How can he say with certainty that Kemi's parents didn't fall through hard times simply because her father was a medical doctor and a professor? I thought Akinyemi should know better.

The only way he could make such a statement with certainty is if he has access to the father's financial statements, dealings including their assets and expenditures covering the period in question.

Otherwise his best statement could have been that he "finds it highly unlikely that that happened to her family given the father's position." That is how a learned person whom I am sure has published academic papers, done research and understood the importance of facts deal with anecdotal information before the facts are presented.
