly HUSHPUPPIED

You have a right to be angry at this post or the writer..

Winners of academic competitions win N500,000 or double in prize while crazy reality show competitors can exhibit a lack of home training and loose morals to win houses, luxury cars and N25m plus endorsements to REPRESENT corporations.

HUSHPUPPI IS A REPRESENTATION OR THE FACE OF THE NEW 'NORMAL' NIGERIAN.

The fact that you're yet to scam anyone does not exonerate you... Most people are just looking for the right opportunities to take the stage.

Only a few aren't in the HUSHPUPPI CLAN. THEY ARE THE ENDANGERED SPECIES...

European countries have started opening their gates for the POST COVID19 life to resume... They're making lists of countries that can visit... They have a good excuse... I am yet to see Nigeria on any of the lists...
This lists will increase gradually...

Somewhere deep within me, I cannot tell how or when, but I still have this hope that Nigeria as a people will re-emerge and succeed as a nation...

HUSHPUPPI IS NOT A PERSON, HUSHPUPPI IS A PEOPLE.

This thing deep gan-an... Much more elaborate than I know or can explain.

It's in our faces.

Science/Technology / FG Says Report On 5G Deployment Ready by GreenAgain: 12:27pm On Jul 10, 2020
Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, minister of Communications and Digital Economy, has said that the report on the deployment or otherwise of Fifth Generation (5G) network in Nigeria is ready but it will not go live until experts from all the country’s major sectors recommend its deployment.
Pantami who spoke Thursday in a virtual Annual General Meeting and Induction of new members by the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) said the government would not deploy the newest telecom network until professionals from health, telecom, ICT, engineering, defense, financial, media sectors and others made recommendations for its deployment.
“There must be unanimous decision from chosen experts from all the country’s major sectors before the government give go ahead for 5G deployment,” the minister said.

He said though 5G is very important, overall safety of Nigerians supersedes its importance. He said if the experts found out it was safe and recommend its deployment, it would be deployed. ‘’But if it is found not to be safe for deployment in the country we will not deploy it,’’ he added.

He said the 5G deployment was stalled in some countries across the world due to conspiracy theory around its safety.

Speaking on the keynote lecture, Adoption of 5G in Nigeria: The Technological and Regulatory Challenges, Engr Uche Osuji said all telecom operators in the country are ready for 5G deployment.

Osuji, who is a senior manager with MTN Nigeria, said deployment of 5G network will revolutionise Nigeria’s economy. He listed global politics as one of the major challenges stalling its deployment across the world.

Prof. Charles Uwadia, president and chairman-in-Council of CPN, had earlier said the adoption of 5G would drive economic growth and social inclusion in Nigeria.

Family / Emotional Affair: This Might Just Be The Problem With Your Home by GreenAgain: 5:26pm On Jul 09, 2020
THE MOST COMMON WAY TO CHEAT IS NOT WHAT YOU'D THINK

When you think about an affair, you probably think of something physical. Your mind may go to two people meeting in a grimy hotel room to secretly hook-up behind their partners' backs. The narrative about affairs is most-often about sex.

But the most common way to cheat may mean that you never even touch the other person.

Emotional affairs are defined as platonic or friendly feelings towards another person that gradually turn into romantic or sexual ones while you're in a monogamous relationship with someone else. Simply put: An emotional affair crosses the boundary of friendship and veers off into an inappropriate path.

Money problems main reason for relationship breakdown
These types of affairs are increasingly common. Around 45% of men and 35% of women have admitted to having some sort of emotional affair, which is more than 20% more than people who admit to having a physical affair.

One reason for the commonality is that many people don't view emotional cheating as cheating. People can obviously have close friendships with people of the same genders they're attracted to, but having an emotional affair skirts a line further than friendship — and not everyone knows when they've crossed that line. They can easily connect with a new person on social media or simply through a text, which makes an emotional affair easier to achieve and easier to hide.

Another reason is that people are busy and don't take the time to emotionally connect with their partners. Because of this, they may not view them as someone they can still connect with on an emotional level.

"In the tasks of daily life, our emotional needs often get pushed to the side," Lynn Saladino, a clinical psychologist, told me. "We stop seeing our partner as an emotional being and more as a person who helps us complete tasks and meet obligations. When this happens, it can be very tempting to seek support elsewhere."

This type of emotional attachment is scarily-easy to achieve and can even rear its ugly head in situations as simple as people being distracted by their phones.

"Emotional disconnection is a breeding ground for affairs. In today's world, it's so easy to be emotionally disconnected from others," relationship expert and psychologist Vijayeta Sinh told INSIDER. "We can be eating dinner with a friend, and chatting with another on Facebook. Most of us wake up and check our phones before we even say good morning to the person sleeping next to us. This kind of being-far-away while still-being-close allows us to hold secrets from people we care about, and hide things conveniently. It's actually quite dangerous because it makes us think we are close to someone when in fact we may not be."

Despite many feeling like a emotional affair may not even be cheating, the damages it can have may even be worse than a physical affair.

About 88% of women said that they were more concerned about their partners being engaged in an emotional affair than a physical one.

"I think emotional affairs are worse," Brian Kearney, a single man, told INSIDER. "Human beings have sexual needs, and although there’s no excuse in my eyes, physical affairs can be purely physical, while emotional affairs are connecting with someone on a level deeper than a purely physical affair could offer."

An emotional affair usually begins when you become close to the other person. Maybe you begin to look forward to your chats, become eager to get their input on a difficult decision in your own life. You might begin to hold their opinion highly above others'. This can be from anyone from a coworker — 60% of emotional affairs begin at work — to someone you're chatting with online.

"They are common because many people are emotionally distant from their partners because of their busy and distracted lives," David Bennett, counselor and co-author of the site "The Popular Man," told INSIDER. "Some partners may literally go days without a significant, distraction-free, emotional interaction with each other because of careers, hobbies, etc., so they seek it elsewhere."

But then something shifts. You may begin fantasizing about them sexually or thinking about what it would be like to date them. Your attraction to them becomes more romantic than friendly and you begin to rely on them emotionally because of the connection you've formed.

From there, the affair can go even further — this is usually when people become consciously aware that they are having an emotional affair. You begin to engage the other person by flirting, expressing your romantic feelings to them or eventually even turning the affair physical.

These are similar to the signs of a "normal" physical affair, and should be treated as such. Once you recognize you're having an emotional affair, you need to assess if you want to stay in your partnership or terminate the relationship. Either way, you need to come clean to your partner.

"If you've been caught, the first thing you do is own up to it. All of it," said Michelene M. Wasil, a licensed marriage and family therapist. "Stop trying to lie and cover up, it only makes things worse in the long run. Your partner will eventually find out, especially if you decide to try and save the marriage."

If you do try to salvage your relationship, it's important to attempt to identify why you strayed from the relationship. It's not your partner's fault that you cheated, but an emotional affair can be indicative that some emotional need is not being met in your relationship. This can be the result of a partner's actions or your own unwillingness to be vulnerable with your partner.

"While it’s common to assume that people cheat because they feel like they had no other choice or, rather, cheat because their partner made them feel invisible, emotional cheating also happens because the person cheating does not know how to let their partner in entirely," said Chelsea Leigh Trescott, a relationship advice columnist and breakup coach. "From this perspective, emotional cheating happens not because their partner isn't showing up for them and another person will, but because the person who is cheating is running away from showing up for themselves and their partner when they need to most."

Emotional affairs may be easier to slip into than a physical one, but there are ways to prevent this decline.

Have a talk about what you define as cheating and encourage your partner to check in about how they're feeling and what you can both do to connect more.

"Couples begin taking each other for granted, leaving one or both parties feeling undervalued in the relationship," Kayce Hodos, a professional counselor, told INSIDER. "If someone else comes along who is willing to listen and invest time, it can feel refreshing. Talk to your significant other the minute you sense some distance because it will only get worse if you don't confront it."

So, check yourself, observe your spouse or partner and profer solution to your home or relationship today.
