Hello Everyone, I've been a silent reader of this section, fortunately, i got an offer this year to pursue an Associate degree in Nursing, which I took hoping my case would be different. So I had my Visa interview today at Abuja Embassy but I was only delayed at the moment. Kindly, find below my transcript for your scrutiny and comments. I was asked just 4 questions (out of the 32 questions I'd initially prepared, lol) by a very tall white guy; VO: Have you travelled out before? ME: No, I haven't had a reason to, prior to this time. VO: I can see you're going for an Associate degree in Nursing from NHCC, what's your first degree? ME: BSc in Microbiology from the University of Port Harcourt. VO: Why are you going for this course? ME: I developed a passion for nursing during the course of my work experiences in healthcare facilities and the nature of my 1st degree course where I got to work closely with medical practitioners most especially with nurses, I got to encounter the various aspect of patient care and the tenacities of these nurses to provide excellent healthcare to the patients always drew my admiration, this ignited my passion to pursue a nursing degree. VO:What do you intend to do after graduation? ME: After graduation, I intend to utilize the Optional Practical Training for a period of 3 to 4months in order to have more clinical experiences which will be leveraged on upon my return to Nigeria and upon my return, this degree will enable me be reabsorbed as a full time staff at my current place of work in the capacity of a licensed nurse (I currently work as a Volunteer Healthcare Assistant in a hospital); I have a written agreement with the hospital management to this effect. I hope to influence the health practice at my work place to a global standard with the clinical knowledge and expertise gained. Then I also talked about partnering with NGOs such as WHO and SFH in order to volunteer my services for the provision of affordable and accessible healthcare services to some remote communities in my state. Please, is it advisable to reapply or I should secure an MSc admission related to my 1st degree because I know that my No.2 question was a redflag. I sincerely do not feel bad nor disappointed reasons being that I know by God's grace, I will get my Visa soon. My fellow nairalanders, kindly advise me on the next step to take. Thanks. |
