MANIPULATION OF THE OUTCOME OF IFA ORACLE BY MEMBERS OF ONIWONLU COMMITEE

The next Onibeju of Ibeju-Agbe will, no doubt emerge according to the dictates of the Ifa oracle. In Yorubaland, divination gives priests unreserved access to the teachings of Orunmila. Though, the respective ruling house (Oniwonlu ruling house) have indicated interest in occupying the throne as prospective candidates are not resting on their oars to emerge the next Onibeju if Ibeju land.

The kingmakers, have over time, been guided in the process of selecting the Onibeju of Ibeju-Land in the past. 

Guided by Ifa, the king-makers in Ibeju-Land are expected not to go against the dictates of the divinity. The Ifá divination rites provide an avenue of communication to the spiritual realm and often times, the king-makers consult Ifa before it makes any pronouncement on who occupies the Onibeju throne.

Failure by the king-makers to consult with Ifa often results in the untimely death of the occupant of the throne. Remarkably, Ifá is practised throughout the Americas, West Africa, and the Canary Islands, Azores, and Madeira, in the form of a complex religious system, and plays a critical role in the traditions of Santería, Candomblé, Palo, Umbanda, Vodoo, and other Afro-American faiths, as well as in some traditional African religions.

The exit of Oba Rafiu Bamidele Oluwasegun Salami ( May his soul rest in perfect peace) as Onibeju of Ibeju Land has created a vacuum which would be filled by a worthy successor. The late Onibeju emerged the 19th Onibeju of Ibeju-Land ruled the ancient city of Ibeju-Kingdom for about 13 good years.

Accordingly to the video clip captured below and information gathered from the Oko Ifa for the consultation, is that the IFA Oracle did not pick among the (3) people selected by the incapacitated committee members at the Oko Ifa.

The Oniwonlu committee members who bypass the kingmakers to Oko Ifa for their self interest, crooked IFA consultation have betrayed the whole Oniwonlu family by failure to give the full details of IFA consultations on the outcomes of each of the aspirant ( ODU IFA)

It is very unfortunate that some members of Oniwonlu committee are betrayers to IBEJU AGBE. In order word, they meant no good for the development of our heritage land. I also wonder how they find there way into our intelligent committee, it's apparently obvious that we do not need traitors, thief's, liars, greedy fellow and lackadaisical lazy human being in our midst nor committee.

Meanwhile, one of the Oniwonlu committee members made a pronouncement in the video clip below (name withheld) that It was only those are the agreed three (3) names they have selected to check despite the fact that there were (19) prospective candidates , which implies that other (16) Aspirant were not checked at oko IFA for consultation.

In addition, the Ifa oracle would be consulted on the choice before the final ratification by the KINGMAKERS. Before now, the Oniwonlu Committee were advised to guard against manipulating the emergence of the next Onibeju of Ibeju-Land 

Only the below names of aspirants were checked at OKO IFA according to the video clip below. ( selected candidates) They are;
 (1) Adewale Oniwonlu
 (2) Ajumobi Idris 
 (3) Muyiwa Oniwonlu

I am pleading with the government at all levels to checkmate and ask Oniwonlu Committee members, What actually happened to the rest of 16 aspirants that were not check for IFA consultation?

Does it means they were not qualified to be checked at OKO IFA after family consideration for interview and collecting the application charges from each of them?

Moreso, if there's anyone with a contrary information on the above, should please present the audio/Video visual clip as evidence like the above, where the remaining (16) prospective candidates for the Onibeju stool are being presented for IFA consultation

The Oniwonlu committee members are yet to address, submits and give us the detail report of their findings at OKO IFA till this moment. We are also interested on how the three names (Adewale,Idris and Muyiwa) sent to the kingmakers emerged as the video above shows they were not picked by IFA Oracle.  

But interestingly, the likely successor will emerge soonest after the king-makers, chieftainship and Lagos State Government must have carry out their preliminary investigation/ intervention, the process to the stool of ONIBEJU STOOL must be check mate without any further manipulation and delay.

I appeal to the government at all levels to give the much-needed support to the STOOL OF ONIBEJU, with a view to enhancing harmony, peace and stability in Ibeju-Land, Lagos and the country as a whole..

Obaship tussles in Yoruba lands has always been enmeshed in controversies and manipulation which the vacant stool of Oba Onibeju is not an exception.

There are 3 ruling house in ibeju Lekki kingdom namely Abejoye,Oniwonlu and Aladeseso.Oba Musa Agabiaka the 18th Onibeju of ibeju Lekki was from Abejoye Ruling house. He ruled from 1969- 2007.The last Onibeju, Oba rafiu Salami from Aladeseso ruled from 2007- 2020.The next ruling house to produce the next Onibeju is Oniwonlu ruling house.

The major controversy now is a particular section of Oniwonlu ruling house wants to continue producing an Oba anytime its the turn of Oniwonlu ruling house to produce an Oba.

The 8th Onibeju and the 1st from Oniwonlu ruling house was Oba Oyemade Ogidigan.He ruled in 1720.He founded Arararomi Tope village in Elerangbe axis of ibeju. He was followed by Oba Lumoye his younger brother the 9th Onibeju of ibeju.

Subsequently, Oyemade son ,Badeusa who was left to head Araromi - Tope village when his father Oyemade was called to become king. He became the 11th Onibeju followed by Oba Ogunfayo(13th Onibeju and brother to Oba Badeusa), Oba Adesalu Ayinuara (15th Onibeju ), and lastly Oba Gbadamosi Anisere (17th Onibeju son of Oba Ogunfayo ).

The Head of Oniwonlu ruling house family produced 6 aspirants for this vacant stool. The intention is to retain the Obaship control anytime its the turn of Oniwonlu ruling house to produce an oba despite producing the 15th Oba Onibeju (Oba Adesalu Ayinuara).

During the last stage of producing the next oba they only took 3 names to the Oracle neglecting the rest aspirants. The initial plan was for each aspirants to provide a representative each that will follow them to consult the Oracle for transparency which was reneged.

They later presented Prince Adewale oniwonlu (Ist born of the head of Oniwonlu ruling house ), Prince Muyiwa oniwonlu (Son of the elder brother of the head of oniwonlu ruling house )and Prince lateef Ajumobi Oniwonlu (Son of the younger brother of the head of oniwonlu ruling house ) to the kingmakers.

They couldn't call for a meeting of the family to give feedback to the aspirants because of the manipulations.Due to the fact they manipulated the Oracle consultation, the Kingmakers rejected the 3 names presented to them because they are all from the same family and didn't follow due process of selecting an Onibeju.

The head of the kingmakers, Chief Aro of iberekodo who also has a candidate he is supporting who is the grandson of the late Ogbeni Odi of ibeju Lekki. The late Ogbeni odi was the father of the mother of the candidate (Rasak waliu Oguntolu ). The late Ogbeni odi was like a mentor to Chief Aro and he was more inclined to support Rasak waliu Oguntolu ambition.

Pertinent to note that the fore father's of Rasak Oguntolu was a friend to late Oba Adesalu Ayinuara who made him a chief. He was given the title Iwajoba of ibeju and given land in Arapagi to reside.He was never a son or related to Oyemade Ogidigan.

Chief Aro presented Rasak oguntolu to his other kingmakers after money had exchanged hands and conducted a kangaroo selection for him.

Subsequently, the Committee too rejected the choice of Rasak Oguntolu on the basis that his family is not related to Oniwonlu ruling house.

Obaship in Lagos state has been turned to politics where unqualified aspirants who are mostly illiterate and depend on sales of lands are desperate and ready to bribe anybody to get to the throne.

They have no clear objectives on what they are bringing on board. when they ascend the throne. Their major boost is that they get financial support from the real estate companies they are having business deals with.

Their major aim of aspiration is to sell lands ,acquire wealth and marry more wives.

Currently, there is no way forward on the next Onibeju stool until the State Government intervene. Ibeju Lekki is the new face of Lagos and deserves an educated and articulate leader who will impact positively in the lives of the indigenes and manage the resources and maintain the heritage and culture of ibeju Lekki efficiently.
