Ok, i thought u were the guy I boarded same vehicle with to Onne. How far? Were u selected. |
Oga make I shout 'MUTUA'? Mutua na death o. U no tender reach there be that oh! The day I shall meet u in person whether in Navy, Army or Airforce, after giving u compliment, i go nacker at least 70 push ups for u, then i go do hanging for u for at least for 2 minutes, because u are truly a worthy oscar double foxtro india chally... @JuliusL. My friend also ran. We were practicing the fitness exercise together in our room then, and I was happy he did well. JuliusL, Like I know, you live in Abj around Nyanya? |
Juliuslongman, I dnt know the criteria. Bros, jst being curious and hoping for my room mate, a doctor, to be called upon. At least, he finished the whole exercise. U remember Tobi? Omo the guy worry that day, almost insulted the doctor who wanted to jeopardise his effort. The guy no participate in the fitness test, bt him name show for list. Na God win for am. |
Morning SIRS Boss tenderlaw, u are indeed tender to everyone here, I hope u will be tender too in giving laushi :-D,all the Subis in the making!! Pls Boss from ur experience, those who would be invited via SMS, are they going to report to camp same day as those listed on the website? Or would they be given a different day to report? |
Cant really access the site. Would like to check for the names of my guys. Big congrats to u cadets, once again. |
Congrats to Tobi from Bayelsa State and the rest of the newest cadets. God will see u through. |
Omoh Pijay, u are on ur own oh!! U wan buy job for urself? As a potential cadet, there is nothing like FOI for u. Remember, u were told at Onne, u were now a para-military. Dnt assume urself a civilian. Once u step into camp u will be stripped off ur fundamental human rights, that is, they will suspend the constitution on ur body. Wait to buy jobs for ur course mates as a cadet and not now, u hear? Well, I know say u jst dey joke. Good afternoon. |
Pijay, u too much ooh. All this ur first hand info is reassuring. U are highly connected with God and human. Make I hear sey ur name no dey there na im be sey no list for this year be that!! Remember I once projected that training might be in March. I don't think the military will embark on any project without the implementation of its budget. Training of its personnels requires funds. For me, I think as soon as the budget is passed the list will be released. Probably, the Navy secretary's trips is to take care of logistics before any trainings begin, be it SD or DSSC. Good luck guys especially 'Sub-Lt Pijay.' |
Oga Tenderlaw, I've taken ur word. U must be right. The reason why I opened this thread this morning is because I had a dream last night that the list is out. I saw how guys scrambled to be on a single file on the parade ground on the first day of reporting. And 99% of my dreams on serious issues play out real. It's a gift from God. Congrats guys! |
Oga T.chopo, this one wey u dey remember their food timetable, i hope u are not tall Anambra dude who after eating would re-queue for another ration?:-) just kidding... By the info I got, everything is set, na signal them dey wait for from Oga at the top. |
I copy Sir! @Boss tenderlaw. But what is the duration of the training? |
Speculations, speculations every where!! Guys, relax... The list will definitely come out soon. In case it comes out in March, perhaps they want to commission DSSC Course 23 along side the current Midship men this year September. NDA usually commissions its cadets every September. Given the time frame of the training, and when the Midship men will be passing out, the Navy may not want to have two presidential commissionings within short intervals. I have seen it happen before. |
Perhaps, I need some education Oga tenderlaw on those words. Which is what pls? |
But while at Onne, a Lt. Commander acknowledged the need for us to have a sub-marine in the future. I think they are usually drawn from the marine corp. They're are specially trained. Most advanced nations have it and don't think it will be a bad idea if we do too, being the 'the Giant of Africa.' The Lt.commander told us a story of how American Sub-marines invaded our sea for months. Our navy got to know much later which is dangerous for security on the sea. And when our government queried, the Americans claimed they didn't mean any harm. We could be attacked by sub-marines without us even realising it. If we had the sub-marines, they could have stopped these guys. Just like we have the special forces now-You can't compare them with ordinary soldiers in weapon handling. They are the most dreaded men in the fight against insurgency. I don't think we had them in the 70s and 80s. The world is changing fast, so is tactics of war! |
Pijay, the Navy says the minimum height for male is 1.70m and I'm 1.72m. Like the jentleman said all those with the problems u highlighted were told. Last wk Wednesday, we were mustered say around 5p.m and abt 15 candidates were ordered to go to the medical centre again, according to the Commodore 'they wanted to get somethings right, and that they wanted to give everybody an equal opportunity,' and on Thursday, now, the Doctor came, called abt 20 candidates with supposed flat feet. He got a bucket of water and started testing them for flat foot. Many of us weren't called for all this drama. There was this girl with glaring flat feet, bt becos of her 'backbone' she participated in the fitness test. She was the only candidate called on Thursday who participated in the fitness test. For me, this is double standard! And then, on the d-day 138 candidates were declared unfit with a vast majority told by the rude doctor who also can neither see very well without his recommended glasses: 'I dnt have anything to tell u...The Navy gave us a guideline on what to do and some of u just didn't meet a criteria (criterion).' |
@Tenderlaw, thanks for giving me hope again for ur statement. I followed up with some of the test at Onne, except for the blood and urine tests.I thought I had mysteriously contracted the much dreaded HIV or Hepatitis B/C. I suffered some trauma not because I got screened out, bt because I thought of what my family would be like if I were truly ill. I mean... what would I have told my wife? Thanks to God, I ran series of test yesterday which came out clean. The navy should have done better rather than toil with peoples' lives by pronouncing some candidates not fit when nothing is actually wrong with them beside their documentation. I know better now. I got screened out because i have 2.2 instead of the advertised 2.1 |
@Tenderlaw, today was a sad one for some of us. We lost one of our own who did everything he could to make the first box, but died instantly. However I was screened out alongside 138 candidates. I wonder wht the criteria is for the med test. The doctor at the medical centre blatantly refused to let most of us know why we failed the test except for those with flat feet, eye problem and height. These were the only ones they told why they failed the test. I know of a guy with high BP. He was tested more than 3 times, when he was asked to come back for the fourth time, the youngman whisked away, and talked to a friend with a normal BP, who stood in for him. Ironically, at the end of the race, the guy with the high BP, came over all first. He beat the time. Some peeps who failed the med. test from some states were later called to participate in the fitness test. My BP is 135/65. Could it be the reason why I was disqualified? I'm asking because I was never called back for a re-run of my BP test like they did for some candidate. I know I dnt have HIV or Hepatitis B, because I was tested only last month when i donated blood to my wife when she gave birth. I jst took some blood tonic tabs few days to the tests. I think the Navy owe us the duty to tell us of our infirmities rather than leave us in the dark. Is this a standard medical practice? When I get home, I shall visit a hospital to do a thorough test. I don't just feel bad because of myself, but because of some two innocent guys that followed up their case to the latter, especially one Toby from Bayelsa. He was surely short changed because of the medics' errors. He was apologised to, bt already the evil deed had been meted out to him. He was tested for flat feet 4 times yesterday evening and the careless doctor confirmed him fit. I was there! But this morning he was screened out and he took the matter up, the Doc. just tendered an apology bt the youngman didnt participate in the fitness test. The guy was very furious. |
Tenderlaw, I salute u Sir!! Sorry, I didn't know that u're an officer already. Not every one will be committed to ensuring that people succeed when one is already in the system. You shall be outstanding among your mates in your military career, for God sees the heart of a man; U're too good. Pls, how do they test the eye? My left eye itches sometimes. Visited an optemetrist twice, yet no improvement; as a child, I had a deep cut on my buttock which was stitched. I hope it won't affect my medicals? Can one smile when any of d panelists make humorous remarks abt one? wht is d maximum number of sit up and push up, are we going to use our knuckles for push up or with our palms on d ground? Much respect Sir! |
Tenderlaw, your pieces of advice on this forum have been wonderful. God bless you. I hope you also made it? My name is there. I give God the praise. It's my first attempt and I'm optimistic that I will succeed at the end. But pls, some clarification is needed here. They say we should come with a set of cutlery. Are we to come with the whole bulk or a piece of each of a set(dinner fork n knife, dessert fork n spoon, soup spoon(not ladle) and bread knife). Thanks. |
Tenderlaw, were u shortlisted for the screening at Onne last year?If yes, were candidates asked to present their forms again? The tussle to see an officer to sign my form again gives me fever. The last signing was tug of war! |
Thanks tenderlaw and profmallam. U are great people wth experience. Will we be required to go to Onne with our application forms? I submitted my original copy on the day of the aptitude test. Pls I need ur kind reply so I know what to do on time Thanks. |
Fellow Officers in the making, pls calm ur nerves. There are regular cadets from NDA at Onne at present who will be commissioned on September 19, that is, jst next month. I dont think the names will be out until they leave Onne. Now, this is a fact and not on hear-say. By God's grace I'll be in Kaduna to celebrate with a friend on his Passing Out Parade (POP). If u take any form of hard drugs, stop it now cos ur blood will be tested. Stay fit by exercising and Pray to God for His face to shine on u. All the best to all of us! |
