onegig: Hello... Press the windows key and the r key simultaneously. Next type dxdiag and press enter. Go to the sound tab and carry out the microsoft sound tests. And are you sure the speakers are well connected if it has an external speaker. Also confirm if its a laptop or a pc(desktop system) because most peeps interchange the two wrongly.

onegig: Go to my computer- right click on the white space-select properties- on the top right hand corner of your screen click on device manager- when it opens check under system sounds. Any device in the list with a big yellow question mark or arterick? If no, check if you didn't mute the sound. The sound can be found at ve bottom left corner of your screen.
