America's stated goal going into this war was regime change, they didn't just want to degrade Iran, they wanted the government gone. That's the bar they set for themselves.

Six months in, has that bar been cleared? No The opening strike killed Khamenei himself, the kind of decapitation strike that was supposed to make the regime collapse on contact. It didn't. The government held together and Iranians stood by their government. Meanwhile the costs kept stacking up on the American side. This war has gone through multiple ceasefires that didn't hold.

Then there's the Saudi angle. When Trump was gearing up for another massive strike on Iranian infrastructure in early August, Mohammed bin Salman personally called him and pushed for de-escalation instead, warning that further strikes risked Iranian retaliation against Gulf oil and water infrastructure. Trump called the strikes off days later. Some economists have gone further and argued MBS effectively used the threat of dumping Saudi Treasury holdings as leverage. You know how important Saudi is to America?

The Strait of Hormuz is the clearest scoreboard. It's been effectively closed to Western-allied shipping for most of this war, oil flows through it collapsed, and even after multiple deals to reopen it, transit has stayed a trickle rather than returning to normal. Whatever paper gets signed at the end, the strait of hormuz will NEVER return to how it was before the war.

Gas prices tell the same story, US pump prices have run roughly 40-plus percent higher than pre-war levels for months now, hovering around $4 a gallon. That's a tax on every American household and business, self-inflicted by a war that hasn't delivered the one thing it was launched to achieve. How long do you think Americans and American businesses will tolerate high gas price for?

And the pattern of who's initiating strikes has also flipped. Usually Iran would wait for USA to attack before they reply, now Iran is launching pre-emptive strikes. Who would have thought that? In this war it's been hitting US bases, Gulf allies' infrastructure, and shipping preemptively, on its own timeline. A country that's been beaten into submission doesn't dictate the tempo of a war. Iran currently is.

Add it up: the stated objective wasn't met, the war became domestically costly enough that a Gulf ally could talk Trump out of escalating further, the strait that's supposed to be a chokepoint for Iran has instead become a chokepoint on the US and global economy, and Iran is setting the pace of engagement rather than just reacting to it.

That's my definition of "lost". There's nothing new America can do now that will change the outcome of the war. If they continue fighting, they've lost, if they withdraw, they'll still have to sign peace agreement on Iran's terms - they've LOST.

Cement is 6k per bag on average in other Africa country but dangote and others think it make sense to 2x the price just to milk Nigerian that are already getting milked by the government
