Nairaland General › Re: True Story: I Lost ₦400,000 And Two Friendships by harsysky(m): 6:52am On Oct 23
YoungestPapa:
I have been in the exact same situation as your friend.

I borrowed 200k from a close friend and things didn't go as planned, in fact i didn't recover from my financial slumber for years. During this time as much as i didn't want to lose our friendship, i tried avoiding him.

You have to understand that the person who is been owed would always ask from time to time his money, but what if you, the borrower is in a position where you cannot pay the money because you are dirt poor? The human feeling in that situation for the borrower is not try to be more friendly with you, because he is dying with immense guilt and embarrassment. He may be your bone man, but his feelings make him stay away. This may still happen even if you assure him not to worry about it.

I tried to stay friends with my friend, but i know that many times i avoided him and he knew the reason. Fortunately, he has an amazing level of maturity and so over the years, he wrote off the debt and it made me feel better gisting and sharing old memories with him. As soon as i got into a better position, i sent the money to him after 5 years.

Your friend is only acting that way because he's human. If you know him as a good person, then he still is a good person, but he is terrible guilty and embarrassed with the situation.
As much as you were dying with immense guilt and embarrassment, try to keep intouch without asking for more money. When you have small, send it. You should have paid your friend double that amount to show how sorry you are.

The only person that I delay in paying back is my wife. I rather wouldn't take loans than taking and not pay back.

Agriculture › Re: What Are They Doing To Our Fruits? (picture) by harsysky(m): 8:05pm On Oct 17
foodlum:
The GMO chickens are slowly coming home to roost. Powerful foreign nations and their agents (China and Chinese businessmen, France, UK, UAE etc) sponsoring the armed and violent terrorist groups (masquerading as bandits/herdsmen, ISWAP, Boko Haram) all across Nigeria and many West African countries to violently seize mineral rich territories and illegally mine the mineral resources to siphon overseas are responsible for many of the African continent's incessant violent insurgency.

Among these foreign interests are also GMO foods multinational entities sponsoring the terrorists slaughtering farmers in nutrient rich farmland communities all over Nigeria. The goal is to eradicate organic farming/farmers and replacing them with multinational corporations controlled GMO farming seedlings and systems.

Hello Bill Gates. Hello Monsanto.

All these are part of the pernicious agenda to destroy organic crops in Nigeria and replace with GMO crops thereby making Nigerians 100% dependent on and enslaved to genetically modified foods which supply is fully controlled by foreign entities. The result is future food insecurity and future human genome modifications and manipulations. These powers are immensely wealthy, very violent and will kill anyone who stands in their way or attempts to frustrate their objectives. The bloody mass slaughtering of the inhabitants of fertile farmlands in Nigeria's bread basket regions are all calculated targeted farmland grabs by these terrorist groups for their foreign paymasters.

The Nigerian Chief of Army staff who died in a mysterious air crash was eliminated by these foreign powers. Dude had discovered that the terrorism sweeping across Nigeria is neither religious jihad nor ethnic rivalry but sponsored foreign subversion of Nigeria. He had identified the local collaborators and was working to root them out and shut down the terrorist attacks. Before he could succeed, he was assassinated by air crash. The story is long and convoluted. These forces have almost finished capturing and destroying all Nigeria's breadbasket region farmlands and farmers. No wonder food and agro-produce is becoming scarce and horrendously expensive in that country. The strategy is simple: artificially create excruciating hunger and food scarcity in the country. Starving Nigerians will then eagerly embrace and welcome any food supply solution. In comes the multinational GMO entities with their high yield but non-replantable seedlings engineered to destroy organic crops, organic farmlands, alter human genomes, kill the population slowly....and so forth.
Mariangeles, here lies the answer to your question.

Politics › Re: Peter Obi And Record Of Public Debt In Anambra - Anambra State Government by harsysky(m): 12:59pm On Sep 16
dgr8truth:
The Anambra State Government has every right to respond to Peter Obi's claims, and the public deserves clarity on the state's finances. But a government statement this detailed should be held to the same standard of accuracy and evidence that it demands from the former governor.

There are several issues with this response.

First, the statement says Peter Obi "contracted US$123.77 Billion" in external debt. Yet the government's own table puts the total at US$123,771,179.30 — about US$123.77 million, not US$123.77 billion. That is a thousand-fold difference in a statement specifically intended to establish financial facts.

Second, the government needs to distinguish between a loan being contracted, a loan being disbursed, and money actually being spent. The fact that eight loans were signed during Obi's tenure does not, by itself, establish that the entire face value of those loans was drawn down or spent by his administration. The government should publish the disbursement records and expenditure records if it wants to make that case.

Third, nobody is arguing that a government cannot have debt. In fact, the government's own table shows that the loans were for malaria control, healthcare, education, erosion control, community development and agricultural development. The relevant questions are: How much was actually drawn? What was it spent on? What was the repayment structure? What remained outstanding at handover? And what assets or projects resulted from the borrowing?

Those are questions that can be answered with documents, not rhetoric.

The most interesting issue is the ₦2.13 billion ecological fund.

The government says it obtained a certified statement for First Bank account 2018779464 and that the account was an IGR Consolidated Revenue Account which never contained ₦2.13 billion. Peter Obi, on the other hand, says the account held more than ₦2.13 billion in ecological funds when he left office.

This is precisely where politics should end and accounting should begin.

If the government has the certified bank statement, publish the relevant pages.

Show the transactions around March 2014.

Show whether there was an inflow from the Federal Government.

Show the balance on March 17, 2014.

Show the subsequent transactions.

Show the handover documents.

Then Nigerians can independently determine what happened.

Simply saying, "the account never contained the money," while Peter Obi says it did, leaves the public with two competing assertions. The documentary evidence should settle the matter.

There is another important logical problem. Even if the government establishes that the ₦2.13 billion was not in that particular account, that does not automatically prove that the money was "missing" or that Peter Obi misappropriated it. It establishes a discrepancy that requires further investigation: where was the money received, into which account was it paid, when was it transferred, and who authorised the transaction?

Likewise, on salaries, pensions and gratuities, the government should publish a proper reconciliation. Tell us exactly what was owed as at March 17, 2014, when each liability originated, what Obi's administration verified, what it paid, and what remained outstanding.

The same principle applies to the alleged ₦75 billion savings. Rather than dismissing it as "creative accounting," publish the bank balances, investment certificates, treasury instruments and other financial assets that constituted the claimed savings at handover, together with the liabilities against them.

And yes, it is campaign season. We will inevitably see people defending their preferred political parties and candidates. Already, you will see APC supporters coming here to repeat whatever narrative suits their political allegiance, just as supporters of other parties do. But we should be careful not to allow partisan loyalty to replace critical thinking.

This politics of hatred, character assassination and deliberate image-tarnishing will not help our democracy. We should do better.

Governor Soludo is entitled to support whoever he chooses politically. It is already clear from his political alignment that he supports President Tinubu, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Every politician has the constitutional and democratic right to make political choices.

But government should not be turned into a vehicle for settling political scores or damaging the reputation of a former governor simply because he has become a political opponent.

Peter Obi is a former governor of Anambra State. His record should be examined objectively—just as the records of every other administration should be examined. If there are financial discrepancies, investigate them. If there are debts, publish the figures. If there is evidence of wrongdoing, present it. If there are claims that are false, disprove them with documents.

But let us move away from the politics of my party must be right and your person must be wrong."

Politics should be about accountability, evidence and ideas—not hatred.

The debate should not be:

"Peter Obi said this, Soludo's government said that."

It should be:

"Here are the audited accounts. Here are the bank statements. Here are the loan agreements. Here are the disbursement records. Here are the handover documents. Here is the reconciliation. Now let Nigerians examine the evidence."

That is the standard every government, every politician and every political supporter should be willing to meet.

Political arguments will come and go, but public money belongs to the people. The citizens of Anambra deserve the documents, the numbers and a transparent reconciliation—not competing political narratives.
Aptly written. I want them , the Governors, to even show the true evidences so that we can be sure Obi is fraudulent but they've not . It's really shameful for someone like Soludo who has head the CBN not to match his words with proof.

The problem is not tribal identity or group betrayal as such
Christianity in its ideal configuration is not a political religion. It's rather a religion of personal salvation and testimony.
There is no part of the Christian text or the life of its central figure that makes political expansion or consideration a tenet of pursuit for the Christian.
There's no group interest in Christianity that is commanded by Jesus which involves any form of political triumphalism
That's the basic fact. Funny enough those advocating that we separate religion from politics are the Muslims. Yet they are the one who have no problem with someone using their religion to play politics.
It's an Islamic issue and Christians don't need to react likewise after all, a bad tree cannot bear good fruit and you don't go low with those who choose to.

Politics › Re: Rufai Oseni Pissed Off Over Peter Obi's Interview by harsysky(m): 5:57pm On Jul 27
CharlesCNG:
RUFAI FINALLY DISCOVERS BLUEPRINTLESS PETER: NIGERIA CANNOT RUN ON VIBES. by CharlesCNG.

For years, Rufai Oseni appeared to provide Peter Obi with one of his most comfortable media platforms.

Obi could recite foreign statistics, describe Nigeria’s problems, announce ambitious targets and promise to move the country from consumption to production. His statements were frequently celebrated as evidence of exceptional intelligence.

But one essential question was often left hanging:

How, precisely, would he achieve these promises?

Then Obi faced Seun Okinbaloye in a serious national interview.

Suddenly, broad aspirations met direct follow-up questions.

Obi promised to end insecurity. He was asked how.

He spoke about power generation, agriculture, manufacturing and affordable credit. He was asked for the implementation pathway, institutional framework, funding and measurable targets.

The answers did not match the confidence of the promises.

Now even Rufai Oseni has reportedly reached the same conclusion:

“I didn’t see the how. We can’t run a country on vibes.”

Exactly.

Nobody expects a presidential candidate to reveal secret military operations, intelligence sources or classified security tactics. But voters are entitled to understand the broad architecture of his programme.

What policing reforms will he introduce?

How will intelligence agencies be coordinated?

How will his power targets be financed?

Which institutions will provide affordable credit?

What are the timelines and measurable outcomes?

These are not attempts to steal Obi’s ideas. They are the basic questions citizens should ask anyone seeking the presidency.

Rufai is right, but his discovery came late.

For too long, sympathetic interviewers and commentators treated Peter Obi’s descriptions of problems as solutions and his foreign comparisons as implementation plans.

They helped inflate the political balloon that Seun’s interview finally punctured.

It was like praising a student throughout rehearsals, only to discover during the external examination that he memorised the introduction but never studied the calculations.

Rufai helped nurture the myth.

Seun conducted the examination.

And Blueprintless Peter supplied the demarketing material.
Let's assume you are right. Tell us the candidate that has come up with clear cut plans on how to run the nation. You have the floor.
