Travel › Re: First Time In Ghana: Personal Experience by harlee(m): 11:06am On Mar 07, 2019 |
Missali: Hello!
I've seen a lot of interesting and informative threads in the Travel section and feel like sharing my experience in Ghana as a first timer.
Everything I say would be based on my personal experience and/or findings. Feel free to drop suggestions, questions and I'll respond as soon as I can.
TRANSPORTATION I traveled in the month of December last year and I had to first leave for Lagos as I do not reside there, so cost of transportation differs depending on your location.
There are a number of transport companies that ply the Lagos-Accra route daily, such as Chisco, ABC, Efex etc. I boarded GUO in Iyana Ipaja however as suggested by my host and paid the sum of N19, 500 using a Virgin Passport. Some people traveled with their National ID or other means of identification.
We were each given a pack of rice and stew with beef and left the park at approximately 8am. At an Immigration check point the driver would simply take our Passports for stamping and we never spent more than a couple of minutes at each stop.
At the Seme border, some passenger luggage were searched and the Officers there asked what your purpose for traveling to Ghana was, nothing overboard. We were asked to submit Yellow Fever card here, while those who had provided theirs, they made no fuss about those who didn't.
The ride from Benin Republic to Ghana was great as the roads were in good condition. At 3pm Ghanaian time we were at Aflao border (this is the Ghanaian border). Note: Nigeria is an hour ahead of us, so it was 4pm in Nigeria.
At 6pm we arrived Accra. Altogether, that's 10 hours. I've had longer and even rougher trips in Nigeria so I didn't feel too tired or stressed. You can however book a flight and arrive at the Kotoka International Airport in no time, which costs about N45, 000 if you can't bear sitting for that long.
I got a 60 day stamp, the stamps are quite plenty u got a 60 days stamp, which means u can stay in Ghana for 60days without issues with immigration right? |
Business › What Business Can Float With 50,000?? by harlee(op): 10:24am On Mar 07, 2019 |
Hello my peeps, good morning. Here to get response from well meaning nairalanders, about business that can kickoff with 50,000(naira).I have 3 options
1.second hand clothing: I am even intending to go to Cotonou to purchase cloths.. My worries; custom wahala, but if I do it small scale will I be able to pass through without issues.
2.yam business; mind you am from Benue state, that's home for me and I have even gone to mile 12 to meet the dealers that will help me resell.. The issue is that the capital is intensive enough.which might make me have a joint business which I want to avoid in term of risk taking, my partner might not have the same courage as me.
3.tomatoes business; buying from the north and reselling in south west(Lagos).still the issue of capital. So my people, I need advice on how to mark 50,000 productive .I'd appreciate any advice so long as its about buying and selling. Am based in Lagos but not limited business wise.thanks |

Business › Re: Make money with sport now by harlee(m): 10:41am On Feb 18, 2019 |
akenzua74: I have an idea of good stuff trading. Buying yam from North Central and sell in Lagos @whole sale. For the business to be profitable, it need huge capital. For instance, J5 bus or Ford transit take 150-170k and it can only take about 1600-2000pcs which translates to 16to20 heap(200tubers/heap). Average selling price is 15-20k'heap depend on sizes. But s big truck carry btwn 18000-20000tubers(180-200heaps) and transportation is about 450-550k. So if you do your arithmetic well, it cost an average of 9370 to transport an heap with J5 or Ford bus while it cost and average of 3000/heap for a trailer. But it will take about 4.1m to start with big truck and expect minimum profit of 800-900k per trip. While it difficult to get 50k, /trip in J5 and you need about 550k to do J5. If you are interested we can arrange to meet in Abj since you reside there as I also do. Maybe we can work out partnership. nice idea not properly explained.. No offence tho |

spiralwedge: I can join you or 2 more people for a coach if there are ready buyers.
If the N450 big yams come in a coach of 1000piece = 450,000
How much is the transport? Is it included?
If it is included, how much will 1 yam be sold for? That is what will determine our profits. first of all,I don't know if there are ready buyers, except they declares interest, we'll create a whatapp group, meet and analyse the business in details.. Another thing is that 450 is the selling price here in lag, that means u have to get it cheaper plus logistics.. |

So,I later met the agent in charge of reselling, n he started the interview, he asked if I was into the business before, where I would always get my produce, and If I was based in lag..my answers:am based in lag,no first time going into the business,Benue Zaki baim..now he advised that I go with someone who is already in the business so has to have an idea on how to purchase so as to maximize profit..I guess I understand that, yam sizes varies n I think there are 3 most important 300,400,450.....he also asked me to call when I am abt to travel, cos at the moment, the market is full..thereby making price to fall...next issue is on how to buy n transport from Benue, with the way the man was talking, he was always mention one coach which is abt 1000 for big size and 1500 for small,I never get that money..but let's see sha |
