That engine is between 900,000 and 1,000,000 naira in Lagos last time I checked.

Please try to compare the cost of getting same engine from the states/fixing in the states versus doing the same from Lagos assuming that is the reason for its non-drivable state.

MODIFIED:

I can link you up to a junkyard that I have patronized in the past.

I have not asked them how much they sell the engine but with online prices starting at $800 (or N 292,200.00) to $1,500 ( N 574,500.00) excluding installation costs, I think this is certainly an option worth researching.

There also exists the issue that you maybe getting an engine with pedigree that is almost impossible to do here, since they keep records like the VIN of the donor, the mileage when it was taken out to mention but a few.
did i tell you the engine is not working? being non drivable does not mean the engine is down. it could be due to battery or kick starter or the rear impact that affected the tyres's movement.

she already bought the SUV and I guess she already made up her mind on it. she wants the vehicle here.

my advice, take the mistake as a blessing in disguise. damning all expenses incurred, go ahead with sourcing the parts from the junk yard as advised.

don't look at the cost any longer, just get the vehicle fixed. you may strike a good bargain on it afterwards. good luck!
thanks for your word of encouragement. where is junk yard?

I checked it on Auction Export.
yes boss. You are right. But that price excludes shipping and fees.
I pray there is nothing wrong with the engine.
Car TalkRe: I Mistakenly Bought A Non-drivable Car by halima83(op): 11:24am On Sep 27, 2017
AutoJoshNG:
If you don't want the car again, they will charge you the $400 or 10% of the value of the car which you deposited before the purchase. This amount might vary depending on the original seller auctionexport is getting the vehicle from.

If you are buying it as a non-drivable car, the shipper can book it as a non-runner and you will be charged a $200 fee for that.

The full import duty on the 2009 Ford Edge is N1.3m but you can also talk to your clearing agent to get a compromised duty from Nigeria Customs.. You may end up paying N1m or N1.1m for import duty. Make sure they don't do short-payment because the vehicle may get seized eventually.

@Lexusgs430 has listed most of the parts you'll need to buy.. You can get the estimated price at Ford Parts market around Clegg Street, Ojuelegba if you are in Lagos.

If you are buying the parts from USA, do the junk yard. Don't go buying new parts from the dealership except for the parts you can't find out there. The reason is, that vehicle has several little bit of components.. which you have to buy one by one if you are buying the new part.

The price you got that vehicle is a giveaway.. note that you may also have issues with the rear wheel/suspension especially on the driver's side (it's bent).. the vehicle also has a leaking roof problem.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH AUTOJOSNG for this. But how did you know the price I got the car for? just curious

Add 1.3 + cost of repair + cost of purchase + loss of value, against cost of undamaged version in Lagos...

Take a holistic view and weigh your options.....
which one is loss of value

Toyota or Ford, the auctions hammer landed on her account......

This damsel is in distress and can be forgiven for mixing brands up.....

When panic sets in, we could easily call an Audi, a volkswagen........
on top of that the clearing agent in lagos gave me a clearing cost of 1.3million.

FLAKARIBE:
(1)Can be returned to auction, but you will definitely be fined. Your account can be terminated at most.
(2)if you are boxed up, you can buy a drivable small truck in addition that can haulage the car at the back, ship all and clear all. More expensive that way, but you can now sell the truck.
Good luck
yea, I have bought the small towing truck too.

I mistakenly bought a non-drivable car toyota corolla with rear accident from one of the auction sites in the US. and I can't cancel it.
After I clicked on buy now option I got an email from the site that my car is a none drivable. chaiii

I went back to the site and confirmed as that.

I am yet to make full payment though.

Those with experience with buying the non-drivable cars what is your take on this?

What were the issues with these types of cars?

Hi members,

My husband who we are married for six years is 37 years old urinated heavily on our matrimonial bed while sleeping three days ago. I just woke up in the midnight and accidently touch the place and felt wet. And by then he has woken up and moved to the sitting room. He felt disappointed and told me the last time he urinated while aslept was 26 years ago.

What went wrong?

FamilyDoes ultrasound scan gives 100% result on foetus(baby's) sex? by halima83(op):
I had an OBS Ultrascan yesterday and the Doc. told me it is a girl. I am 25 weeks into the pregnancy.

This will be my third child and third daughter if I finally deliver safely by the special grace of God in coming weeks.

I was really expecting a boy this time around.

Though the Doctor told me there is a chance it could still be a boy, because atimes scan results to determine baby's sex can be misleading.

How through is this his assertion?

I want to buy this Nissan Almera but is mostly used by taxi men in Abuja here.

Though the one i want to buy is with two door.

Please advise, is it ok as a lady to drive the car because I dont want a situation where people will be stopping me on the road thinking it is a taxi.
