It depends on you. Pros of relocating- constant electricity, stable government, change of environment, better pay*. Cons without paper: menial jobs, job dissatisfaction, living in fear till your papers come out, career change ( might be what you never imagined), betrayal from everyone who knows you need paper, living a below average life than you were living here (for a while though if you are hard working), uncertainties etc. Just decide for yourself. Remember you never know until you try it. One thing is for sure, if you work hard and keep pushing, America will pay off. As long as you don't listen to the little minded people you meet everywhere telling you all sorts of stories that are untrue and limit you. whatever your decision, be ready to stick with the outcome. I'm not an advocate of illegal immigration tho esp when you have something going here. The ball is in your court. |

Matrix07:South Africa doesn't employ doctors from other African countries based on a somewhat signed treaty. However, most people I know who got jobs there had to become citizens first. You definitely know how they get it. If you get it, you can apply for registration, after which you can get locum jobs. There's the hpcsa exam which you need to pass. I must tell you that getting a residency outside of family medicine is a Herculean task. Pay is good. South African pathway generally depends on your nationality. The pathway for western doctors is different. So check the hpcsa website for more details. |
nnanyel: nnanyel:The usmle has 3 steps, 1,2ck,2cs and 3. To get into residency you need to pass 1 and 2. You can write 3 while in residency. Two processes are involved. Getting the materials and registering for the exam. Step 1 covers basic sciences, pathology, psychiatry. For the step 1, most imgs use kaplan to form a solid foundation then proceed to the UFAP method close to the exam. However, if your basics is good or you are pressed for time, kaplan notes and videos can be time consuming(up to 3 months). There's the so called UFAP method more popular with us graduates. It stands for uworld, first aid and pathoma. Some imgs have done it this way and have scored high but it means you have to know these materials front to back. U world is a question bank with over 2000 questions. U world is bought online, a 3 months subscription cost about 219$, pathoma is about 100$ From the pathoma website which includes the book and video( this book is indispensable). First aid 2016 could be gotten for 30$ upwards and kaplan notes about 7 books would cost about $110 for new or used ones from amazon. Consider shipping to Nigeria. I don't know what the cost to Nigeria is. People study for varied periods 4-6 months, some even a year. I nor fit do pass 4 months. The most important thing is reading the right materials. Some people read OP materials. Then there's an assessment exam online that kind of predicts your score, called nbme. It resembles the main exam and if you score high it most likely means you would do same in the main exam. If you score low, it means you need to read more. The exam registration is explained on the ecfmg website. You pay 65$ for the certification, which could be compared to "acceptance" fee. The main exam is 880$ For step 1 only. you pay an extra surcharge of 150$ if you are writing outside the USA. It is after paying that you get a form called form 186 which you take to your school for signing. Your school would then send these documents to ecfmg, Bla Bla Bla. You would understand the process better on their site. This is just a summarized guide. I hope it helps. Join the usmle forums and search for any info and even study partners. |
elmisti:Thanks. I am definitely not going back on my decision cause I know how much has been spent. I talked to the lgi who said because of the thumbprint thing it will be difficult as the clearance goes straight to Abuja. Anyway if it doesn't work out, I will just keep my fingers crossed. I would still welcome ideas or ways other people have done this in this biometric era. |
Pls I need some advice. I am presently serving in Lagos, however, I have a course to attend for 3 months outside d country. All fees paid. My problem now is this biometrics clearance. What do I do? Does somebody know a way around it? Pls I need your sincere help. |
Good morning all. Please a mini flat is needed around lekki axis, at least before vgc. Budget is 400k. If available pls respond or call 07032903053. Thank you. |
hayqinsbFX:The clearance in the state coordinator's office is done on the computer so once you are cleared, the print icon will appear when you open your profile. That former message would have disappeared. So u pay and print |
hayqinsbFX:You go to your lg secretariat, from there they will give you a clearance form, take it to your ppa, your ppa will clear you, take the form back to your lgi or zi to sign. After that take the form to your state secretariat, they will clear you at the state coordinator's office and sign cleared on that form. You go and print, you pay 1015 naira online via debit card. After which you print. Take the printed document and photocopy to redeployment office at the same secretariat. They will do some documentation and give you some papers to take to your new state. Remember to make one or two photocopies of the relocation letter. |
omidan21:You can book an appointment now for feb or march since registry is in jan. It is also good you plan ahead of time. Registry is also wedding. you have to pay attention when filling your forms so you don't contradict yourself. Also your plans have to be specific, google nd find out where people go for honeymoon in usa so it immediately clicks and they don't start wondering why you chose that destination |
I am a silent reader of this thread but want to share my transcript. I prayed to God that I shouldn't be asked a question that would make me lie or complicate issues for me. Thanks to everyone who shared their story. My interview was 10am today in Lagos. There was a black american lady who was just dishing out the blue form, I was just praying not to meet her, the white lady beside her was approving as long as you answer well, I prayed for her to be my interviewer and so it was. VO: where are you going to in the usa Me: to see my brother in texas VO: Have you travelled outside the country before? Me: yes, italy and south Africa Vo: Are you married? Me: Single, getting married next year( I nor even get fiance but avoid answering questions with yes/no without a statement) Vo:How long are you spending? Me:3 weeks Vo: what are you doing presently Me:I am a medical doctor Vo: your visa is approved, pick it up in bla bla. Note: confidence, maintain what You wrote on your ds160, my salary is less than 100k cos I am serving. The passport i submitted had no visa stamp, it was new. All my visa stamps were in the old passport. No documents asked. Say as little as possible, some people say more than necessary. I had been refused before when i was a student. For students, I noticed some didnt do research. Above all God's favour. |
Raylight2:There are buses that go to isseluku, like muyi line or enter any bus going to asaba. They will drop you at isseluku. |
My own advice for all those coming to isseluku from all over the country. You can take a bus going to Benin or asaba whichever is closer from your departure state or whichever you find. When you get to Benin or asaba or in the vehicle, tell the driver you are going to isseluku, they will direct you to the park where you can get a vehicle going to isseluku or they would tell you if they would pass isseluku. From there take a vehicle to isseluku, they know where to drop you. From the junction, it is 200 to camp. If you are coming from Lagos, take a bus going to asaba, isseluku is before asaba so they will drop you there. Even some vehicles going to Onitsha pass through Isseluku depending on whichever you see. So your route could be : Abeokuta to Benin to isseluku to camp Or Jos to Benin/asaba to isseluku to camp. I hope this helps |

......try nd av straight talk with ur LI or ZI...but surely, a very well arranged hospital report when returning should solve it......but then, patapata ur punishment will be three month extension, so the ultimate question is, will it be worth it?.......my OWN opinion is ultimately YES! Don't let is baseless nysc take chances away from you! #jstmy2kobo
