They will know that Nigerians are seriously tired of Buhari and the APC.

Why do the mods allow some dead vulture griller to constitute nuisance on some threads, like this particular one?

Why allowing one member to fill a thread with thrash and idiocy when thousands (if not millions) of other members also want to make MEANINGFUL contributions to the topic and also want to make it to the front page?

This madness has got to stop!

He has totally destroyed the essence and importance of the thread with meaninglessness!

You mods must do something about this oh!

OP, thanks for this thread!

I have had a lot of experiences as regards this topic; so much that I can't even remember them all.

My first off-campus hostel in Uniben, I just noticed one guy was calling me from afar, asking me to come. Because the guy was a known "men", I obliged him and went to him. On seeing me at close range, he was like, "oh sorry, I think say na...(he called one name which I can't remember).
In fact, I had similar experiences with that kind of people.

When I moved to another hostel, a girl saw me and was like, she had been noticing me and that I had a striking resemblance with her former boyfriend. I was like "shuo". This was no joke oh!

The first time I stepped my feet in Warri, someone saw me and mistook me for another person.

One young man and I alighted from the BRT bus at Ojota a certain afternoon, and it turned out we were heading in the same direction. After few seconds, he looked back and saw me and was like, "guy, how far nah? Na you be this?". On sighting me clearly, he now said, "oh sorry! You resemble person wey I know for Aba". I said, 'obviously not me, cos I have never been to Aba'.

...and many more like that which I can't even remember. People will meet me for the first time and the next thing they will say is that they know my face somewhere which they can't remember. In fact, at a time, it became an issue of concern for me.
Family / Re: Is There Such A Thing As Forgive And Forget? by Hemanwel(m): 9:39am On Sep 11, 2021
I believe some things can be forgiven but may never be forgotten.

Take for instance, a man or woman who caught his or her spouse pants down in adultery. If he/she forgives the person, the memory of such scene will trouble him/her for along time (if not for life), thereby making it hard to forget.

BTW:

The other thread asked people to rate the performance of their governor on a scale of 1-10, and no one rated Sanwo-Olu.

Is it that most people who claim to be Lagosians are just....(make I no talk).

Politics / Re: Ituah Ighodalo: Nigerians Must Vote For President Who Truly Cares by Hemanwel(m): 5:47pm On Sep 10, 2021
Looking for a Nigerian politician who truly cares for the people is like looking for a needle in a hay sack.

What we should do as electorates is to keep trying out new, very educated, intelligent and much younger technocrats for elective positions. One day, we are gonna get it right.

Not some Tinubu, Atiku, Tambuwal, Saraki, etc.

We can't keep electing the same old corrupt politicians and expect an Obama kinda leadership.

Two or Three weeks ago, the unelected governor was in Aso Villa on a courtesy visit to the President.

Today, the President has come to visit Imo State. What is in the offings for ndi Imo?

I'm 101% sure that this visit is unconnected to the 2023 general elections. Neither is it connected to any developmental plans for Imo people. Only time will tell, though!

Dear Sir,
A Call FOR THE SUSPENSION OF IMPENDING ASUU STRIKE
I am writing to you as a NAIRALAND university student in x department to express my views on the ASUU strikes.

While strike action is difficult for us students, as it disrupts our already stressful classes and assessments, I firmly believe this action is necessary as we need to challenge universities to become better employers that value and respect their staff.

In light of this, I implore you to consider offering students compensation for their lost teaching hours, whilst ensuring the lecturer's terms are agreed to.

As students, we are losing out on what we expected when we joined the university - but the buck of this does not fall on our lecturers themselves. The necessity of their strike is something I stand in solidarity with, but also reimbursement for the failure to adequately provide the education I was promised is something I call for. The two can be met - the two fall on the responsibility of management.

Our education system should be one that is funded, accessible and lifelong; a system that reflects the needs of society. We need to protect education together. This is why I fully support ASUU in their strike action and their reasons for striking, however, it is for the good of everyone if the problems that have caused this dispute are reconciled as quickly as possible. This means that you should use the influence you have to write to ASUU and ask them to recommence negotiations. This way, an equitable solution for all parties can be found quickly.

I implore you as chief custodian of the UNIVERSITY to take immediate action AVERT these INTENDING strikes, by instructing those who negotiate on your behalf to back down from imposing the terms they’ve arrived at and re-engage with the GOVERMENT. In the meantime, I fully expect to be financially compensated for the classes missed as a result of the strike.

Yours faithfully,

Good evening nairalanders!

A friend's nephew has asked that I help him with an assignment. They were given this assignment to write to their university's VC on why their lecturers shouldn't embark on any industrial action. What's the template like? How does he go about with the introduction?

So, I have come to this great forum to seek help. Would appreciate if anyone can provide a clue or a link. Thanks.

His outstanding successes have also proven to me that a very very hardworking person can be at per with a naturally talented counterpart.

Politics / Re: Does Ogun State Have The Worst Roads In The South West? by Hemanwel(m): 11:00am On Sep 03, 2021
AnonPoet:
It has been more than 2 years of the Dapo Abiodun Government and it seems this government is hell bent on taking the state back to using bush paths. Yes, the roads in Ogun state are that bad. Sometimes you drive in a state that is supposed to be the gateway state and all you see is just nightmares. It gets worse for communities on the Lagos/Ogun border. Going from Ogun to Lagos, you can tell where Ogun state ends and Lagos begins based on the condition of the roads. It is that bad?

Even the roads in the capital city Abeokuta isn't any different from the joke Ogun state roads has become it is almost as though the Dapo Abiodun Government has decided to punish everyone for crimes no one knows who committed. The roads in Ogun East where is from are reportedly not this bad though. Maybe something else is at play

How else does one explain this?

Even roads which were started by the previous admin have either been abandoned or not completed after years, and mechanic have been having a field day fixing broken down vehicles. Please we need a overhaul of the roads in Ogun state.
Bro, God will bless you multiple times for the bolded part of your post.

You just spoke what has been on my mind.

Is it the massive rigging that takes place unhindered? Which law enforcement agent, electoral umpire, etc, has the guts to challenge them? Not to talk of under-age voting. Abegi!

To start with, going to heaven is not the reward of the saved. This nullifies the argument already.

If the argument was that the 7 things can't saved one, then it's a valid argument. But of course, the writer must explain how those things can't save and what actually saves.

That means you must post the contents of the handbill. That is when it can be proven whether it is true or not.

Your first sentence, though!
