Romance / How Do I Solve This Bad Trait/habit Of Mine by GuiltyGear: 6:32pm On Apr 22
I just don’t know why
I always avoid social interactions. Is something wrong with me?
I’m going to my 4th year in university (meaning I have 3 years left) and I’m yet to get over this stupid personality trait of mine
I feel it has made me lose out of a lot and I mean a lot of opportunities for growth and experiences
How do I overcome this?
Like I said, I always avoid social interactions.
Whether it be a party, get together or something as simple as a hall meeting
I instantly don’t want to go. I don’t know where I got this from
Id rather stay indoors and read my books, or read manga/manhwas and play video games

I have met a lot of people who have tried to help me change but it all comes to nothing and they end up giving up

Honestly I don’t know what to do any more

I’m 21 years old and a male, in case this info is. Needed

A lot for things has happened in the time that has passed sha
But let's start with the latest one

So our third Incourse anatomy exam was just concluded about 2 weeks ago.
The scope of the test was the Abdomen, Thorax plus P&P
Those who have read gross anatomy will know that these three regions combined together are insanely bulky.
That and you never know where the exam questions are going to come from.
So I tried my best to prepare, even fell sick at a point
Exam day came, and we checked out the MCQs.
Negative marking!!!!
See as I start to sweat.
I finish MCQs in record time (cause the time no too day)
Theory land... This man went to set one very wicked question as compulsory question

Out of a slide of about 1100 pages, he set his questions from just one page (part of the most frustrating things about medicine. You read about the whole house and the lecturer will now ask you questions about the things inside the television lol)

Did the exam to the best of my ability... I left that hall with the impression that I'd already failed.
I was even praying for 50 because I didn't even know if I gave the lecturer what he was looking for.

Results came out and lo and behold! I had 72% grin
My mouth was open for like 5 mins. I was just rolling on the ground thanking my father in heaven.

Omo, na so that one take go o

What of biochemistry test, where I wrote 16 pages of essays and chemical diagrams and they gave me 59? sad
I just thank God I had more than 50

Biochemistry in this school is a horror story.

ASUU has struck again
Tbh, I'm not sure If I should use this period to gain more knowledge and skills pertaining my tech vocation or I should use it solely for studying.

I'm still reading, buh I feel I'm wasting my time.
It is well.

Wow
The textbooks are really expensive tho. Surprisingly, some of my coursemates have gone far in anatomy and physiology, though we're still in 100L.
You’ll be surprised bro
I have people who have done Biochem and physio as a course and are coming back to do MBBS
It’s not child’s play, medical school is very humbling

Thanks!... Can you recomend some solid textbooks that can help one prepare well?(sorry for the crapy questions but next year in going to be my second try and i want it to be my last)
Of course, no problem
The texts I used for each subject
1. English
I used the invisible teacher. It’s the best jamb English text out there and sitting with this book will make use of English very easy for you, both jamb and putme.
I read it 4 times, front to back. So it needs your time
2. Physics
I used All Inclusive Calculations in Physics, New School Physics, lamlads physics and lots and lots of PQ. For physics, chem and bio, PQs should be your bread and butter. Solve PQs everyday after studying.
I read all texts at least 4-5 times, front to back
3. Biology
I was using essential biology, but I had to change it to Modern Biology plus lamlads bio. The latter is your best bet, but if you combine both like I did, you’re good to go!
Went over both like 3-4 times. Repetition is very powerful whilst studying
4. Chemistry
This was the subject I had my highest score in (88). The secret to it is to Combine lamlads chemistry (for calculations) and Ababio (for the theoretical aspect). Lamlads will teach you how to calculate very well, but it’s lacking in terms of explanation. Ababio is the other way around. ThTs the golden combo that worked for me
Don’t forget your PQs too

100level is usually not difficult, but mbbs program requires finance
100% true
Which is why you have to let your parents know the path you’ve chosen from the moment you gain admission to the uni.
MBBS is an expensive path. A very expensive one. In both finance, time and resources. Even the textbooks alone cost an arm and leg hahahaha

But that’s where scholarships come in. Apply for scholarships like there is no tomorrow. And again, the 100L results will come in play here. Your 100L CGP has to be first class in order for you to have better chances of getting the scholarships.
It’s not rocket science exactly, but it’s a lot of work.
But as DeRock said, we’ll should put in work, and put in the hours to take what’s ours

PLS!!!! DON'T ABANDON THIS THREAD....

Also kindly tell us(if you want to) how you got in to keep some aspirants spirit high. wink
Well, how I got in…
I did jamb twice. My first score was 253. You can only imagine the heart break.
They gave me one course like this because of my low score in both jamb and putme (had 64 in putme)
I rejected the course, went back and hit harder. Also, I joined numerous brainstorming groups. Information is power. You’ll get to hear familiar terms from the mouths of those using different texts.
Also, you’ll get to know your weaknesses and how much you don’t know.

There is no magic formula to it honestly. Just put in smart work, grit and prayers (100% important)

Second jamb score was 324, putme score was 80. So I couldn’t be denied MBBS

Will get my textbooks tomorrow. Saw the size of Keith Moore and I was just speechless hahaha
Modern Biology and Ababio gat nothing on this one grin

Medical texts are just crazy expensive, Keith Moore is like 20k, Guyton and Hall is around 13k.
God help us. You buy these textbooks, you guard them with your life grin

But again, there’s the option of softcopy which is free and avaliable.

The thing is, softcopy isn’t my style at all. And the basics of medical school is finding what works for you. Only hard copy does it for me. That’s how I just work.
You could be different tho. I know of seniors who haven’t bought a single medical hardcopy text and are spanking their courses like no tomorrow….

I also have to leave this school for home. Xmas don come. Enough of this hostel environment . Have to get home and start thinking of how my next 6-7 years (depending on how ASUU is feeling) is going to be like.

The break between 100L and your preclinical is a very important part of your quest.

God help me

Just rounded up my 100L. Pretty basic stuffs. Compared to what’s ahead it’s child’s play lol

Had distinctions in all my results so far, apart from English, but again it’s all useless in this coming preclinical stuffs

We all start with clean slates, everyone is equal. No matter how good or bad your 100L results are. In this school, it hardly matters.
That doesn’t mean you should let up your 100L performance tho. It helps to build confidence. You’ll need it.

The journey begins
