I believe the low side should be between 30 and 40 psi with engine running. If it is lower, you may be low on refrigerant.
The high side should be between 200 and 250 psi. If it is higher, you may have a bad expansion valve or weak compressor. If it is higher, you may have a blocked condenser or failing fan or blocked inline filter or pinched discharge line. Ambient temps may affect these figures slightly.

Check the high side and low side pressure.

Get a competent ac tech who has the manifold gauge to do this.

It should be done in the afternoon (to replicate your symptoms).

He will be able to determine if your issue if from the compressor or condenser.

Please what should they specifically check out for when checking the high and low pressure.

I want to order a guage and try out some DIY project using the car. As I don't trust the local mechanics here. They may make the issue worse for me. They only know how to fill gas and tell you to convert to manual compressor.

Start from inspecting the filter. Dirty filter is usually thr culprit.

I have changed the cabin air filter. Still the same.

My AC chills very well in the morning and evening time. But during a hot sunny afternoon, it struggles to chill. The car is a 2013 Toyota Corolla. What do you think could be the issue?

The gas is still intact and nothing has been touched on the AC since car was bought as Tokunbo last year.

Why are they changing flywheel?

In all my years, I have never heard that the flywheel of a car went bad.

Also, you are right about the gear. Gear oil for that amount is definitely fake. Sadly. The mech may not even buy the one that's up to that 45k. Double jeopardy.

You can buy original Type 4 transmission oil from mypartsng. Search for them online. They are reliable.

For th steering rack, it can be fixed depending on what's wrong with.

I once fixed mine in my own former car then. It was making noise on rough roads. It was fixed and it stopped. But it's 50-50 sha. Because the steering may become stiff afterward.

Wow. Mostly likely the fake one. The guy told me he uses two types, the one of 70k and 45k that both works perfectly and I opted for the one of 45k. Total 90k for two cans

He cheated you. Because that one he sold you for 45k is actually sold for 25k.

It's sad that all of these happened. Your problems probably started when the first ignorant mechanic poured Ibeto oil into your transmission.

The slight kick you described was likely from your inner shaft cups or even engine mounts.

Good evening gurus and experience drivers nd mechanics in the house, I think my Camry 2013 is having a gear issue.. bought the car from a lady about 3 weeks ago, a scan was done on it which was fine apart from missing catalyst and engine was very sound and untouched . everything seems fine apart from the fact that it was badly maintained.. Did some body works( full oven baked) changed headlamp etc . A week later, I noticed a slight kick while driving.. like when I hold break and try to accelerate again, I notice a slight kick so I took it to the mechanic and he said seems the gear oil needed to be topped.

Went to another mechanic the next day for the oil topping and he drained the old oil claiming the oil was bad and smells burnt so changed it, but made a grave mistake due to ignorance by putting in ibeto oil. The following day the issue got worse and this time my engine was lifting up when I engage reverse or drive. Made research that night and realised the wrong oil was used instead of Toyota WS. Went back to the mechanic very mad at him and he claimed Toyota doesn’t select oil lol… had to call another mechanic that confirmed ibeto oil was the wrong oil since it’s too thick.

The next day I was directed to a gear technician that said the car needs a reset or calibration . He did it successfully by tapping two wires around the battery area and also drained the complete ibeto oil and put in 8 litters Ws oil.. the car worked perfectly after that but I noticed oil was leaking from the bottom plate two days later and I went back and they fixed it and car was working well again.

Now after driving the car for 3 days, the engine lifting up or shaking vigorously when I engage reverse or drive has started again. U can physically see the engine shaking heavily like the engine seating is not holding it up well when I open the bonnet. Also, when I went out today, it did some delayed reversing. Outside this, car drives smooth, doesn’t jerk but I hope this is not a serious issues.. I need advice like this.. I’m spending so much on it already.

The car is even for sale as I’m starting out in car sales.



Finally did a second scan since I didn’t snap the first one i did and the codes are;

p0741– torque converter clutch circuit performance or stuck off and,

P2757– torque converter clutch pressure control solenoid control circuit performance or stuck off.

Both are showing pending

First things first, how much did you buy the Toyota WS you used?

There are a lot of fake or China of that WS.

The original one sells for around 90k per 4 liters can. So you'd need 190k to buy two cans.

So if the one you bought cost lower than 90k per can, it's likely fake or China. And could babe contributed to your problems too.

The way you guage the transmission oil level in that car is different. You'll need to get the car to operating temperature, then remove the drain plug.

I remember I read on some foreign forums that adding some special oils to the transmission could fix it.

I clearly said I don't have intentions of traveling. And it's not really because of the money I'm able to save here. It's for other personal reasons by the way.

That said, why I made my comment is because 90% of the commenter are behaving as if 500k savings a month is such a huge amount.

And I'm just here to burst the bubble that it is not.

Because the person saving such an amount won't even be able to japa unless they save that consistently for close to 8 years. Which isn't realistic as inflation will take its toll on the money.

You think 500k a month is a lot of money because you don't have it yet. When you do, you'll realize it can barely go anywhere.

For context, someone saving 500k a month won't even be able to afford to japa. Because that'd be 6m in a year.

Unless you want to travel to Niger Republic, 6m can't take you anywhere.

I currently save 1.5m monthly. And while I don't really have intentions of traveling soon, I can assure you that even that 1.5m I save monthly doesn't do much for me. Because the naija economy is currently so messed up.

Japa is currently very expensive. If I want to move to the UK via masters, I'd need nothing less than 40m.

How long do you think I can save 1.5m monthly to reach that amount? Now compare it to someone saving just 500k per month. So that person can't even afford japa. Let him just continue living his life here. Or pursue scholarship opportunities if they really want to japa.

Na this cost of japa just make some of us remain here.

if the converter was a problem it will vibrate at all speed even revers would vibrate low or high. The vibration of a car at certain speed is called a death wobble you can google this .If I am right the OP will notice it stabilize once the speed exceed mayB 60.

You can also Google the torque converter shudder I talked about.

It's a very popular and unique problem with the 2012 to 2014 Toyota Camry, 2013 to 2015 RAV4.

It happens when the car is cruising at around 40mph to 45mph and goes away once the car gets past this speed or if the driver brakes.

It's also specific to the four cylinder versions of the car. The V6 doesn't have the problem.

Don't take my words for it. Google it.

Toyota even had to offer extended warranty because of it.

For users that their cars were still under warranty, Toyota replaced their torque converters and updated the firmware of their ecu to solve the problem.

The problem starts when the car is getting to 80k miles and above.

Get the highlander. But since you are concerned about fueling costs, you can get the four cylinder of the car.

Since the road in your area is not good, the Camry may be a bad option for you as it has low ground clearance.

But if you decide to get the Camry, avoid the four cylinder version. It has a factory error that makes the torque converter to shudder at a certain speed. You can go for the six cylinder.

If your cooling system is okay, with no leaks, your coolant shouldn't go down at all. And it should remain like that for years. Unless the system develops a leak.

As for your original question, I doubt your coolant is leaking. I'll explain what may likely be happening shortly.

If your coolant leaks, it will leave marks around the place it is leaking from. The marks will appear like white pinkish stuff.

Now, here's what may be happening. The cooling system of a car is a high pressure system.

So when you start your car, immense pressure builds up in the coming system. This causes the coolant in the radiator to expand and increase in volume.

When this happens, the radiator cap will open up and force the excess coolant into the reservoir through the hose that connects the radiator to the reservoir.

This is why if you stop driving mid way, open your radiator and look at the reservoir, you will always notice that the volume of the coolant in the reservoir has increased.

Now when you stop your engine and the engine cools down, the pressure in the radiator and cooling system as a whole drops. And this comes with an attendant contraction of the coolant.

This contraction of the coolant will create a vacuum effect in the radiator forcing it to suck back the coolant it pushed into the reservoir earlier.

So when you look at the reservoir when this has happened, you'd think the coolant is dropping.

But it's not technically dropping in the right sense of the word. Because when you start the engine again and it reaches operating temperature, the radiator will still push excess coolant back into the reservoir and the cycle will continue like that.

I hope this helps.
