PoliticsRe:taking A Look At Leadership And Our Constitution by harrisonsbible(op): 2:03pm On Aug 28, 2013
Waking up this morning I felt a pulse of unsatisfaction of the happenings around me, with my face as pale as ever…I begin to ask myself what is happening with you…couldn’t find any better answer than the incessant increase of sufferings of the common man in our country Nigeria, lots of things running through my heart and head but yet I know its never to late to turn right. for few minutes I continued diagnosis of successive government from 1966 when we had our bloodiest coup up till 1999 and till date. I see that the country has continued to deteriorate in terms of our human development processes and basic infrastructures which made me conclude that our rulers lack moral ethics and also ideologies of leadership. i want to state categorically that we have never had a leader in this country and I am sure you will agree with me, the primary concept of governance is to put the governed first ensuring their development, welfare and safety but in our country the reverse has been the case
Consequently, in the US, which has shown the greatest materialistic progress while giving its citizens numerous rights, harmoniously harnessing individuals who already was on a wrong life pedestal, rejuvenating them to become better people in the society, a typical example is Mike Tyson who became one of the most celebrated/Legend in his profession at a very tender age.
My point today is about human development, harnessing wasting potentials or individuals on the negative paths of life to people that becomes pillars in the society contributing positively to the economy of the nation. Mike Tyson as we all know is a household name when it comes to world boxing today having clichéd the title of the world heavyweight champion at a very tender age of 20…let me take us back memory lane of who Michael Gerard Tyson is.
Mike Tyson born June 30,1966 in Brooklyn Newyork, to Parents Jimmy Kirkpatrick and Lorna Tyson with two other siblings name Denise and Rodney knew hardship at a very tender age after the father deserted them. He was made to venture into various crimes at a tender age of 11 because of the financial struggling of the Mum and before the age of 13 had been arrested over 30times.Notorious of his criminal activities with his gang and bad behavior landed himself to Tryon Schools for Boys ,a reform school in upstate New York ,there he met his transformation as his counselor there Bob Stewart an Amateur boxing champion in his time started to counsel and train Tyson in boxing having seen the inner potential in him, not only was he doing well in boxing he was able to pass his seventh grade and his reading abilities were improved, on parole from Tyron school at the age of 14 ,Bob Stewart introduced the aspiring boxer to be to legendary boxing manager Constatine”Cus” D” Amato who took Mike as his son. To cut the whole story at the very tender age of 20 rose from being a notorious person to be the youngest world heavy weight champion ever in the history of the game.
Hence, leaders are selfless people who know that they have a mission to affect their followers positively and they go the extra mile to make it a reality even till death. Nelson Mandela today is being celebrated globally because of this singular act of knowing who he is, many opportunist in the corridors of power today are naïve of leadership rather are there to enrich themselves because there are no clear provisions to regulate the structures in place and thereby encouraging corruption at the highest level. this brings me to the question of who and who wrote our constitution and what was their aim of giving us such in 1999.Our constitution as it were today in Nigeria is the bane of corruption because it has shown from statistics that poverty has risen to its peak today than in the 50’s,60,s,70,s,80,s and 90,s…someone should educate me on the emergence of the 1999 constitution that has stagnated our country so far because of its excesses and not being clearly defined in so many areas.

Well spoken, creating a pandemonic atmosphere is not the best for Jonathan and his re election for 2015,Let him cogently show Nigerians the reasons we should vote for him or if he is planning to rig himself into 2015.

I truly and humbly write this piece because I have seen that most of us who profess ABBA FATHER are just mere hypocrite…
Our major challenge in this country as it were today is that of self centeredness and insincerity, inability to tackle the problem at hand rather we beat about the bush and the media has lost its credibility because it has been politicized rather than standing on the part of the masses they go about chasing the money bags…it is so disheartening.
We want to copy or come up to the level of the first or second world country but has refused to follow the path to get there, someone will ask what am I really saying!
Human development is the highest asset for social, economic, religious, political, infrastructural development, having it as a foundation others can thrive maximally to make our environment a habitable, conducive place with less crime and lots of inputs from every tom, dick and harry.
Let me digress a little, for Christians we were taught that except a man be born again he cannot enter into the kingdom of God…so many have asked one question and many more are still asking same question; what is being born again??according to the bible…”Except a man is born of the spirit” which brings us to transformation of the mind that humans are here to change lives even as Christ himself did while here on earth,it was recorded he went about doing good and changing lives according to the bible. Changing lives is the core ministry of Christ, you can call it repentance because on coming he made it known to all that he came for the lost(hopeless, thieves, prostitutes, destitutes, etc).to show them the right way to go and that way brings about reformation, transformation not just to the individuals but to their environment as they live good/purposeful lives and they in turn having seen the truth also moves on to affect others positively which automatically gives us a peaceful, habitable and progressive atmosphere. Many today are just theoreticians but don’t put to practice the only Law of development, according to the bible Jesus made a comment that we should not be hearers of this word but we should be DOERS because it is only in doing that we will achieve the desired result.
As a country we have not only closed our eyes to the truth but our government at the center has refused to take the path of resolution of our problems from the root, which to me shows insincerity on their own path of moving us to the promise land.Nigeria today according to international observaers requires mourning for because we are approaching a state of anarchy and nothing is being done to salvage the situation rather they choose the priority of witchunting and seeking vendetta.
It is never to late to be right and on this note I think our government should pay more attention to our academic institution, to reduce the numbers as we have today and beef up the necessary infrastructure/ equipments among the few world standard institutions we have today for learning, revamp our national electric power sources without biasness and impunity, ensure that good roads are built to standard, build low cost housing estates for the average citizens secondly we need to look into our constitution and make necessary amendment that will ensure/enhance progressive development.
Thirdly our judiciary should be purged and allowed to function independent of the center without interference, men of integrity should be motivated to do their job so that the upcoming ones can imbibe the culture of accountability and of posterity. corruption is a disease and is anti-development and I believe that it can be reduced to the barest minimum if the federal government will be honest to fight it without fear or favor,so we have to choose what we want as a country, there can only be improvement if this facts are implemented promptly to avert the doom that is facing us.
Finally I have been startled by the blames/responses directed to the federal government and I do not totally agree because I believe that all hands should be on deck towards revamping our nation, from the man on the pulpit to the man on the street, basically wherever we find ourselves we should use our office to serve not just for our own enrichment but affecting others positively which automatically will start rubbing off on the environment and progressive development can thrive.this is the only way forward and this I believe is called genuine repentance without which no man can enter into the Kingdom of GOD
