Blood contains three kinds of cells namely;
1.Red blood cells or Erythrocytes (main fxn is to transport oxygen around the body),
2. White blood cells or Leucocytes ( main fxn is defense)
3. Platelets or Thrombocytes.(main fxn is in blood clot formation during injuries to prevent unnecessary blood loss)
Garlic contains chemicals that affects Platelets or thrombocytes, thereby reducing their efficiency in clot formation when necessary. Excessive or long term use of garlic, aspirin, warfarin or products that contain these chemicals can reduce the number of Platelets in ur blood and increase the risk of bleeding especially in pregnancy. A reduced amount of thrombocytes or Platelets is called thrombocytopenia.
