CrimeAnambra Man, Chinonso Okoye, Develops App To Fight Internet Fraud by Hardewarlay7(op): 9:44pm On Nov 25, 2019

- The rising cases of fraudulent transaction on the internet has prompted Chinonso Okoye to develop an app to address the issues - Okoye, a software developer, said his decision to build the application was informed by series of complaints by those making purchases on the internet - He expressed optimism that the app would go a long way to reducing rampant cases of fraud A former medical student, Mr Chinonso Okoye from Anambra state has designed an internet application known as ‘The Middle.’

Okoye, a software developer, said his decision to build the application was informed by series of complaints by those making purchases on the internet without their goods being delivered. Addressing journalists on Tuesday, July 2 in Awka, the Anambara state capital, Okoye said he was once a medical student of University of Calabar, Cross River state before abandoning the programme to pursue a career in the Information Communication Technology. He described online shops as the easiest means of defrauding people on the internet, regretting that the trend had now posed a challenge to genuine online store operators.Anambra man, Chinonso Okoye, develops app to fight internet fraud

His words: “This is mostly very rampant on Instagram (a social media platform), where fraudulent people now open online shops to advertise goods, and once they get buyers who make financial transfers to them, they close the account and open another. ‘With an App like – The Middle, you can successfully transfer money to an online shop owner, and he will be unable to withdraw the money until you have clicked the certify button, after your goods have been delivered to you.

“I built this app to curb cases of fraud, both on the side of the seller, and on the side of the buyer who may get the goods and refuse to certify the payment. “In cases like this, the app simply pays the online shop owner after waiting for three days for the buyer to certify the transaction.” Okoye cited several ugly experiences he has had with shop owners on Instagram, expressing optimism that the app would go a long way to reducing such cases.

He continued: “I was surfing the internet just yesterday, and I say an online shop that advertised very beautiful male underwear at cheap prices, I decided to check who the owner was, and found out it was a girl who had complained to me that she was defrauded of N80,000 by an online shop owner. “I put a call across to her and asked when she started the business; do you know what she said? She told me she wanted to use it to retaliate what was done to her, and they are many of them like that, but with The Middle, you will never be scammed.” https://mynaijabasic.com.ng/anambra-man-chinonso-okoye-develops-app-to-fight-internet-fraud/

Jobs/VacanciesHow To Be Making Good Income As A Freelancer In `2020` - No Risk! by Hardewarlay7(op): 6:58am On Nov 24, 2019
How To Make Money Everytime As A Freelancer :

Introduction

Freelancer.com is a marketplace of ideas, skills, and talents where anyone can work on what they love. The website has been up and running for about six years now and it has since launched many products and features to help both employers and freelancers get work done. Because of the platform's vastness, it may seem too daunting for a newbie. In this short guide, we'll discuss the processes involved in working and earning at Freelancer.com.

Determine What You Are Good At

Determine what you are good at, commit to a life of freelancing, and sign up for a Freelancer.com account. Signing up and working at Freelancer.com is absolutely free, but we also have membership upgrades that will greatly help you to earn more, such as getting more bids per month, and a list of skills. Certain projects require your profile to reflect certain skills, so the more you have listed, the more opportunities you get.

Set Up Your Profile

We can't stress the need for a complete and presentable profile enough. It showcases your personality, resume, portfolio, and skills all rolled into one. It's also an important tool for persuasion: an employer may completely base his judgment on whether to hire you or not by how well you present yourself.

Find Projects And Start Bidding

Earning money at Freelancer.com actually begins here. Hundreds of projects and contests in different categories are posted each day. Find the ones you want to work on by regularly checking the Jobs or Contests page. In the jobs page, you'll see suitable projects open for bidding. For contests, you simply submit an entry.

There are over 750 work categories in the Jobs page, from Web development and writing, to marketing and accounting. Certainly, a job that matches your skills is listed here. Before placing your bid, make sure to write a compelling reason why the employer should pick you over everyone else. Not sure how the bidding process works.

Work

This might be the hardest but most rewarding step. Before starting work, make sure that both you and the employer are aligned in terms of project scope, deadlines, and milestone payments so there will be no issues along the way. You may want to have a signed agreement in place to seal the deal. All must be clear between you and the employer before you jump the gun – you may be too excited to start working, but keep calm and focus.

Once the job is awarded, make sure you impress your employer by being consistent when it comes to timeline, budget, and communication. Use the built-in chatbox to converse easier, or better yet, install our mobile app so you can keep your employer updated wherever you are.

Get Paid And Earn Five-Star Feedback

Once you get paid, you can withdraw your money via PayPal Wire Transfer, Moneybookers, or your nominated local bank account (works through the Express Withdrawal System). Also, always aim for five-star feedback – the accumulation of great, quality feedback is a great addition to your portfolio.

Choose a Niche

If you’re new to freelancing, you might feel ready to take ANY paid work you can get your hands on. But as you get deeper into your freelancing career, you’ll need to start being more strategic about the types of work you do and the clients you take on.

You might be thinking: How can getting picky about the freelance work I do help me make MORE money?

Because when you specialize, you become an expert in a specific field, and experts can charge more for their specialized services.

In my opinion, the age-old debate of whether you should be a specialist or a generalist when starting your freelance career isn’t even worth thinking twice about. If you were your client and you needed someone to fix your email marketing so people actually sign up, write ads that convince people to buy, or just update your outdated website, would you rather hire someone who’s a jack of all trades, or a person who’s a pro at doing one thing and doing it well? I’ll choose the specialist every time.

And when it comes to my own experience, choosing to specialize as a content marketing consultan

And when it comes to my own experience, choosing to specialize as a content marketing consultant—as opposed to being a general digital marketer for hire—has been the single best decision I’ve made with my freelance business. Because I’ve built my reputation with clients as a talented content marketer over the past few years and frequently engage with content marketing content on various social media channels, I’ve been able to rise to the top of my niche in a relatively short period of time. This is one of my favorite takeaways from Becoming a Successful Freelancer over on CreativeLive.

Get Clear on Your Service Offerings

One major decision you need to make early on in your freelance career is what you do and what you don’t do.

The more specific you can be about what services you offer, the better. Not only will it help you brand yourself, it’ll allow you to control how potential clients perceive you and give you the opportunity to continue building your portfolio in the direction you want to move in.

If you want to focus on becoming a sought after, highly paid Ruby on Rails developer, then you shouldn’t even consider contract offers for customizing WordPress themes or designing the user experience for an upcoming app. While the short-term benefits of steady work are tempting (and sometimes necessary), taking on projects that aren’t getting you closer to your ultimate goal of becoming the best in your field, will only distract and delay you from making meaningful progress.

PoliticsOshiomhole Disclose What Will Happen To Dino Melaye In The Next Weekend by Hardewarlay7(op): 11:27am On Nov 23, 2019
The All Progressives Congress, APC, National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has declared that there was no hope that Dino Melaye would return to the Senate as the Senator representing Kogi West again.

Oshiomhole spoke at the APC Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the party’s national secretariat on Friday.

He boasted that the senator representing Kogi West would next weekend, join the other 15 National Assembly members that rebelled against the party.

“Mr President, I also believe, it is significant to point out that those who rebel against this party, who sought to bring us down, who decamped at a critical moment, believing that their defection would destabilise us and we would have no enough time to make up, 16 of them (would have regretted their action).

“By the special grace of God, Nigerian electorate have chosen to punish them with their PVCs and their ballot papers. They were all voted out, and APC senators were voted in to replace them. The electorate also elected more members of House of Representatives on the APC platform.

“There is one that is still struggling but as it is, he is at 20,000 feet below ground level and he’s hoping that there would be a miracle that would bring him to ground level and climb the tree to the Senate but by the special grace of God, under your leadership, that deficit, there will be no miracles in the election, particularly when they are free and fair.

“God willing, by the end of the month, when the re-run in Kogi State would be done, the 16th stubborn one will go the way of the other 15.

“That for me is remarkable because the message is clear that gradually but steadily when anyone who went to UAE… in this case, those who rode on the back of Mr President to win election and turned round to monetise it and use that same power to attack not only the Presidency but to attack the institution of our party. I think those lessons will linger,” he said. https://mynaijabasic.com.ng/oshiomhole-disclose-what-will-happen-to-dino-melaye-in-the-next-weekend/

PoliticsAPC Must Not Die After My Tenure Buari Tells APC Leaders by Hardewarlay7(op): 11:17am On Nov 23, 2019
I’ve no third term plan, says President
Party’s NEC sets up reconciliation committee
President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday charged the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to work hard to ensure that the party survives beyond the end of his tenure in 2023.

The President, who spoke at the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party in Abuja, said that history would be unkind to the party leaders if the party collapses at the end of his administration.

He also said the party leaders have a responsibility to make the party attractive to their constituents, saying that “anybody who fails to maintain the respect of his constituents and is thrown out, it is his problem.

“Like the chairman has said, all those who left us to the upper house, none of them were voted by his constituents.

“You want to take our people for granted, but they know what they are doing,” he said.

He added: “The aim is that, as I mentioned yesterday, history will not be fair to us outright if the APC collapses at the end of this term.

“History will be fair to us if the APC remains strong and not only holds the centre but makes gains. People will reflect with nostalgia that once upon a time, the builders of APC made a lot of sacrifices, worked very hard.

“The sacrifices are physical, material and moral to make sure that we maintain the leadership, politically, of this system. This is what we should all aim at and ensure that our constituencies understand us and follow us to this great objective.

“What we did for you the executive, NWC is bottom to top. You must make sure that people elected to be responsible from polling units to wards to local governments to states and here are respected in their respective constituencies.

“This is the only way we can make this party survive. This is the only way history will be kind to us that we have led with absolute concern for the country and for the people.

“If for any other reason you divide the party at any constituency and it causes failure, then be prepared that history will not recognize you as a leader at any level at any time.”

Speaking further, the President noted that the relationship between the executive arm of government and the legislature under the current dispensation has been commendable, noting that the National Assembly had been cooperative, which he said had allowed the administration to make remarkable progress.

He said: “Yesterday, I had to mention our relationship. And when I say ‘our’, I mean the executive and the legislature. And I was constrained to tell you there was a time I called the Senate President and the Leader of the House and told them that to sit on a budget for seven months is not politics nor is it hurting the President, whoever he is. It is hurting the country and the people we swore by the books we believe in, to serve them whole-heartedly.

“For that reason, I was pleased to mention yesterday that the 9th Assembly, you can see and read in the papers, they have shown so much commitment; they sit down on important issues and we make a lot of progress. This relationship, we will try and maintain because there are a lot of things that will not go public.

“We cannot allow those things to go public. But I want to tell you that we are making a lot of progress and what people fail to do is to appreciate the progress that this administration has made; what we inherited when we came in 2015.”

President Buhari also dispelled the rumour that he is working to perpetuate himself in office beyond 2023, saying that he would not take any action that is contrary to the provisions of the Nigerian constitution.

He urged the brains behind the rumour to read the Constitution, pointing out that he is only permitted to spend two terms of office, the second of which he is running already.

He said: “I’m not going to make the mistake of attempting a third term. Besides age, I swore by the holy book that I would go by the constitution, and the constitution said two terms.

“I know that I’m in my last term and I cannot afford to be reckless because I’m not going to ask for anybody’s vote.

“I want you to read the constitution. I made sure that when the constitution says the election as we did it the last time will start in 18 months time or 20 months time, it is going to be done.”

The President, who commended the party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, for his efforts at leading the party, lamented the losses the party has suffered in some states it used to rule, including Imo, Zamfara and Bauchi.

Speaking at the event, Oshiomhole narrated the events that had been from the general elections, the successes and losses, as well as areas where the party still hopes to make gains.

Oshiomhole said: “I think our victory in Kwara State, for me, was most outstanding. I think we now generally refer to Kwara with pride as the O to ge revolution.

“We also won in Gombe State. I’m sure for our brothers in the North-East Gombe with an incumbent PDP governor, our people, only armed with their bare hands but obviously with Mr President’s goodwill, we defeated PDP in Gombe State and today, Gombe is governed by APC governor.

“So, Mr President, I believe that until these issues are finally resolved, particularly those of them that are likely to go until Supreme Court level, I believe heavenly that life is sustained by hope.

“I believe that by the time we are done, we will have a chance of winning some of these cases that are going to the Supreme Court where we have lost at the level of the Court of Appeal.

“We have also got through a rather stressful process, including the fact that the opposition chose to challenge your election. They even wanted to take into school as to whether there is a different between Muhammadu and Muhammad and all,” he said.

One of the high points of the meeting was the NEC members’ suggestion that Buhari should constitute a reconciliation committee as the leader of the party to settle the grievances that are rocking the party in different states.

The NEC resolution, disclosed in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, was adopted from the recommendation of the National Caucus of the party reached on Thursday during a meeting it held at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.

The Standing Committee will be empowered to address the grievances of party members and resolve existing conflicts, all with a view to fostering unity and oneness within the party.

Among those in attendance of the NEC meeting, which held more than a year after the last one, were the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Senate President, Ahmed Lawan; Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege; Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Wade; Senate Leader, Abdullahi Yahaya; Deputy Senate Leader, Prof. Ajayi Borrofice; Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu; Deputy Senate Whip, Sabi Abdullahi and former interim National Chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande.

Also in attendance were governors of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule; Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai; Borno, Prof. Babagana Zulum; Kogi, Yahaya Bello; Katsina, Aminu Masari; Edo, Godwin Obaseki; Ondo, Rotimi Akeredolu; Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola; Ekiti, Kayode Fayemi and Jigawa, Abubakar Badaru, among others. https://mynaijabasic.com.ng/apc-must-not-die-after-my-tenure-buari-tell-its-party-leaders/

SportsJose Mourinho Become The Second Highest-paid Manager In World Football by Hardewarlay7(op): 11:07am On Nov 23, 2019
... Seals Spurs four-year deal
Mourinho becomes second highest-paid manager
Jose Mourinho has become the second highest-paid manager in world football after signing a monstrous £15million-a-year contract to become Tottenham manager.

It has emerged that Mourinho will earn almost double the wage of his predecessor Mauricio Pochettino after taking charge at the north London club on Wednesday morning.

This is the first time in Tottenham’s history that they have appointed a manager of Mourinho’s pedigree – he has won 25 trophies in his managerial career – and it seems they have paid a hefty price.

Mourinho’s £15m-a-year salary sees him jump straight into the list of the game’s highest earners at No 2.

He still trails nemesis Pep Guardiola though, with the Manchester City boss signing a new two-year contract in 2018 worth £20m per season.

The Spaniard is the best-paid boss in world football but has proven to be worth every penny after winning back-to-back Premier League titles at the Etihad.

Below Mourinho in third place is Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone. The fiery Argentine has been in charge of the Spanish giants since 2011, winning La Liga in 2013-14 and taking the club to two Champions League finals.

Simeone earns a cool £13m-a-year and has a contract with Atletico until 2022.

China is renowned for paying big wages and it is no surprise that two of the top five highest-earning managers come from there.

Rafa Benitez takes home £11.5m per season with Dalian Yifang after joining when he left Newcastle over the summer while Italian legend Fabio Cannavaro earns £10m per year for his work with Guangzhou Evergrande.

Zinedine Zidane shares fifth place with Cannavaro. The Real Madrid boss made a sensational return to the Bernabeu towards the end of last season and managed to negotiate a £10m-a-year salary.

Antonio Conte comes next with his £9m-a-season salary at Inter Milan. The Italian returned to his homeland over the summer and has started extremely well. His side sit just one point behind Juventus after 12 matches.

The rest of the top 10 is made up of three European heavyweights. Paris Saint-Germain’s Thomas Tuchel is paid £8m per season as he looks to finally end the club’s woes in the Champions League.

CrimeDeath For Hate Speech' Nigerians Are Rule By Fear by Hardewarlay7(op): 8:33am On Nov 22, 2019
Death for ‘hate speech’? Nigerians are now ruled by fear

Last week, I wrote that this country, created on the basis of might is right, was still being run on the whims of its self-interested leaders, who exercise abusive power and control over the people.

If that seems controversial, just consider how fear is increasingly used as a weapon of political control in this country. Truth is, politics of fear and erosion of freedoms are now prevalent in Nigeria, with arbitrary arrests and indefinite detentions of ordinary citizens on trumped-up charges of treason for merely expressing unpalatable and offensive views.

A true democracy must tolerate open dissent and rabble-rousing. In several western countries, there are anarchist organisations, such as the Anarchist Federation in the UK, which openly calls for the abolition of governments. Provided their activities are peaceful, they are not arrested, or their offices and websites shut down, for espousing anarchism.

By contrast, in Nigeria, a political agitator and radical journalist, Omoyele Sowore, has been detained since August on treason charges for calling, without evidence of organising armed rebellion, for “Revolution Now”. Surely, a rabble-rousing comment but certainly not a treasonable offence in any genuine democracy and civilised society. Of course, with President Muhammadu Buhari using national security to justify trampling on the rule of law and individual liberties, Nigeria is more under a strongman rule than a true democracy.

Which brings us to the recent bill proposing a death penalty for so-called hate speech. Arbitrary arrests and detentions are bad enough, but death for “hate speech” is beyond the pale. Yet, on November 12, Senator Alihu Sabi Abdullahi, deputy chief whip of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Senate, introduced a bill to establish a “National Commission for the Prohibition of Hate Speech”, under which anyone found guilty of making a “hate speech” would be jailed for five years or more, and if the speech leads to the death of another person, sentenced to death by hanging!

Here’s the first point. In a country where, as President Barack Obama wrote in his book The Audacity of Hope, there are two sets of rules “one for elites and one for ordinary people”, the Hate Speech bill is most certainly not aimed at the political elites, whose incitements during elections have led to the death of hundreds of Nigerians. It is interesting that the focus of the bill is on the dissemination of information through the social media, but more people have died in this country due to reckless and incendiary comments by politicians than anything ordinary Nigerians produced, published or broadcast on social media.

I mean, when over 800 people died in the North after the 2011 presidential election, whose comments allegedly triggered the violence? When the world turned, laser-focused, on Nigeria during the 2015 presidential election to prevent a post-election conflagration, whose inflammatory comments fuelled the tension? And who said during this year’s election that any foreign election observer who interfered in the election would “go back in body bags”? Were these ordinary Nigerians or the politicians? Of course, the politicians. Yet, although Nigeria, like every other country, has inchoate offences, such as incitement, in its criminal law, no politician has been prosecuted for inciting election violence.

So, the first point is that the bill is misguided and not aimed at the real peddlers of hatred in Nigeria – the politicians. The violence in last week’s Kogi and Bayelsa governorship elections, during which some people died, shows that the politicians, through incendiary comments and use of political thugs, have caused more deaths in this country than anything produced, published or broadcast by ordinary Nigerians on social media. .
3. While one man is busy consoling and comforting her for menstrual pains, another dude is busy rejoicing because she's not pregnant.
.
4. When you go through your girlfriend's phone never look for messages with guys. Look for chats between her and her best friend that's where the heartbreaking truth is.
.
5. A man can work for 10 years with unemployed wife and still be happy. But a woman will work 5 days and the whole community will know about the unemployed husband.

6. She calls you while secretly hoping you won't pick up the call so that she can blame you later for not answering her call. But the most confusing part is when you break up with her she will look even more beautiful.

8. If you help a lady when she's in trouble, she will surely remember you when she's in trouble again. Be extra careful my brothers and stop the habit of making promises during sex otherwise you will die poor.
.
9. "I love you unconditionally"...that's a lie my brother, a man is loved under the condition that he provides.
