Kunlebayo12: I’m on the verge of being rusticated in school
October when I was writing my final exams, something happened just 1 day to end the exam. So me and my friend wrote on our question paper and we exchanged it between ourselves. When I was writing this initiator started searching everyone he got to me and he search me there was nothing on me, he search my booklet yet nothing, he ask me where is my question paper and I showed him just the front because it was the back we wrote on, when he saw it he flipped the back and saw the question paper and ask me who wrote this and what is all this I told him I wrote it with all the back and font he told me to sit down
Minute later he went outside and bought exam malpractice form and gave me and others those who were using chukuli, phones, book and other material to write.
I beg him that I wrote it, all pleading fell to deaf ear, when I saw he was yielding and time was going and no time to beg I just had to fill the paper. I filled it so I can beg him later so I would be able to write something
To get the long story short, 3 days later I was invigated to the student disciplinary board to explain what happened Which I did, I pleaded and beg that it won’t happen again, thry told me I will be punished but not expelled In my school examination malpractice is straight expulsion no matter who you may know.
2 days later I got I call from my classrep that I was given 2years rustication. I called the Hod and course adviser and they said it true, I check the name of student expelled my name wasn’t there, I confirm from the student discplinary board and truly I was recommended 2 years suspension but the result will be out on February 17th this year, and when it out my student portal will be shutdown immediately
Even since then I have been sad, depressed and lonely and I can’t even tell my parents because they will be disappointed in me, I have been carrying a burden since early November and now it January, I have been thinking none stop, I have been contemplating suicide to be honest, I don’t pray this kind of situation for my worst enemies and those who haven’t been will never truly knows the pain it cause till you’re in the situation
Please i need help and words of encouragement Even if you blame me, the dead has already been done, I Bleep up and I accepted my mistake
Please guys I’m dying In silence, I can’t even wait till February 17th, it killing me knowing few days to graduation I was rusticated, what will I tell my parent, or people that have help me one way or another in school. I’m devastated to be honest
I might be ending it any moment from now because this pain is unbearable for me, I just want it to end so I can live a normal life again but I can’t keep living like this. Ignore my typo error
Please someone should help me push it to front page You don't need to kill yourself. There's a lady i read about on Zikoko, she's a cybersecurity expert earning almost 3m per month. And she doesn't have a degree, use the 2 years to learn a tech skill and start working. Get a system, find a tech scholarship on TSAcademy Online and start learning. You will only learn within 6 weeks and they will get you an internship placement. Life is too easy. |

saintbillion: Good evening my fellow Nairalanders.
On the 28th of December, I went to Access bank to request for a new ATM card. While waiting for my turn, another customer, an elderly man of around 50years reached out to me saying i should help him out with my powerbank so he can power his phone and set his mobile app of which i obliged. I gave him the powerbank, when the bank staff was attending to me; the old man left the banking with my powerbank.
I quickly remember and raised alarm. His form was later sort out and his phone number was called. He picked and said he won't bring the powerbank. He ended up blocking the staff number. I requested they give me his number so i can trace him. They refuse and said it's against their policy.
The powerbank is very costly. Pls what can i do get my property Sorry about your loss but I but my 40kmah oraimo powerbank for 37k. You have been cheated. |

Akinpedia: I agree that 150k is small, but let's be honest: many people won't even take a 250k job if it requires 9-5 stress because they've seen their 'crypto' or 'betting' friend make that in one day. Is it really just the low pay, or have we lost the discipline to grow through a career? If everyone waits for 500k entry-level, who will do the actual work? Thanks for seeing my view. There is greed with a lot of people as well and it's our Country they'll causes it. I graduated in 2018 and ever since the highest payinh job I got was teaching job which pays 30k. Imagine, if not for God and then Nairaland that help me get some remote jobs, I might still be in that school slaving. And don't come at me for not trying, I have applied to almost 25 GT job and hundreds of other jobs. |

Iamblessed88: That 150k job today in a solid firm can be the catalyst for your millions tommorow. As an entry level, you’re not adding much value per say. You’re learning more than you’re adding value.
Entry level that cannot write mails properly or format documents or even staple papers the right way. Hiss.
In my days, we were thankful to put names of bluechip companies on our cv even if it was to work for free. I can tell you the strategy paid off as most folks i started with either leveraged the experience and company brand to get jobs abroad or they pivoted to other companies and are earning millions in Nigeria.
Prioritize learning and experience first before huge salary.
If i were starting over, i will gladly take a 70k per month job in a blue chip company today with the full knowledge that all i need is a year or two worth of learning, experience, networking, etc before i make my next big move I see you don't get my point, of course I will gladly take the 150k entry level job as well but it's location restricted. How far can 150k take you in lagos if it's an onsite job? |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Why Are We Like This? Why Nigerians Are Obsessed With 'quick Money! by Hardeybohwarley(m): 8:37pm On Dec 30, 2025 |
Akinpedia: I’ve been closely observing the Jobs/Vacancies section for quite some time now, and over this period, I’ve started to notice a very distinct pattern emerging. Whenever someone posts a vacancy for a trainee role that offers a clear long-term career path but comes with a modest starting salary, that post usually receives about 5 comments, maybe a few more if it’s particularly detailed.
However, when someone shares a 'business opportunity' promising an unrealistic 500k a month with absolutely 'no experience needed,' that thread instantly blows up with dozens, sometimes hundreds of comments and shares. It’s a stark contrast that really makes me wonder about our collective mindset.
Why are we so drawn to these get-rich-quick schemes? Why has the idea of earning 'Quick Money' become almost like our national anthem, dominating our conversations and aspirations?
The Three Hard Truths
The Death of the 'Entry Level': In today's fast-paced world, it seems everyone aspires to become a CEO or a “Big Boy” within just six months. The desire to reach the top quickly has overshadowed the traditional career path. Few people are willing to start as apprentices or junior staff members anymore, roles that are essential for gaining foundational experience. We want to enjoy the fruit without taking the time or effort to plant and nurture the tree first. This shift reflects a broader impatience with the process of learning and growth in professional environments.
The Betting Culture: In today’s society, we have gradually replaced the genuine dignity and value of hard labor with a fleeting hope placed on uncertain "odds." Instead of investing in their personal growth or future, many young men are choosing to spend their last 2,000 units of currency on betting slips. This is money that could have been wisely used to purchase educational resources or data plans that would allow them to learn valuable digital skills, which have the potential to provide long-term benefits and career opportunities.
The 'Respect' Factor: In Nigeria today, the common question people ask is no longer about how you achieved your success or the journey you took; instead, they simply want to know if you possess wealth or status. We tend to show more admiration and respect for a 22-year-old who drives a Lexus than for a 40-year-old teacher who has dedicated 15 years of hard work and commitment to their profession. This shift in values highlights how material possessions have become a primary measure of respect in society.
[The "Devil's Advocate"] "I understand that the economy is really tough right now. I know that a 50k salary hardly stretches far enough to even buy a basic bag of rice. But have we, in our desperate hunger for quick money, become completely blind to the importance and long-term benefits of investing in building a real, sustainable career that can grow over time?"
Is it primarily the current state of the economy that has pushed us into adopting this relentless 'Quick Money' mindset, or have we, as a society, gradually lost the valuable virtue of patience that once guided our decisions and actions? Let’s take a moment to explore and discuss these important questions together. You can't blame the people, many entry level job too needs to do something about their pay. And the cost of living is why they need to. Most of these entry level job are in big cities which cost a lot to reside in. 150k cannot sustain a person in lagos and some of these companies are offering that. |

Food › Re: Titus: When Last Did You Eat This? (Pictures) by Hardeybohwarley(m): 9:07pm On Dec 29, 2025 |
Rapmoney: When last did you eat this? It is a pity that many Nigerians can no longer afford foods that are meant to be affordable.
I remember the lyrics of late Christopher Wallace aka Notorious B.I.G. in his 1994 single titled 'Juicy'. In the song, Wallace said that he used to eat sardines for dinner way back when he was broke.
Some years back, former Manchester United's striker, Romelu Lukaku from Belgium said in an interview that he and his mum used to feed on bread and milk when they were poor. Imagine!
Now can the average Nigerian comfortably afford common foods like sardines, bread and milk for dinner? When there is inflation and the minimum wage is $47 per month?
Average Nigerians spend the larger part of their income on basic things like food. Food is one of the basic needs of man. It is compulsory for survival. It is more important than education, or any other thing. I'm planning to treat myself to a bread, sardine and a soda when I get paid on Wednesday. Imagine me thinking it's luxury. |
