Lolz, maybe you are right when it comes to Research about Canada grin.
I ask people (Prospective Students and Students) questions though.
gavinmensah: Your post. Sounds like you have done quite some research. grin

gavinmensah: Are you a lecturer?

Good point Sir, I would relate Mr Vinnygod's question to "Why do people prefer some province"

Just to add to what you have said Sir, I really can't say if people prefer College to University; however if he is talking based on the outcome of a research carried out, maybe we might need to check the reasons the people gave, but if it is just his view, then let me add my own opinion as well.

From the conversations I have had with people, They go to Colleges mainly because they had 2.2 @ Undergraduate Level, or they want to change field of study, so getting admission into Universities seems a bit difficult.
However, I heard from some people that it is better to go to a College if the aim is to get PR rather than the Studies itself, I can't prove this point, just some of the reasons I have heard.

For those that chose University instead of Colleges (now am concentrating on Post graduate Students), they argue that they prefer to go for a Masters than for a PGD no matter the advantages of a PGD, because they said Masters is Masters anywhere in the world, and PGD is also PGD all over; therefore Masters gives them the flexibility of switching Countries, or getting a PHD.

Some people are also beginning to argue that with a Masters degree (that is going to a University) one stands the chance to get PR easily, since Opportunity Ontario (The Ontario Nomination Program) gives preference to Masters and PHD holders.

In conclusion, I think one needs to be sure of his/her goal in Canada, then choose the perfect fit. Some prefer a 2years program to a 1 year program, simply because of PGWP.

Note: I am in Nigeria, so I don't know what operates in Canada, just adding my own, hope it is allowed Vinnygod, u know I am not a Guru, and the question is meant for Gurus grin.

God Bless.

Jijola: Note the alteration in the quote below.
On whether people opt for colleges more than Universities, I may not be able to conclude on this to avoid hasty generalization. However, the merits a College has over a University which may influence one's decision to opt for the former include but are not limited to the following:
1.More Practicum, which gives field experience as opposed to theoretic knowledge associated with University education.
2. Lenient entry requirements, though not applicable to everyone who choses a College.
3. More coop opportunities adding to work experience.
4. More technical specialisations which have better job opportunities, e.g. Welding, drilling and safety are lucrative Engineering areas whose trainings are mainly available in colleges in addition to professional trainings.
5. Colleges offer more Diploma and Certificate programmes which benefit those that want to change fields.
6. College programmes are generally shorter, hence faster 'profit' turn-over. You can start earning money asap.
7. Employers tend to favour college graduates more because the remuneration is somewhat lower than University graduates. This is why there are more openings for college products in most sectors where both sides can work.Note however that this is common only in areas where either party is eligible for the job, and it's not a research/academic one.
8. In the western world, Universities are mainly for researchers/academics while colleges are mainly for technicians and technologists. Generally, there are more industry job openings than research/academic openings.
Hope this lil input makes some clarification.

Instead of flogging the guy, why don't you see it from the angle of him being ignorant. The more reason why we should appreciate Nairaland and the People on this thread that devotes their time and energy to help others so they don't fall prey to some so called agents.

The agent is a fraud no doubt, but seriously, we should begin to appreciate the selfless people on this thread more..
Amefrica: ...even the guy in question deserves to be flogged! Why pay such exorbitant fee for VISA that's not guaranteed.

I'm not justifying the agent's action tho, he's a fast man shaa, he's a fraud --- he should be apprehended!

Oga Pyhz please can you define the word DUPED?
Sorry to disagree with you, he wasn't duped, if you read his initial post, he made mention of an agreement between himself and the agent, I think that's a contract.
The $13,000 USD is outrageous and Unbelievable, but we have been emphasizing to much on the 13k instead of tackling his main question, am actually sure he must be feeling terrible now to have falling victim, the best we should do is to help, and stop concentrating on his shortcoming. Just my personal view.
God Bless
pyhz: R u ok @ all?? He was DUPED ! What bilateral agreement r u sayin existed btw them??
He was definitely extorted n u here saying an agent does their business!

Please observe Rule 18.
Now to your question, what if The cheapest University doesn't have the course you wish to study? or The University is not in a province you like.
I think you need to decide on what Masters program you wanna go for, and use any search engine of your choice to compile all the Universities in Canada that offer the course, then you can choose the Cheapest of the shortlisted Universities,
Then you can come back here to ask your specific questions.
chikenjoku1yah: Pls can anyone tell me d cheapest school i can apply for my master's pls n pls pls

Explaining that is a Choice not a must, I didn't talk about it in my SOP.
But it all depends on what the Condition is.
Haustraliah: OK,accepted.
but reasons for using conditional acceptance letter should explained on her SOP
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by harkinhola: 9:14am On Jul 20, 2014
Sorry to disagree with you, if you read what she typed very well, you should know she meant she used her conditional acceptance letter.
Anyways where did you get the theory of conditional letter not being accepted by the VO, I guess it must be a new development because I also used Conditional letter for my Visa, and I got it.
I was required to submit my degree Certificate, and I wasn't ready to risk sending it to Canada, so what I did was to scan it and upload it to my profile when I was applying for my Visa.
So pls, where did you get your information? Or it is just a mere thought of yours.
Thanks.
Haustraliah: hear yourself, you said you use your unconditional for your visa
application, why not use the conditional acceptance letter to apply.
all acceptance letter must be unconditional.
Although we are of different opinion,
don't be annoyed if the way I had replied you is aggressive, just explaining how it should be.
