Zimbabwe Ex-President Robert Mugabe Dies Aged 95

Robert Mugabe, who led Zimbabwe with an iron fist from 1980 to 2017, has died aged 95, the country’s president announced Friday.

First heralded as a liberator who rid the former British colony of Rhodesia of white minority rule, Mugabe used repression and fear to hold on to power in Zimbabwe until he was finally ousted by his previously loyal military generals.

“It is with the utmost sadness that I announce the passing on of Zimbabwe’s founding father and former President… Robert Mugabe,” Emmerson Mnangagwa said in a tweet.

“Mugabe was an icon of liberation, a pan-Africanist who dedicated his life to the emancipation and empowerment of his people. His contribution to the history of our nation and continent will never be forgotten.”

Mugabe had been battling ill health, and his humiliating fall from office in November 2017, his stamina seeped away rapidly. He was hospitalised in Singapore for months for an undisclosed ailment, Mnangagwa had confirmed earlier this year.

No further details were immediately available about the circumstances of his death, or where he died.

The Mugabe years are widely remembered for his crushing of political dissent, and policies that ruined the economy.

The former political prisoner turned guerrilla leader swept to power in the 1980 elections after a growing insurgency and economic sanctions forced the Rhodesian government to the negotiating table.

In office, he initially won international plaudits for his declared policy of racial reconciliation and for extending improved education and health services to the black majority.

But that faded as rapidly as he cracked down on opponents, including a campaign known as Gukurahundi that killed an estimated 20,000 dissidents.

The violent seizure of white-owned farms turned Mugabe into an international pariah — though his status as a liberation hero still resonates strongly in most of Africa.

Aimed largely at placating angry war veterans who threatened to destabilise his rule, the land reform policy wrecked the crucial agricultural sector, caused foreign investors to flee and helped plunge the country into economic misery.

All along, the Mugabe regime was widely accused of human rights violations and of rigging elections.

The topic of his succession was virtually taboo during Mugabe’s decades-long rule, and a vicious struggle to take over after his death became clear among the ruling elite as he reached his 90s and became visibly frail.

Buhari Mourns Zimbabwe Ex-President Robert Mugabe

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent condolences to the government and people of Zimbabwe over the passing of the founding father and former President, Robert Mugabe.

Robert Mugabe’s death was announced earlier on Friday by the country’s President, Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Mr Mugabe was 95-years-old as at the time of his death.

In a statement by his special aide, Mr Femi Adesina, President Buhari commiserated with family members, friends and political associates of the political activist who fought for the independence of the country from colonial rule, and lived most of his life in public service.

President Buhari stated that he believes Mugabe’s sacrifices, especially in struggling for the political and economic emancipation of his people, will always be remembered by posterity.

He prayed that the Almighty God will grant the soul of the former president rest and comfort his loved ones.

Celebrities / Khafi To Face Disciplinary Action For Partaking In Bbnaija – Met Police by Helpfromabove(m): 9:40pm On Aug 13, 2019
Khafi Kareem, a contestant in the ongoing Big Brother Naija reality show, is currently being investigated by Scotland Yard for appearing on the show without permission, Evening Standard is reporting.

Ms Kareem, a Met police officer, was refused permission to appear on the show by her superiors.

Scotland Yard said it had not granted her request to appear on the programme and that an internal investigation would be carried out.

Ms Kareem, from Ekiti State, was pictured alongside Commissioner Cressida Dick when the Met celebrated 100 years of women in the force last November.

The 29-year-old, who joined the force as a police constable in 2015, was filmed allegedly having steamy on-screen romps with fellow contestant Ekpata Gedoni, 31, while appearing on the show.

But the organisers denied that it happened.

The UK Sun newspaper further reported that Khafi’s alleged sex romps with Gedoni on the show have further incensed her colleagues and bosses for bringing the force into disrepute.

An unnamed colleague of the Scotland Yard officer told the Sun, “She’s a serving British police officer – it’s outrageous.

“She asked permission to go on the show but, when her request was refused, she went anyway.”

The Met said Ms Kareem was granted unpaid leave for an “unrelated reason” ahead of appearing on the show but her request to take part in the programme was denied.

A spokesman said, “A Pc, attached to the Met’s transformation command, requested permission to take part in a reality television entertainment show in Nigeria. Permission was not given.

“The Met is aware that the officer has since appeared on the show without authority.

“The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed and will be carrying out an investigation into the circumstances.

“The Met does not support the officer’s appearance nor does she represent the Met whilst appearing on the show.”

The force added that any officer found to have breached police standards of professional behaviour could face misconduct proceedings.

A post on the website of Africa Magic, the television channel which broadcasts Big Brother Naija, said Ms Kareem joined the show “so that she can do societal good”.

The post also stated that Ms Kareem would spend the prize money, about N30 million (£68,000), on hosting a travel show in Nigeria, as well as investing in charitable causes. In London, she is on a yearly salary of £30,000.

Autos / Sanwo-olu Declares Another Free Passage At Lekki, Ikoyi Toll Plazas On Wednesday by Helpfromabove(m): 10:05pm On Jul 16, 2019
SANWO-OLU DECLARES ANOTHER FREE PASSAGE AT LEKKI, IKOYI TOLL PLAZAS ON WEDNESDAY

In furtherance of Lagos State Government’s real time traffic simulation survey being carried out with the aim of reducing traffic congestion around the Lekki-Epe and Ikoyi axes, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has again approved the opening of Lekki and Ikoyi toll gates during peak hours on Wednesday 17th July 2019.

A statement signed by the Governor’s Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile stated that a toll-free passage at the toll plaza on Lekki-Epe Expressway and the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge would run between 6:30am and 9:30am in the morning, and also at the peak period in the evening (4:30pm to 7.30pm).

The statement reads: “Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared toll free for all motorists going and coming out of Lekki axis during rush hours tomorrow, Wednesday 17th of July 2019 to allow the State’s consultants complete the traffic simulation survey that was started a couple of weeks ago.

The toll free hours, Sanwo-Olu stated, is to allow traffic consultants to the government carry out a comprehensive study of traffic flow around Lekki-Ikoyi-Victoria Island axes, which is part of the initiatives the government is bringing to diffuse vehicular gridlock in major Business Districts in the State.

According to the Governor, the cost of the toll fees for the study period will be borne by the government.

Recall that Governor Sanwo-Olu said the State was undertaking a traffic study with a group of experts to know where the traffic would go when the tollgates are left open for steady movement.

“It is only when we do this activity at the peak hour that we will be able to understand how to deal with congestion in these places,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The Governor said the undertaking was necessary for the government to take actions that would lead to reduction of traffic on the axes by 50 per cent. The resultant effect, he said, would lead to decrease in travel time and improved productivity.

“We are restating our commitment to bringing about a quick journey time through our traffic solution. The way we want to do it is to have an online real-time study of what the issues are. We are going to analyse the dimension of observed challenges and discuss next steps of solution we are bringing,” the Governor said.

Lagos declares free tolls at Lekki-Ikoyi Tollgates

…Move Aimed At Studying Traffic Flow

…Govt To Introduce Electronic Toll Collection At Ikoyi Link Bridge

Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has declared toll free for motorists going and coming out of Lekki axis during rush hours on Thursday.

The Governor declared a toll-free passage at the toll plaza on Lekki-Epe Expressway and the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge between 6:30am and 9:30am in the morning, and also at the peak period in the evening (4:30pm to 8pm).

The Governor disclosed this during a tour that followed a stakeholders’ meeting on regeneration of the Lekki-Oniru and parts of the Victoria Island as solution to the perennial traffic gridlock and flooding issues around the Lekki and Ajah areas.

The objective, according to Governor Sanwo-Olu is to allow traffic consultants to the government carry out a comprehensive study of traffic flow around Lekki-Ikoyi-Victoria Island axes, which is part of the initiatives the government is bringing to diffuse vehicular gridlock in major Business Districts in the state.

The cost of the toll fees for the study period will be borne by the government, Sanwo-Olu said.

The Governor said: “Tomorrow being Thursday, the toll plazas on the Ikoyi Link Bridge and Lekki-Epe Expressway will be left open between 6:30am and 9:30am in the morning and also between 4:30pm and 8:00pm in the evening. This is to allow us to do a real simulation of traffic study in these areas that usually witness high density of vehicular movement daily.

We are currently undertaking a traffic study with our experts and we want to know where the traffic goes to when the tollgates are left open for steady movement. It is only when we do this activity at the peak hour that we will be able to understand how to deal with congestion in these places.”

Sanwo-Olu said the undertaking was necessary for the government to take actions that would lead to reduction of traffic on the axes by 50 per cent. The resultant effect, he said, would lead to decrease in travel time and improved productivity.

“Our government wants to bring about a quick journey time through our traffic solution. The way we want to do it is to have an online real-time study of what the issues are. We are going to analyze the dimension of observed challenges and discuss next steps of solution we are bringing,” the Governor said.

As part of the measures being initiated to achieve free flow of traffic, Sanwo-Olu hinted that the mode of toll collection at the Ikoyi-Link Bridge would completely go electronic, disclosing that a new method of payment would take off in October. The Governor urged motorists plying the route to apply ahead for electronic access cards at Lagos Tolling Company in compliance with the new service.

He said: “In October, the partners that we are working with will introduce a software that will allow electronic collection of toll fees. This means that motorists will not be paying cash. The process to implement this is on, and we will come up with a seamless electronic solution. We are giving three months notice to residents and motorists to prepare ahead. By the time this is done, we believe some of the bottlenecks in and around Ikoyi would be reduce and we are hoping there would be free flow of traffic.”

He added that the size of the roundabout at the Admiralty road would be reduced for the purpose of traffic diffusion.

The Governor also visited the scene of last week Monday flood in Abraham Adesanya Junction to inspect the cause of the clogged drainage in the area. Sanwo-Olu said Office of the Drainage Services had been given a task to ensure free flow of water in the clogged drainages and canals in Ajah area.

He said: “Our stop at Abraham Adesanya Junction in Ajah area was to take necessary assessment of the condition of drainage in the area. We have identified things we need to do to have free flow of water from the area to the lagoon. We are also looking at reduction of the size of the roundabout there. We are coming out with a comprehensive traffic and drainage solutions at the Abraham Adesanya area.

“We have had several complaints about how long it takes people moving around Ajah Bus Stop. We are going to push a major layby, where we can take commercial vehicles off the road. We have realized that commercial vehicles are the major cause of traffic at the spot. We are going to push the layby there and cut it off, so that motorists moving inward to Victoria Island can have an easy way. We are looking at both lanes to reduce journey time.”

Joining the governor in the tour included the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Folashade Jaji, Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, and Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Gboyega Soyannwo, among others.

Culture / Sleep With Ooni’s Ex-queen, Die Prematurely — Ifa Priest by Helpfromabove(m): 10:01pm On Sep 06, 2017
An Ifa priest, Yemi Elebuibon, has declared that any man who sleeps with the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, Zaynab Otiti-Obanor, faces death.

The Ifa devotee also noted that the former queen must undergo some cleansing rituals with any man before they can become intimate.

In addition, he said the cleansing process is necessary to enable the Olori to regain a normal life.

Mr. Elebuibon, who is also an actor, declared the consequence of a queen separating from a king in an interview with The Sun.

The former Ife queen popularly called Olori Wuraola Ogunwusi reverted to her maiden name in August after confirming that her marriage to the Ooni has broken down irretrievably.

While noting that Ooni would not be the first Yoruba Oba to be separated from his wife, Mr. Elebuibon said that marriage breakup is not very common among Yoruba Obas.

He said, “The wife of the Oba will be asked to consult Ifa and Ifa will give directions on how she will make the necessary atonement for her cleansing. In Yoruba tradition, a woman who has been married to a king cannot lay with any other man even if the marriage breaks up. But when the right atonements have been made, there won’t be any problem.”

On the kind of problems which an Oba’s ex-wife might encounter if she refuses to undergo the traditional cleansing rites, Mr. Elebuibon said: “For the woman, she might not really have a problem but for any man who sleeps with a queen or marries an ex-queen without the appropriate cleansing, the man may die prematurely, he may be struck with sickness or there might be retrogression in his life.”

He explained that if an ex-queen wants to remarry, she would have to do the cleansing with her new husband.

”Both of them have to take part in the atonement procedures so that they won’t have any future problem. Any marriage she would be going into must not be elaborate. They should go far away and avoid any flamboyant wedding,” Elebuibon warned.

The Ooni got married to his now estranged Edo bride at an elaborate traditional marriage which held in Benin, the Edo State capital on March 16, 2016

Wuraola, who is in her mid-30s, is from the Igun N’ Eromwon, a Benin bronze casters family.

The weeks of rumours and denials on the crash of the royal union between the revered monarch, and his beautiful wife, were put to rest on August 30, 2017 when the latter declared she was out of the marriage on Instagram.

The Ooni in a recent media statement said he would comment on the break-up at the appropriate time.

monchazfarms:
@ OP,first of all,I salute your courage.Secondly,I want to critisizee and aa well pass some vital information /advice to you because that's what you need to become stronger and resilient in your chosen business and I'm doing so because I'm also into the business and has a little advice to offer.

I'll critisize you on the following:
1.You shouldn't have started with point of lay birds if you're a first timer because poultry business is a practical one which requires first hand information and starting with older birds won't let you have the experience you need.

2.Most point of lay birds aren't given the complete and required vaccination and this has a tendency to affect the birds in future if your source is unreliable

3.From your analysis, you started this business this August and that tells you're unaware of the market trends before tasting the depth of the river with both legs: there has been egg glut (excess egg production) in the market since February this year up till now,the worse of its kind.

4.Be ready to battle with any disease(s)/ virus associated with the farm you rented if you didn't fumigate and disinfect the farm before bringing in your birds.

5.Your birds were supposed to attain 1.5kg or 1,500g at 18 or 19 weeks, this implies that your birds weren't properly fed by the sellers/brooders and this might affect the overall performance of your birds.

6.Your choice of business is good, but your timing is wrong.

Now,take these advise:

1.Keep on giving those birds growers until you attain 50% production,it might sound so ridiculous, but it worked for me.This' to enable you have a better uniformity and also allow those lagging behind to attain sexual maturity. If you start giving them layers feed, lots of your birds might not lay.

2.Give them sangrovit @ the recommended dosage for two weeks.

3.Give them viracid and also spray it all around your pen. This sanitizes the evironment and and takes care of virus, bacteria and protozoa;it's very good.

4.Start looking for customers and ask God for divine direction.

5.Always sanitize their drinking water with Isochlor, but don't vaccinate them with sanitized water.E-coli is a deadly water bourne disease that could kill all your birds if you don't pay close attention to their water.

6.Finally,the Lord is your strenght.I admire your courage.

Honest advice from an experienced poultry farmer and If I may add you are using a three layers Cage and looking at the height of the pen house from the picture you might have heat challenges with the birds on the top layer of the Cage during the dry season
I really satute your courage and bravely but the truth is you are not a farmer but investor and a bold one but please get close to Farmers for advice and try to get a farm manager with lots of experience and that is very truthful
Poultry farming can give you good returns and can also do otherwise
Buying point of lay is not really a good decision and I can never advice anyone on that part because of it's inhenrent risk coupled with the the fact that you rent a pen house
Also pay attention to your feed
If you are still on growers mash keep to it till you achieve around 50 percent but if you change to layer YOU HAVE TO KEEP TO IT CHANGING BACK THEIR FEED TO GROWERS MASH WILL AFFECT THIER SYSTEM
I guess this is the little I can add for now

Religion / 10 Things To Note Before You Attend Rccg’s Holy Ghost Convention by Helpfromabove(m): 8:25am On Aug 07, 2017
*10 THINGS TO NOTE BEFORE YOU ATTEND RCCG’S HOLY GHOST CONVENTION*

I don’t think anyone who has spent over ten years in any country where the gospel has gained ground can claim not to know of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, talk more of their annual convention.

The 65th edition of the Annual Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God is just around the corner and as usual, promises to be an amazing time. The one-week long event would start on Monday, 7th August and end on Sunday, 13th August 2017. The theme for this year’s convention is Hallelujah. This annual convention is always a unique one because it marks the end and beginning of a new calendar year in the RCCG.

As expected, the General Overseer Worldwide, Pastor E.A Adeboye would be ministering live alongside other ministers of God. It will be filled with several sessions of the word, prayer, praise, encounters and more importantly, Hallelujahs.

The Holy Ghost Convention is a yearly event that brings together people from different parts of the world and different denominations to worship and listen to the word of God under the umbrella of the widely known Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Just in case you are preparing to attend this year’s edition, here are 10 things I would love you to note about the Holy Ghost Convention.

*1* Know somebody. The best thing that can happen to you at Holy Ghost Convention asides the encounters with God is to know someone. Your life becomes sweeter when the person is a well-grounded fellow. Most of the top officials in RCCG like Area pastors, Zonal pastors, Unit coordinators, Provincial pastors e.t.c have houses on the camp ground and are guaranteed of their constant feeding (at least, when there’s no general fasting). Not only will this save you stress, money and your health (those mosquitoes in the auditorium aren’t born again o), you would have a blissful spiritual experience. So, quick advice for you – better start clinching with your top officials.

*2* Have enough money. There’s always something beautiful to buy. From books to souvenirs to customized T shirts, lapel pins, bumper stickers, decoders, landed properties and a whole lot more at heavily discounted prices. You don’t want to return home without having something for yourself and your neighbours. Trust me, it’s an experience worth saving for from the beginning of the year.

*3* Eat moderately: You don’t want to be caught on the queue for a mobile toilet whilst Daddy G.O. is preaching or have to walk long distances when there’s no toilet in sight. Point is, don’t eat everything that’s available. The programme is just one week and it’s not an eating competition either. When you get to your house, you can eat as you like; where you are going is a camp ground.

*4* Don’t bring unnecessary gadgets: You are not going to prove a point to anybody. You are going for a spiritual experience so there’s no point coming with all your sophisticated gadgets. Your mobile phone is all right and mind you, it should be guarded with all your mind, all your soul and all your spirit too. LOL. No one is coming to look at how rich your family is; except of course, the thieves.

*5* Dress reasonably: The major reason you are clothing yourself is to cover your unclothedness, protect you from mosquitoes and keep you warm at least for the fact that you’re on camp ground. Please, let it remain so. If you thought you were going for a fashion parade, think twice. Drop all your slay mindset at home and pack only simple shirts and trouser/skirts. Except you don’t mind looking odd or having your fine clothes stained with dust. The dust on the arena alone would destroy whatever slaying you had in mind so, be safe and dress moderately. By the way, except you have a friend or relative who is well mouthed, you might need to trek some distance to transport yourself from one place to the other so no need to bring your heels and brogues too.

*6* Food: You are not packing noodles, biscuits, garri, golden morn and other basic foodstuff in your bag, my question is where do you think you are going to? Trust me, you would eventually get tired of buying meals thrice a day or would need snacks very urgently at some point. Please pack well and don’t have yourself stuck at Redemption camp.

*7* Stay where you know (except you have a guide): If you don’t know, the Redemption camp of the RCCG is a country on its own and your inability to stay in one place can leave you stranded or missing. You think I don’t know what I’m saying abi? You need to ask how many times they announce missing persons on camp. Except you have a tour guide who knows the camp very well, just stay in the place you know quite well.

*8* Try and attend all the sessions: You aren’t going to meet up with friends neither are you going for an Old school reunion. The idea of the whole programme is to edify you so if you are not present for the sessions, my question is; what exactly is wrong with you? I know it’s not easy anyway but it wouldn’t hurt to attend all morning, afternoon and evening sessions knowing it’s just for one week.

*9* Arrive at sessions quite early: It’s a normal attitude for Nigerians to always want to get to programmes late. Holy Ghost Convention isn’t one of those programmes you want to attend sessions late. Seats get filled up in the twinkle of an eye and people will not hesitate to keep seats for their ancestors. Not exactly ancestors though, but you’d be surprised to see a whole row of chairs empty thinking you’ve found a seat until you want to sit and one brother at the corner would give you the “People are there” line. Then you know you’re in for it.

*10* Spend time with God: Redemption camp is a very busy place and you can easily get hooked with some other activity happening on the camp ground. You came for a spiritual experience, ensure you get it. Here, you have more time to spend reading the word, meditating and praying to God. Make the best use of it.

The venue for the event is Redemption Camp, 3km by 3km New Auditorium, Simawa, Km 46 Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, Nigeria.

I wish you all the very best as you join several Christian faithfuls from all over the world to gather for a spiritual experience.
