Nope. I did exactly as I was instructed busybodie: One the day of your interview, did you take any additional documents with you apart from the ones you submitted online, like work-related documents or anything similar? If yes, which ones? |

It took exactly 3 weeks Sid57: Aren't you so blessed to have landed a job so fast?! Big congrats!!!!! You give us hope. Thanks for the details. Wondering how long exactly it took between your interview and getting your visa? |

foonshur: Wow, getting hired from your first interview. Congratulations!!!. Is switching to a blue card a requirement for the job, or this is just a strategic move from you? For your question, this is where Hannania would have been most helpful. And also, switching from Dr Walter to TK, how smooth is it, and any financial requirements? I'm also on Dr Walter's insurance. Then lastly, since you said you used SL, I'm guessing your sponsor helped with your accommodation then? Glad to see you are doing well, pls don't forget to find time to come give us tips on surviving there. Are you taking any language classes or you don be expert already? . Wishing you the best once again. Thanks. Switching to the blue card is a requirement for a full time job as the opportunity card only allows you work for 20hr/week. Switching to TK has been straightforward so far. I'm just waiting to get my health card so I can cancel my DR Walter's insurance. My sponsor obviously had to declare he had enough space in his house for me to stay but i also got my own place and registered my anmeldung in that place. Depends on what you want. I haven't started taking any classes yet but I'll start as soon I'm settled into work. |

foonshur: Hey, howdy? How have you been? Glad to see you've not forgotten us here. So, how has Germany been treating you? You've not really given us your landing gist. Not that you owe us one, it will just help "us" (yet to come) prepare for what we about to face when we finally arrive. Your first 1 week, getting your phone number, activating your blocked account, accommodation, etc. And above all, how's the work search? Anything that you feel might help us settle quicker. Wishing you luck tho. Hey Hey. I've been okay. So the first thing I did was to find my way to the city center and got a number with telekom and paid for a prepaid subscription. I then proceeded to open a Revolut bank account. I looked for appointment dates to register my anmeldung and couldn't find one close to me so I booked an appointment in another district. Went for the appointment and got my anmeldung in under 10 minutes. I recently got a job and realized that the DR Walter's health insurance does not provide you with an SVNR(social security number) so I had to register with a public health insurance(registered with TK) and government office sent me my SVNR. I currently need to switch from the opportunity visa to a Blue card so I'm running around looking for an appointment before my start date which is next week. Anyone who can help should please reach out. I did not use a blocked account so I can't help with that. As for accommodation, I had it all sorted out before I even got to Germany. The landlord has to put your name plate on your mailbox so you can get letters like your tax id, SVNR, insurance number, insurance card, deliveries, e.t.c As for my job search, I was fortunate to get a job with the first company I interviewed with. I'm an iOS developer so the interview was first a HR interview, a 90 minutes live coding session and "meet the team". I got a job in 6 weeks of being here. If I could do it, you can as well. Let me know if you're curious about anything else |

Danke! wazobeer: Yes you can! Go ahead and buy your ticket. KLM is a Dutch Airline and Amsterdam is in the Netherlands, which is a Schengen member country. You don't need anything else. Your stop over would likely be at Schiphol Airport, from there, you join your connecting flight.
Safe trip! |

Hi Hannania, Can I use KLM flight to go to Berlin? There's a 4h layover in Amsterdam. Do i need any type of visa to pass through Amsterdam? Hannania: With an affidavit and Declaration of age, you'll get an attestation from NPC |

I got the visa guys. Thanks for all the help. What do you mean by legalization? Also, is there a certified website i can take german classes? Is there anyone(preferably) female moving to Germany in August and want to get a place together? Haliimmaa: Hello Hannania. I went for my appointment on the 28th of May as I mentioned earlier but have not gotten a reply from the embassy. The only way I've been able to track is through the DHL package and it has not moved. It's been almost 4 weeks. Do you by any chance know what's happening and why it's taking so much time? I also met someone at the embassy on the same day and she also hasn't gotten a response. |

For legalization, you can work up to any lawyer that has been certified to be a notary public(Meaning he/she has a notorized stamp). They'll autenticate your credentials. Please avoid third parties. Make sure you meet the lawyer yourself. |

The physical appointment did not go bad. Only downside is that I had to wait 6 hours before my interview so I was very very exhausted and had a hard time going through the interview. Regardless I think it went well. - Go with all your original documents according to the list that will be provided after the preliminary review. - Make sure you take a passport according to the german visa passport requirements. - You can pay for the visa by cash or card(via a pos there). If you're paying cash, make sure that its in denominations of 500 and 1000 naira notes. Other denominations will be rejected. It's safer to go with a card. - You wont be allowed in with your bag so just come with the file containing your documents. Your phone will also be turned off and put in a locker so be mentally prepared. - Be ready to walk them through your work experience. Again, make sure all your documents are complete and are original copies. When i got to the end of my waiting period, I was indeed asked to submit for preliminary review but I'm not sure if i was able to edit before submission. I think its safer to leave the application as is because while in preliminary review, you'll get emails if they need you to change a document or correct something in which case you'll have the opportunity to make corrections. Good luck guys and wish me luck. Also, take a prepaid envelope with you as that is what they'll use to send your documents and passport back to you. You can get one at a DHL outlet. Just tell them what you want to do and you'll be given a form to fill. Please call to confirm which outlet gives out those envelopes as not all of them do. ZiggyZiggy: Hello Haliimmaa, how did your physical appointment go? Would appreciate if you could share any tips or details that might help us prepare better.
I also want to ask, when you got to the end of your waiting period, were you asked to submit for preliminary review (and were you able to edit your application before submission), or did you automatically receive the feedback from the preliminary review at that point? |

I'm not sure I understand this. In my application on the portal, I out my travel date on April 30th hoping I'd get a visa before then. When my visa is approved, will the date be adjusted or will they put my travel date as April 30th? Hannania: The date does not start counting when you enter Germany. The validity date will be stated on your ticket. It will be exactly 1 year. So if you're approved and decide to wait in Nigeria, just know what's on your passport is the decider.
So chose carefully the date you wanna travel |

Is there a reason why? Also, will i be refunded? Hannania: Search for Dr Walter's and use one of the providers. When you get to Germany, please cancel it and join a public insurance if you are below 30. You can read about insurance in Germany to know why |

My school and course is already recognized on Anabin. Thanks Ziggy. Combining the files worked. santaclaws: Do as Ziggy said, combine the academic transcripts and your certificates in a single document.
By the way, did you do ZAB evaluation or is your school and course already recognized on Anabin? |

Hey guys, I'm currently going through the preliminary review and they keep asking for transcript. I had first submitted a student copy and they asked for my certificate which I submitted. Now, they're asking for academic transcript. Please what exact document are they looking for?
