Grand Theft Auto V has contributed a lot to the UK economy as the game has sold over 6 million copies. This number is even more impressive as digital sales are not included.
This impressive feat was announced via a press release as 6 million boxed copies of Grand Theft Auto V have been sold in the country. It has become the “ fastest and biggest selling entertainment product of all time” and has contributed more to the British economy than any other video game in UK history.
In terms of currency value, over £240 million was earned by the game since it came out in September 2013. To put this into perspective, the entire boxed video game market was worth £904 million in 2015.
Some world records that belong to the game include: ‘Bestselling video game in 24 hours’, ‘Highest revenue generated by an entertainment product in 24 hours’ and ‘fastest entertainment property to gross $1bn’.

Square Enix has announced it will be holding a 30th Anniversary event for the Final Fantasy franchise next month. Some exciting announcements are expected to be made.

Persona Series Nearing 7 Million Units Sold Worldwide

SEGA has now released their latest financial reports, and in
them it is revealed that the series has now sold 6.9 million
units worldwide. This is compared to Atlus’ Megami Tensei
and Etrian Odyssey series, which have now sold 7.2 million
units and 1.5 million units worldwide, respectively. This puts
the Persona sales numbers into perspective and makes
them even more impressive, as the Megami Tensei series
has been around for 10 years longer than Persona.

Elsewhere in the financial report we see more of the sales
numbers for SEGA’s in-house IPs, and Sonic is of course the
leader of the pack with approximately 350 million units sold
worldwide. That series will hopefully have a rebirth next
year, with the 2D Sonic Mania and the still-untitled 3D Sonic
game both set to get the series back on track in 2017.

The developer revealed that it will launch next week, and you’ll be able to access new game plus mode as soon as you have completed the game. The mode will allow the player to combine Emily and Corvo’s abilities to create custom combos. When the mode starts you will have access to all of each character’s abilities, as well as all the Bonecharm Traits and Runes collected from the previous playthrough.
