NaijaphiliaBlog: On Monday 8 June 2026, the Government of Oyo State demolished a 3-bedroom bungalow allegedly used as a hideout by kidnappers of the younger sister of Chief Bayo Adelabu (former Minister of Power) and her children.
The property in the Lako Community along Aiyegun-Anaye Road in Ibadan was levelled by officials of the State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, accompanied by Nigeria Police officers.
The demolition follows investigations into the abduction of Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons Peter/Paul at Elewura in Challenge area of Ibadan around 7:30am Wednesday 3 June 2026, while on her way to drop the children at school.
The abductees were all rescued unharmed on Saturday 6 June 2026, and the police subsequently arrested 4 suspected members of the kidnap gang.
The Oyo State Government said the demolition hinges on its resolve to tackle insecurity and dismantle criminal networks operating within the State.
HacheNoire: A Symbol of Destiny: Why President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Image Deserves a Place in Every Altar.
In every nation, there comes a moment when leadership transcends politics and enters the realm of legacy. Nigeria stands at such a crossroads today. Under the stewardship of His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), the country is undergoing reforms and recalibrations that many believe will define its future for generations. The question now is not simply about governance, but about recognition, symbolism, and national unity.
Religious institutions have long served as moral compasses and cultural anchors in Nigerian society. Churches, mosques, and traditional worship centers are not only places of spiritual reflection but also spaces where collective identity is shaped. Historically, these spaces have honored figures who embody sacrifice, courage, and transformational leadership. It is within this context that the idea emerges: should the image of President Tinubu be present in every altar? Supporters argue that such a gesture would symbolize a bridge between faith and national progress.
President Tinubu’s political journey—from his role in strengthening democratic structures to his current efforts at economic reform—has positioned him as a central figure in Nigeria’s ongoing narrative. Placing his portrait in religious spaces would not imply worship, but rather recognition of leadership under divine providence.
Critics, however, raise important concerns about the separation of spiritual reverence and political authority. They caution against elevating any political figure into spaces traditionally reserved for the sacred. For them, altars should remain untouched by temporal power, preserving their role as neutral grounds for faith.
Yet, there is another perspective—one rooted in symbolism rather than literal interpretation. Across history, societies have used imagery to inspire unity and remind citizens of shared responsibility. A portrait in this sense becomes not an object of devotion, but a visual reminder of leadership, accountability, and national direction.
In a country as diverse as Nigeria, where religion plays a central role in daily life, the integration of national symbols into religious consciousness could foster a stronger sense of collective purpose. It invites citizens to see governance not as distant or detached, but as intertwined with moral and ethical aspirations. Ultimately, whether or not President Tinubu’s image belongs in every altar is a matter of personal belief, institutional values, and societal consensus. What is undeniable, however, is the significance of his leadership at this moment in Nigeria’s history. The conversation itself reflects a nation grappling with how best to honor leadership while preserving the sanctity of its spiritual traditions.
The real question may not be about portraits on altars, but about how Nigerians choose to recognize and engage with leadership in a way that strengthens both faith and nationhood.

harsysky: Spot on! Seriously, I don't trust any of them. I have had arguments with my dad on some matters I do not agree with him but I find it somewhat funny that some people supporting some wicked and parasitic politicians keep mum even in the face of evil.
harsysky: People don't seem to know we are all human before we had our individual religious and tribal differences. If I love you as just a human, why should I wish bad against you? Those are what we throw away when these wicked people bring in tribal and religious differences.
This has been what the white has been able to do for themselves. Charity starts from home.
Even religion preaches love and tolerance which means that what politicians do is nothing close to love or tolerance it is pure hatred and wickedness.
They basically spite people against each other because they know it always work.
harsysky: I know. How long, do we accept this forever?
It has come to stay anyways but we just have to fight that urge not to listen their gimmicks.
It is only during election they tell you that you are Yoruba, Ibo or Hausa or tell you that you are Christian or Muslim while in the real sense they don’t actually play those tribal or religious cards amongst themselves.
harsysky: Some days ago, the NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Chief of Staff, Gbajabiamila, visited Ogbomoso without even informing the Governor of the state.
What baffles me is that when it comes to the struggles of ordinary Nigerians—people who have practically become a government unto themselves—there is always division, politics, and blame games. Of course, every Nigerian is now their own government. We provide at least 95% of what the government should be providing: electricity through generators, clean water, healthcare through agbo and other alternatives because the health sector is poorly funded, and security by whatever means we can afford. The list goes on and on.
Yet, when it comes to occasions where politicians are celebrating their children's weddings and other personal milestones, party affiliations suddenly disappear. It's almost as if they are saying, "This doesn't concern the masses, so let's put our differences aside and unite."
I will keep saying it: these people do not love the masses. The least we owe them is to hold them accountable, regardless of whether they belong to our preferred political party or not.
May the evil you support come on you, stay with you and overtake you to your grave
Say a big amen as I have already said mine on your behalf
Some of you just choose to read with your shallow mind or prolly just don’t comprehend at all.
I don’t support Tinubu or Jonathan as I only stated the obvious from the past and present and to your prayers coupled with the amen it doesn’t work that way. It will only work if I support evil just rest and drink your tears.
SouthSouth1914: But you will mindlessly support this government even though insecurity has become so worse at the moment. It is so ironic how you guys painted GEJ’s government yet are doing things far worse off
I have and will never supported this government or Jonathan’s They are the same unless you have other opinions.
Yes you heard me well Insecurity didn’t get any better during his tenure or I should remind you that it was during his tenure that the former NSA Dasuki mismanaged the arms budget.
Freshtruth: President Tinubu’s wife, Remi Tinubu wants Nigerians to praise her husband because he is now sleeping at 3am every day trying to solve Nigeria insecurity problems. “My Husband Now Sleeps At 3am,
I can assure you, we don’t have Mondays or Sundays. The President is working round the clock to get this matter resolved. At times, Mr President will sleep at 3:00am and God has been faithful".
How many hours of sleep does the First Lady think an average Nigerian gets a day.
What about the kidnapped victims who are in the bush for the past 3 months sleeping under the rain, sun and cold.
What about the fathers and mothers who are awake all night thinking about how to feed and pay their children’s school fees.
The president doesn’t should be awake all night if he has to, to make sure Nigerians are protected.

LegendHero: Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal, has predicted a landslide victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
Lawal made the remark while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, shortly after announcing his resignation from the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in a post on his Facebook page.
The former SGF said he had decided to step away from active politics, citing dissatisfaction with the way politics is practised in Nigeria.
According to him, he would rather focus on other pursuits, including agriculture and church-related activities.
“I’ve just come to the conclusion that in Nigerian politics, everybody is… I don’t understand how it’s practised. I don’t know how it should be practised. Maybe there are some Nigerians who know to run their things. I don’t want to be part of anything again,” he said.
Lawal, who was a member of the opposition coalition that recently adopted the ADC as its political platform, argued that Tinubu would be difficult to defeat in the next election.
“Tinubu will win with landslide. If the parameter for winning the election in Nigeria is rigging, nobody can face Bola Tinubu.
“If Atiku’s strength is in manipulating results, he will meet the master leader in the front next year. And so they will be all the worse for it,” Lawal stated.
The former SGF also added that he won’t be supporting me Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC. He said didn’t want to be part of anything again.
“I won’t support Peter Obi. I don’t want to be part of anything again,” Lawal said.
Ofunaofu: We Are Sorry Mummy – Cute Abiola Apologises to Patience Jonathan Over Past Mockery
Patience Jonathan and Cute Abiola Cute Abiola, a Nigerian skit maker, went on social media to apologise to former First Lady Patience Jonathan over past mockery when she spoke about insecurity and kidnappings in Nigeria.
Taking to his Instagram page, the comedian shared a photo of the former First Lady, remembering how she often showed concern during her time in office whenever there were reports of kidnapping and violence.
Back then, some Nigerians on social media often mocked her emotional reactions.
He pointed out that now, with insecurity still affecting parts of the country, many people see her past reactions differently. They now understand her responses as genuine concern for victims and their families, not as a sign of weakness.
He said he was sorry that she had been ridiculed before and thanked her for having the courage to speak up at the time.
Whynotthetruth: ...words on marble....I keep wondering how people like helinus seunmsg etc sleep comfortably after supporting every bad government....No shame...No integrity... Nothing...
On this platform, they promoted and supported everything Buhari did...and within a twinkle of an eye, they're now promoting Tinubu not minding how it contradicts their previous stance...
Once a leader and his followers lack character; then nothing positive should be expected from them... character is everything!!!
They have to work for their paymasters They don’t have minds of their own.
Nigeria should be topping the list of the most dangerous place to live on earth.
It doesn’t make sense to me how group of persons are kidnapped in numbers without being noticed and also sickening to hear from former CDS now Minister of Defence that kidnapping happens everywhere which shows the nonsensical and shallow-minded persons leading this country.
In 2026 where there are a lot of technologies to find crime, Nigeria should have nothing to do with kidnapping unless someone somewhere is using this medium to launder money in cash.
RollinTNDA: If you have a company or business you are running and you want a child that you can handover the business to. Please do everything possible not to born female children only.
Girls are very useless to the family once they marry.
My cousin has a business passed down from his father. . His father is late When he was trying to keep the business running. His sisters were far away in their husbands homes far far away.
He got visa to Finland He was so distressed before he traveled out and whole of us were jubilating for him that he finally japa. He was so worried about his father's business
He said his 2 sisters never cared about the business and he fears if he japa the business will fold. The 2 girls were busy with their families and couldn't come to help him to maintain the business. It hit me whenever I think of it
God forbid if otedola dies Who will run his company? Cuppy?? No Imagine if he has a son like Mr Eazi He will sleep very well knowing his legacy will be protected.
Unless you have no plan of handing over your business to your children. Having girl children is a loss
Are you people even mad? Are y’all not loved at home?
Moderators shouldn’t allow such post because it is hollow and unintelligent.
Proserpina: I think moderators should start taking down this anti women / female threads. It's only on Nairaland I see people boldly preaching against having female children.
AguluLiar: It's a good thing. Jobs will be created for the indigenes
Prolly you have not been to Bayelsa before The roads are very bad and the infrastructure is nothing to write about. Why not build rails to connect cities? Why not build tech centers to empower enough people? As for the “jobs will be created for the indigenes “ we all know how it works in Nigeria they will short change the indigenes themselves.
In 2026 and this age mass kidnapping is going on smoothly but someone of you are dumb enough to still want BAT in 2027.
It looks like someone somewhere is also using this mass kidnapping to launder money because once it comes to politician they go extra mile to loot the country. Terrorist and sympathizers will die a painful death.
Goo0dHardDick: She told me she never loved me and had only been pretending all along.
I met her when she was three months pregnant. She told me the man responsible for the pregnancy den!ed it and ab@nd0ned her.
She even wanted to tèrm!n@te the pregnancy, but I begged her to keep the baby and promised to stand by her.
Even though I work as a block mould worker, I made sure I checked on her every day after work. I provided food, care, and supported her throughout the pregnancy. Later, she told me her sister was strûggl!ng and asked if she could stay with us, and I agreed without hesitation.
When she was eight months pregnant, I travelled to her village in Ebonyi State with my family to inform her parents of my intention to marry her.
Her parents accepted me and gave me the bride price list. At nine months, she gave birth and I paid all the hospital bills. I even opened a POS business for her so she could have something doing and be financially stable.
The problems started when she told me someone had scammed her of ₦140,000.
Then the phone I bought for her was suddenly said to have been stolen, only for me to later discover she gave it to the man who got her pregnant. I still forgave her and bought another phone.
A few days later, I returned home only to discover she had disappeared with money from the POS business and other belongings. When I finally reached her, she told me she never loved me and had only been pretending all along”
