Education / The Father Sees A Clean Room And A Made Bed. Seconds Later He Finds A Letter by GSGN: 9:40am On Mar 22, 2017
A father walks by his son’s room. He notices, with his parental instincts, that something must be wrong.

The room is spotless and even the bed is made. Several alarms go off at once, especially when he sees a letter on the pillow with the word “Dad” written on the envelope.
Expecting the worst, he opens the letter and begins reading it with trembling hands.

“Dear Dad,It is with great regret and sorrow that I am writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with mom and you. I’ve been finding real passion with Stacy, and she is so nice, but I knew you would not approve because of her piercings, tattoos, tight motorcycle clothes, and the fact she’s much older than I am.
But it’s not only the passion Dad; she’s pregnant.

Stacy said that we will be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods, and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children.

Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn’t really hurt anyone. We’ll be growing it for ourselves and trading it with other people in the commune — for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want.

In the meantime, we’ll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so that Stacy can get better. She sure deserves it.

Don’t worry, Dad. I’m 15, and I know how to take care of myself. Someday, I’m sure we’ll be back to visit, so you can get to know your many grandchildren.

Love,

JoshuaP.S.

Dad, none of the above is true. I’m over at Jason’s house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than the school report that’s on the kitchen table. Call when it’s safe for me to come home!” cheesy cheesy cheesy

Education / Palms Of 8 Year-old Maid Burnt By NECO Staff by GSGN: 10:41am On Feb 20, 2017
Some people are wicked sha!!!
A 35 year old staff of the National Examination Council, is being quizzed by the Niger state Child Right Protection Agency for burning with hot charcoal the palms of her eight- year old housemaid, accused of stealing meat from the pot.

The Director-General of the agency, Mrs Mariam Kolo, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Saturday, said the accused, identified as Grace Edeh is a staff of NECO). The married woman has three children of her own and is right now, breast-feeding one of them.

She said that the mother of three was arrested by the staff of the Minna branch of the National Human Rights Commission and later brought to the agency.
She said that a good samaritan had seen the girl’s burnt hands and scars on her thigh in the market and interrogated her. The maid led the woman to her boss’s house.

Mariam Kolo said that the matter was reported to the National Human Rights Commission, which transferred the case to Kolo’s agency.

Kolo said that the offence contravenes Section 26 of the Child’s Right Act and warned parents and guardians against maltreating children.

For now, the contrite Grace Edeh may get a slap on the wrist for the offence as she has begged Niger state Child Right Protection Agency for leniency. She pleaded she should be saved from being docked in the court as she is a nursing mother.

The agency has consequently ordered her to give medicare to her eight-year old victim of bestiality.

The eight year-old housemaid would attend the counselling unit of the agency in the next few weeks and would later be reunited with her biological parents.

Edeh had told the agency that she ill-treated the girl out of anger as she was fond of stealing meat from the pot of soup.

She said that the girl was also caught stealing meat from the neighbour’s kitchen. (NAN) cry cry cry

Education / WAEC Decries POOR PERFORMANCE Of Students In Nov/dec Result by GSGN: 12:37pm On Dec 19, 2016
The West African Examination Council (WAEC), has released the results of the November/December West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

However, the head of the examination body, Olu Adenipekun, on Friday revealed that, out of the 172,699 candidates that sat for the examinations, only 66,496 obtained five credits and above, including Mathematics and English Language.

“A total of 66,497 candidates, representing 38.50 per cent, obtained credits in five subjects and above, including English Language and Mathematics,” he said.

“The percentage of candidates that obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics in the WASSCE for private candidates in 2014 and 2015, was 29.37 per cent and 20.59 per cent respectively.
“Plans to conduct a second diet of the examination is already at an advanced stage of approval. It may be possible next year.”Adenipekun also stated that 1,210 out of the 172,699 candidates, still have their results being processed due to errors.

He said: “For the May/June examination, we work with schools and assist them to make sure that the biometric and bio data of the pupils are properly captured and uploaded.

“But with private candidates, they have to access our portal individually and upload their bio data. Some of the candidates, out of anxiety, will rush to answer the questions without writing their names and examination numbers.

“We will continue to educate the candidates such that the errors are reduced.”

Sports / French Court Rejects Benzema Request To Drop Sextape Case by GSGN: 11:36am On Dec 16, 2016
I thought this case has been settled.
A French court on Friday rejected a request from Real Madrid and France striker Karim Benzema to drop the investigation into alleged blackmail over a sextape featuring international teammate Mathieu Valbuena, a lawyer said.
“We are pretty astonished because the decision is to reject our requests for the investigation to be cancelled,” said Serge Money, who represents another suspect.
The case, which cost Benzema a place in France’s Euro 2016 squad on home soil, is now expected to go to trial next year.
The Versailles appeal court also asked the investigating magistrate to consider charging former Liverpool and Marseille striker Djibril Cisse.
Investigators suspect 28-year-old Benzema of acting as an intermediary between the presumed blackmailers — including one of his childhood friends — and Lyon midfielder Valbuena.
Benzema and three of the other suspects asked for the case against them to be dropped.
They say police used “dishonest” methods by posing as a friend of Valbuena’s in a telephone conversation with one of the accused.
The prosecution meanwhile says Cisse helped to push along the deception by informing Valbuena that “rumours” were circulating about the existence of the sextape.
The 35-year-old was arrested as part of the investigation in 2015 but was released without charge.
Cisse said in a TV interview at the time that he had only been arrested “so the investigators could hear my side of the story. I never swindled anyone — Mathieu is a friend”.
Benzema has been usurped as France’s star striker by Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, but national coach Didier Deschamps says he has not ruled out a return to the international fold for the Real forward.

Hi,can I apply for any of these scholarships before NYSC.... I'm due for service next yr and most scholarships I tried applying for gave a condition that applicants must have completed NYSC

There are some that does not need your NYSC certificate but you must have your transcript and original result ready before you apply. You can go to the schools website directly for full info. Also check out Memorial University in canada, their tuition is very reasonable and you still have time to apply.
Good luck

Education / Re: Please How Do I Help My Niece And Nephew by GSGN: 4:35pm On Aug 05, 2016
mizcyn:
I currently have my niece who is 9 yes old and starting secondary school next month and her brother who is 7 going to primary 3 next month on holiday with me. While playing with them in discovered they were not good in multiplication and decided to teach them, only to discover that their knowledge Base in mathematics is very poor.
My niece could not answer any questions from the common entrance past questions I gave her, she doesn't know how to solve long multiplication or division, word problems or even roman numerals. At best her level is primary 1. Cos addition in time and money are difficult. I have tried teaching her and discovered she forgets easily. You teach her something she gets it but forgets in an hour.
I have tried discussing with her parents but they don't seem to see it as an issue. They say she knows other subjects but it's only maths she doesn't. Well my interaction with her makes it difficult to believe because even her spellings and use of tenses are sometimes wrong. She comes 2nd position in a class of 8 but I noticed that she seems more comfortable in extracurricular activities like choreography. I'm worried the school which is private just seems to be passing them and not teaching. So house please how do I help then and how do I make their parents see things clearly and not think I'm bad mouthing their children?

She is not completely dull in real sense. What about helping and encouraging her in those extracurricular activities she's comfortable with? If she was by daughter, while i find a better school for her at http://goodschoolsguidenigeria.com/search/try_search/, I will work with her on the natural talents she displays.
