Politics › Re: Tinubu Will Solve Insecurity Challenges In Next Five Years — Umahi by henrybomb(m): 8:52pm On May 24 |
adenigga: David Umahi, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will completely address Nigeria’s insecurity challenges within the next five years if given another mandate.
Umahi made the declaration on Saturday at Umunaga Ward in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State during the APC presidential primary election.
He said the 5,009 party members who turned out at the ward to elect President Tinubu as the party’s candidate for the 2027 general election show the people’s trust and confidence in the president.
Addressing party faithful and leaders, Umahi described Ebonyi State as a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that the people had resolved to demonstrate total loyalty and support for President Tinubu and the ruling party.
“Ebonyi State is totally APC. We are only APC,” Umahi declared, adding that there was no other political party in Ohaozara Local Government Area apart from the APC.
He said the massive turnout of party members showed the people’s appreciation for Tinubu’s administration, especially for the appointments and infrastructure projects being executed across the South-East region.
According to him, President Tinubu has integrated the South-East into national politics through key appointments and developmental projects.
“Bola Tinubu is the Biafra we have been looking for. A man who has integrated the entire South-East, given us juicy appointments and very important infrastructure,” he said.
Speaking on the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, Umahi acknowledged the difficulties Nigerians initially faced but insisted that the policies had stabilized the nation’s economy.
“I laugh when people talk about the hardship caused by the reforms. Nobody has been able to say where Nigeria would have been without them,” he stated.
He maintained that the country had passed through the most difficult phase, expressing optimism that the benefits of the reforms would soon reach ordinary Nigerians at the grassroots.
“The macro-economy is stable and the President is now taking it down to the micro-economy. The worst is over and Nigerians will soon begin to see the benefits,” Umahi added.
He also commended the Federal Government’s ongoing road and bridge projects across the country, saying they were clear signs that the administration was reclaiming and rebuilding critical infrastructure nationwide.

Politics › Re: Nigerians Slam Sheikh Gumi Over Ransom-for-kidnappers Comments by henrybomb(m): 10:35am On May 19 |
Kingzjayzee: Controversial Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi has come under heavy criticism from Nigerians on social media after he appeared to suggest that armed groups involved in kidnapping rely on ransom payments to finance their operations.
In the comments that sparked outrage, Gumi was quoted as saying that criminals involved in banditry were under pressure from security operations and therefore needed funds to sustain their activities.
“The terrorists need all the money they’re getting from kidnapping. It’s not like they are living luxurious lives; the government is putting too much pressure on them so they need money to finance their war machines,” he was quoted as saying during an interview with AIT News.
He further added: “If they leave banditry, they won’t have source of financing their war machine,” suggesting that ongoing security pressure contributes to their actions.
The remarks triggered widespread backlash across social media, with many Nigerians accusing him of justifying or sympathising with criminal groups responsible for widespread killings and kidnappings.
Reactions from users online reflected anger and disbelief at the comments.
@UmehWrites wrote: “He actually said ‘The govt is bombing us’ like ‘US’… he’s announcing he’s part of the terrorists. I try to avoid this man’s videos cos I don’t know how he still hasn’t been locked behind bars.”
@mc1yke added: “Boko Haram is a state-sponsored terrorist group… why would a government let people like Gumi work freely in a country like Nigeria where Boko Haram is killing thousands?”
@SwitchNigeriaNG wrote: “Tinubu would never take him out because like Miyetti Allah… I however believe, if he wins second tenure, he might damn the consequences and put people like Gumi in jail.”
@NigIsland said: “It is a total disgrace that anyone would try to justify kidnapping… These people are not struggling, they are cowards who should be stopped.”
@Benjinku noted: “Saudi Arabia arrested and locked this terrorist up… but Nigeria is allowing him to move around freely and openly sympathise with terrorists on TV.”
@KingByronX questioned the statement, saying: “I genuinely don’t understand why anyone would make a statement like this when innocent Nigerians are suffering daily from kidnapping and terrorism.”
@PhoenixTv01 reacted more strongly: “Lives are being lost daily… and this old, useless, foolish… white bearded he goat is busy defending perpetrators of this evil…”
@FubaraD1 also wrote: “Why is this still walking free out there? This is a double standard of justice.”
The comments have continued to generate heated debate online, with many calling for accountability over statements perceived as sympathetic to armed groups.
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2026/05/nigerians-slam-sheikh-gumi-over-ransom-for-kidnappers-comments/amp/ Gumi has government backings hence his utterance and confidence He should travel to US and blab as he normally does let us see if he will come back alive. This is not the first time he is making such utterances he even said during negotiations some top government officials are most times present. Painful death will befall all terrorists and their sympathizers. |

Politics › Re: Give Me One Reason I Should Vote Tinubu Again by henrybomb(m): 7:18am On May 17 |
Princedapace: I was battling with network issues recently, and it reminded me how difficult it has become to survive here. There is no stable electricity. Most of us survive on generators.
South Africa achieved significant progress in electricity within two years, yet after four years, nothing meaningful has changed here. It is still the same story and the same daily struggle.
Now, remove emotions for a moment and look at the reality:
A kilogram of gas is about ₦1,400. That is extremely high for a country with very low salaries. A crate of eggs is between ₦5,500 and ₦6,000. A bag of cement is around ₦12,000. This is one of the reasons house rent has skyrocketed, because many citizens can no longer afford to build homes. Renting a 2-bedroom apartment in most state capitals now starts from about ₦2.5 million and above. That is insane for a country where the majority of citizens are struggling financially. Fuel is around ₦1,400 per litre.
Fuel powers our generators. If you run two businesses, you may need two generators.
For someone like me who works online, I need electricity almost 24/7. A huge part of my income goes into fueling and servicing generators because, most nights, my generator runs till morning. I work with clients across different time zones, sometimes at 2AM.
What does all of this mean?
Our purchasing power has dropped drastically.
Yet, despite these realities, the tax burden keeps increasing.
I honestly want to ask: does the government truly understand what Nigerians are going through?
Even someone earning ₦25m–₦30m yearly in today’s Nigeria is not necessarily living comfortably. A large percentage of that income already goes into solving basic social problems and surviving.
You pay for:
Electricity Security Healthcare Transportation Water Education
Everything.
So where exactly is the money left to pay huge taxes from?
How many Nigerians can genuinely save millions yearly after handling all their responsibilities as parents, children, and providers?
To survive, many people are already being forced to reduce their quality of life:
Cutting down electricity usage despite terrible heat Moving children from good schools Switching from bottled water to sachet water Selling better cars for cheaper alternatives because of fuel costs Cancelling vacations and basic comfort
The painful part is that many self-employed Nigerians hustle endlessly just to stay afloat, yet at the end of the year, they are still expected to pay heavy taxes.
One of my friends, despite earning what many would call “good money,” is already in debt because of school fees and living expenses. Yet, government expectations are based only on income figures, not the harsh realities behind those figures.
And remember, this is a country where many parents depend on their children financially just to survive.
Honestly, many leaders cannot relate to what ordinary Nigerians are facing because:
Their electricity is sorted Their security is sorted Their healthcare is sorted Their feeding is sorted
So they may never truly feel the pain of the average citizen.
Dear Nigerian leaders, Nigerians are suffering.
We are exhausted.
What could be done differently?
Reduce excessive tax burdens. Maybe 3 percent for now. Please, this country is poor or increase the threshold to maybe 50m per year if you truly wants to target the rich for income tax. Fix electricity. Tackle corruption seriously. Improve security so farmers can return to farms safely. Support the tech economy so more young people can earn online. Invest in skills and digital opportunities. Cut down excessive government spending and luxury packages for politicians.
Nigeria is a poor country with multidimensional poverty. In many homes, one working person carries the burden of an entire extended family.
Tax should not be the first priority when citizens are already struggling to survive.
As I write this now, my area is in complete darkness again. Families will spend heavily on fuel tonight just to have light for a few hours.
So I ask again: after paying for survival, where exactly should the tax money come from?
We are tired.
The bills are too much.
please can someone push this to front page?
I want to understand why the sacrfice must be done by the suffering masses instead of the politicians. I am curios to know why. Why must I suffer what I didn't cause? Data boys will give you reason(s) to vote Tinubu for second term. Such shortsighted and delusional lots |

We4all: When I first watched that video, one question was on my mind: 'what give that officer the confidence to shoot that boy in broad daylight '?
People insinuated that it was because he was trying to cover up something, and I thought to myself, if that is the case, he would take him somewhere else to shoot him and not do it at the park.
While I am not holding brief for that police for his jungle justice style of killing that man, that guy is not as innocent as portrayed. It has been established that he came to the park to waybill the gun to his friend and not pick it up. He stuffed the parcel with baby clothes to trick the driver, but was bursted.
Now it is being alleged that the gun belongs to a late MOPOL officer that was killed during endsars. Perhaps, that was what triggered the officer to take justice into his hands.
Regardless, I have never been in support of jungle justice, but I am also wondering how many people have been killed with that gun. The issue looks shady because why kill him in broad daylight? Was the police trying to hide something? |
