The owner of Bovina Hotel, a popular hotel in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, Chief Ifeanyi Okoya has been kidnapped.
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Samuel Okaula confirmed the abduction in an interview with our correspondent in Ilorin on Tuesday.

He stated that the victim was abducted on Monday evening along Taiwo Road in Ilorin, adding that the police got the information late after he had been kidnapped.
He said the police had activated mechanism to free the hostage unhurt, adding that the command had already arrested three suspects in connection with the abduction.

A former elementary school principal awaiting trial on charges of raping possibly dozens of pupils has hanged himself in a prison in central France, sources close to the case said Tuesday.

Romain Farina, the 46-year-old former head of a school in Villefontaine near Lyon, was charged about a year ago, with testimony against him concerning around 60 children in various schools where he had worked.

Video clips found at his home supported claims that he blindfolded students and placed his penis in their mouths for them to “guess” what it was in a game he called the “taste workshop”.

Under French law, the offence of rape covers any act of penetration.

In June 2008, a court convicted Farina of downloading paedophile pornography and gave him a suspended six-month sentence and an order to seek psychiatric help for two years.

The court’s failure to bar him from future contact with children sparked a scandal, and prompted the education and justice ministries to improve communication on cases involving sexual predators.

In what has got more people talking, the official announcement of the death of former Bayelsa State governor, DSP Alamieyeseigha left out a crucial ceremony, lying-in-state, as announced by the state government.

This has heated up discussion in some quarters on social media that the late governor may not have died since his body would not be available for public viewing as expected during the lying-in-state.

There are however reports that his lying-in-state will be for just his family members and close associates.

The wedding ceremony taking place at Takoradi Aldersgate Methodist Church in the Sekondi/Anaji, Ghana on Saturday, April 2, 2016 was cut short after policemen stormed the church's premises and arrested the bridegroom, Aaron Ackah, over suspected armed robbery.

According to Star FM Online, the arrest is in connection with a robbery case at Aniamote, a community in the Wassa Amenfi District in the Western region.

The 30-year-old suspect is alleged to have robbed a Chinese Small Scale Miner of an amount of Gh¢18,000 after inflicting knife wounds on his left hand.

A civilian, who led the police to the wedding venue at West Anaji told Starr News’ Western regional correspondent, Emmanuel Ohene Gyan the couple had just completed the exchange of vows and were about wearing their rings when two plain-clothed police officers from Bogoso stormed the place and whisked the bridegroom away after using one of the invitation cards to confirm his identity.

The joy that had filled the venue of the ceremony was cut short as many of the shocked guests started crying and wailing. The bride, Rebecca Buah, was reported to have collapsed after her groom was arrested.

The suspect has since been taken to Prestea for further investigation.
