Politics / Re: Lagos Targets Churches, Mosques In 2012 Tax Drive by Guru4Life: 2:50pm On Dec 23, 2011
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I know that in the Uk (and most likely the US), religious bodies pay tax BUT since the money comes from offerings and tithes payed by members who have ALREADY been taxed, you get something similar to a TAX REBATE where you fill a form for any offering you give in church.

This helps the government to know how much comes into the church and thereby taxing them appropriately.

The members who give these offerings in turn get a tax rebate (don't know when though) but I have seen the form myself (no be dem say dem say).

There is already TOO MUCH MULTIPLE taxation in this country, why impose another form of it? Government should not be about taking and collecting from the people without any giving back in the form of social amenities, developmental programmes, security and general good quality of life.
Politics / Re: Cattle Dealers On Strike Starting Monday by Guru4Life: 6:55am On Mar 13, 2010
Like others have said on this topic, I think this problem affects more than just cattle dealers and farm produce merchants from the north, as in the example of Bakassi boys collecting "Levies" in the east, agberos and area boys collecting their own levies too in Lagos. Police collect their own "toll fees" from all Okadas and danfos. Local govt collects taxes and levies, State collects Income tax, Federal collects VAT, etc, etc. The Nigerian state is not ready to become "civilised" (if u like put z instead of s).

Now back to the main arguement, these Cattle dealers et al must really be unserious (if there is a word like that). They say they will not supply the south with their products until something is done about the situation. This is their own source of livelihood and this propblem did not start today. It will only make us southerners pay more for the produce. If cost of production goes up, so does selling price. This is a good way of making a statement, but I do not think the matter will be solved like dat.

Eventually, the cost of chicken, fish and eggs will go up (if they have not done so already) here in the south because we must chop protein. If fuel price goes up, we pay more for food; if cattle dealers strike we pay more for food. Maybe this is a good investment opportunity for those in the south to become self-sufficient when it comes to agricultural produce.

I'm sure OBJ Farms will make more money because of this.
Fashion / Re: High Maintenance: Does It Get You More Dates? by Guru4Life: 1:00pm On Sep 11, 2009
I tot the topic was about getting dates or not getting dates

Like someone must have said before, I think like attracts like (most times) and some guys prefer these 'high maintenance' babes (and vice versa).
