They should forget all this union drama it has clearly not helped ordinary Nigerians. Look at Dangote’s cement companies: he ran them without union interference and they’re performing far better than most government establishments weighed down by union politics.

Dragging unionism into a private business is unnecessary and destructive. Freedom of association doesn’t mean holding someone’s company hostage; the owner has every right to protect his business and let go of anyone disrupting productivity. Instead of stifling progress with endless demands and strikes, unions should focus on fixing the dead government-run refineries and other collapsing sectors where their influence has failed.

Private businesses that create jobs and contribute to the economy should be allowed to thrive without being strangled by outdated union tactics.

Unions, as every association, are primarily responsible for their own members, not the general public. I cannot understand why you what the union to fight for Nigerians. That's not the mandate for which they were founded. Your president is responsible for you. Make demands.

Unions are created to ensure better life for workers. Total, SPDC, Chevron, Exon Mobil and NLNG are just to mention but a few companies that have unions and still thrive. The assumption that the union to kill the company is unfounded.

I have once worked in a facility without a union. Workers are abused, overworked, and under-rewarded. Safety was secondary and we were in constant fear for our lives while the company makes billions.

I must mention that these companies in the Oil and Gas industry have money and a lot of it. I don't know what Dangote is afraid of. If taking care of workers' welfare is such a problem, then that's a shame.

PENGASSAN should leave Dangote alone. The Dangote Refinery is a private business, not a union-run venture. Instead of targeting him, focus on the government-owned refineries under your members’ management — most of which are non-functional.

If PENGASSAN truly wants to make an impact, push the government to revive Nigeria’s refineries. Ordinary citizens gain nothing from endless strikes; they only enrich union leaders while making life harder for the people. Nigerians need solutions, not distractions.

1. The union is not created to make impact on ordinary Nigerian. Nigerians, when tired, will rise up and make their voices heard.

2. Freedom of association is a right guaranteed by the constitution. It is Dangote who should leave his staff alone to express their fundamental right.

3. If you or Dangote has a problem with it, you would need to amend the constitution. That's where the focus should be.

read slowly again… The policies are not designed to target only Nigerians,In fact, Nigerians are not even among the top migrants to the USA, so trying to make it seem like a Nigerian issue is nonsense.

That you do not know how it affects Nigerians is not a problem but try and see it from others' perspective.

About half of my graduating class travelled abroad with this visa. I'm working and grinding everyday for this visa. That you only know the education route doesn't mean a large number of Nigerians are not affected by this.

It doesn't matter who it's targeted at, this decision has real consequences on us. One of the most disheartening things is coming online to see people with little knowledge of a subject being the loudest.

No, i dont think say i wise. But years of weekly fire drills especially in an industry where safety is always at the forefront has made my reactions to unscheduled drills automatic. I do not carry my laptop, my bag or anything personal. I am not a trained fire fighter so i dnt run to carry the extinguisher. I simply file out using the fire escape until i reach the muster point. And await further instructions. It might seem wise to you, but it's the norm for us.
It should be the norm everywhere. Change in your office can start with you.

I have worked in the oil and gas industry where drills are a big deal too. The day there was a risk of an explosion in the plant was when I understood that drill are good but do not accurately simulate reality and things get ugly quickly when people panic. So, basically, there's nothing special about the drills you do.

I don't pray you experience it through. It's a horror you'd be traumatized by forever.

Very good. How can 2 federal bodies fail to agree on allowing graduates gain admission into law school... The law students are just doing the right thing.

If at all the Council for Legal Education has reservations, they can subject NOUN law graduates to entrance exams to make sure they're up to par with regular graduates, end of story.

Open University in the UK is producing lawyers every year, Law isn't rocket science. They need to do the right thing and stop discriminating against a federal institution.

They don't even need to subject graduates to another exam. That will amount to prejudice, discrimination ,and will be a reference point to the quality of graduates of the school.

What needs to be done is to either scrap the programme or make a periodic review to ensure standard is met.

These things are easy. If the programme must become slightly more rigorous, then so be it. It's a total waste of precious time to study law and not be able to practice.

The law has been in place since 2007. In fact, it was proposed as far back as 2003, but implementation was suspended in 2004 due to a strike by the NLC and several lawsuits.

If you've been paying it since 2007, then why are some people talking about January 2026??

We can make all the excuses but freedom of association is a fundamental right. And that an organization would choose to infringe on it is exactly why the unions must exist.

PENGASSAN AND NUPENG trying to ensure or force dangote staff to join their union is illegal as it is illegal for dangote to stop her staff from joining any union.

If I were to be dangote, I will offer incentives for not join either PENGASSAN OR NUPENG. They can unionise amongst themselves but shouldn't join this 2 greedy unions that have held nigeria to ransome.

There is no worker in the world who does not want to be protected by a union. It becomes even suspicious when the entire workforce says they don't want to join the union.

The Senate is complicit, and even if they were not, it's the president who will sign the bill. It's a tragedy.

Exactly what i am complaining about. That thing doesn't make sense at all. These institutions issue certificates to thousands of people yearly, and millions of people already have the name of those schools in their certificates. Imagine waking up and discovering that your prestigious university e g UNIMAID had been renamed to Buhari university. It is almost as if your school does not exist anymore as it has been changed to something else by one person that woke up and wished to change the name as he wants just because he has the power to do so. That is pathetic.

They should name non certificate issuing institutions or places after these people, by that one no body will complain E.g roads, stadiums, conference centers, or even airports are manageable too because airport doesn't give people certificate.

Imagine one person certificate carry Tai Solarin, another person own na Sikiru, and na the same school. Is that not confusion. Universities should only be renamed after a widespread consultation and only when it is very very necessary to do so.

Look at Poly Ibadan. These politicians have gone out of their minds. The Polytechnic Ibadan so much prides itself with that name that it has become a brand. Makinde woke and and says it will now be Olunloyo. I hear the names of some schools now and I wonder if it's a bakery or biscuit company.


Every week, they are now renaming one tertiary institution or the other.
